We will show up this time around. They beat us straight out and we deserved and needed it. This time however we will not be asleep at the wheel. Its time to kick this rivalry into full gear. It should be a good game and i am anticipating the hype to come. How bout it Cougar fans are you ready to tear up some Bears????

This should be an excellent game, but I'm taking the Bears to defeat the Cougars once again.
Best of luck to both!

Why does Harlan have to travel to Letcher and play when Harlan has beat letcher once this year . How is this determined ?

There was a 3-way tie between Letcher Central, Harlan County, and Whitley County. Letcher Central ended up with the #1 seed, Whitley with the #2, and Harlan with #3.
Not exactly sure how they determined the tie breaker.

It is on the KHSAA website. It is the total amt of wins of four opponents the three teams had defeated on their schedule. Excluding the three teams that are involved in the tiebreaker. District games were a non-issue as all three teams have defeated the other teams in the district. I have seen many posters on here that felt like Harlan County should have won the district. Well, they should have beaten Whitley County earlier in the season. Letcher Central bounced back from losing to Harlan County and beat Whitley County at Whitley. My suggestion to Harlan County, don't schedule anymore Virginia teams unless it is Clintwood. Their records destroyed HC in the tiebreaker.

Hold on a second now, Whitley County's only non-district win before district play was Lynn Camp which was good for 4 points and Powell Valley, VA was good for 4 points as well. So I don't know what your point is about VA teams. Whitley beating the Rock and HC losing to Bell Co decided the seeding in the end, regardless it is what it is, it's play off time and the Bears are 1-0 against a team that is 7-4! See ya Friday!

Thats right Mama Bear, it is what it is, and no matter how it is, the Bears have to win every Friday Night and beat whomever it may be in front of them, just like every team across the state. The Bears have to get to work, players and coaches, and BRING IT FRIDAY NIGHT!!!! If the Bears come ready to play they upset the Cougars plans. GO BLACK BEARS!!!!!!!!!

Even the Harlan Country fans know that we should have won that game. It was rainy and muddy, LCC isn't accustom to play in those conditions. But Friday night its on the turf. Letcher County is going to win this game, Home field with all the fans going crazy. LCC wins!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Great point, you must play a hard non-district just for the purpose of a tie-breaker. In my opinion, Whitley had the hardest non-district schedule with Belfry, Bell, Lynn Camp, Rockcastle, and Lexington Catholic. Only thing that hurt them is they loss to Belfry, Bell and Lexington Catholic, if they would have one just one of those games, then they would have won the tie-breaker.

Our boys played in the same mud and rain that Letcher Co. played in that night. Our backs had to handle the same slick ball and dig down in the same mud as LCC. LCC isn't accustomed to it? What, do you think our boys practice in mud and raw sewage every day just to get ready for ball games?
I'm looking forward to our trip across the mountain this year. I thought we may have to wait until next season for our district game. I can't wait to see what our Bears can do on some carpet! They are awfully tough on grass. Just think what they can do on turf!!! Should be another dandy game.
Go Black Bears!

That's odd.
Coach Howard didn't seem to think Letcher deserved to win.
âWe didnât take advantage of our opportunities, but they stepped up and played hard defense on us. Coach Larkey had them ready to play, and they played hard. They just whipped us. When your line gets whipped like ours got whipped, you lose.â
11-07-2009, 06:45 PM
i wonder if tim couch will be on our sidelines again this weekend for this game?
11-07-2009, 06:52 PM
How come 90% of the time you never hear the line mentioned and then you lose and the line go whipped? They got beat I agree, but mention them when they beat the other teams as well. How much time has Logan had to throw the ball since the Harlan game? How good has the run blocking been since then.

Well boo-hoo, I hate your boys had to get a little mud on them, but the fact is that the Bears just outplayed the Cougars that night. Our defensive line dominated LCC's offensive line and put heavy pressure on your QB all night long in that mud and muck, so our defensive line outta be all over him like a cheap suit on that turf this Friday. :praise:
