Imo it would be a tossup right now as to whether Ashland could beat Dixie and Cov Cath to claim second in Highlands district.

Again, how did Highlands even come into the conversation? That has absolutely nothing to do with this game! Again that game between Dixie Heights and Highlands was a blowout for Highlands! So PLEASE if you can answer my question without referring to Highlands playing against Ashland!

So PLEASE if you can answer my question without referring to Highlands playing against Ashland!Ok let me clear this up just because Highlands beat dixie 59-9 doesn't mean they wouldn't beat ashland 59-9. So hence forth I'm saying you really can't judge Dixie on a blowout loss to Highlands. Last year Highlands squashed Ashland 55-6 while highlands put 55 up on Dixie as well.
So in the end what I'm saying is I don't think the winner of this game wins by more than 2 tds and maybe less.

They put up 28 on one of the top ranked 6a teams in Simon Kenton. All this info alone tell me that this game will be no pushover for Ashland.
Beechwood is a 1A team so i mean it would kind of be expected for a 5A team beat a 1A team. Newport Central Catholic is a 2A team so that would be another game where a much much bigger school would beat up on the smal school and they didn't really beat up on NCC, they only won by 12. The only one that really stands out is them putting up 28 on Simon Kenton, who is the 3rd ranked team in the state. It will deffinetly be a close game but i still see Ashland winning the game!

Ok, thanks for finally clearing up the Highlands reference! I agree with your outcome.

Beechwood and Newport Central Catholic are not your average 1a and 2a teams they could compete with a lot of 5a and 6a teams around the state no problems most years. This is northern Kentucky football we're talking about not north eastern or eastern.

I'd say on any giving year you might see 3 or 4 teams from nky in football state championships in 1a,2a,5a,6a.

NKY does have its own breed of highschool football teams but EKY is no slouch! IMO, i think EKY has the best 2A team in the state which would be Prestonsburg and also Hazard is a top 1A school in the state and they're usually there every year.

I think Fort Campbell or Newport Central Catholic are the best 2a teams in the state.
I think LCA or Beechwood are the best in 1a.

Well by looking at the playoff matchups Prestonsburg is most likely going to make it to the finals in 2A and i love to see them play Fort Campbell for the championship! It would be a great matchup of 2 undefeateds and i would love to see the outcome! Also by looking at the matchups in 1A Hazard will most likely be playing LCA in the semi-finals, can't wait to see the outcome of that one either!

When I was in school Russell and Ashland students fist fought all the time.
I agree with you 100% when you speak of friends, I have some Very good friends at Russell. Good Luck

This will be a very good game. Ashland won't roll Dixie like some EKY fans are predicting and vice versa with the nky fans. Both teams are going to come out fired up, with the chance to meet Highlands in the second round.
I see Dixie's overall size and speed being the difference in a close one though.
Dixie 35
Ashland 28

I originally said 42-35 Dixie but I don't know what I was thinking. Remember this post guys b/c Dixie is going to handle Ashland friday night. 35-21 will be the score in favor of Dixie. I gave Ashland more credit than they deserve. Everyone will eventually see an all northern kentucky rematch between Highlands and Cov. Cath./Dixie. Both Johnson Central and Ashland are pretty evenly matched. Compared to Northern Ky. competition, teams that would give them a great game are teams like Beechwood or Newport Catholic. Hope this gives everyone a clear picture of Northern Kentucky and how they'll represent 5a this year.

WOW, I did'nt know that the teams down there are that superior, to everyone else.

I have watched;
Ashland vs. Montgomery
Dixie vs. Boone
Dixie vs. Highlands
Highlands vs. Boone (which really doesn't matter in this argument)
Highlands dominated Dixie
Dixie and Boone looked very equal. Both bad
Ashland certainly played well over Montgomery
Though I really can't decide who I favor in the Ashland /Dixie game, I want to lean towards Ashland but I think Dixie has a good QB and if they don't GIVE UP they could actually win this game.

Something for everpne to think about...Dixie returns 20 starters from last year's team that lost to Ashland 35-24. I like Dixie's experience in this game.
I think they'll want it more after losing to the Tomcats last year..

ashland was down by ten late in the third last year and came back. i think that Ashland's speed and agility will prevail late in the game this just as it did last year. also Ashland is a second half team as they showed against JC. they also showed they can handle the big boys up front at JC. i think ashland will make a come back in the second with a high scoring game.

I heard from HHS coaching staff that JC has a good back field like last year, but has lost alot up front on both sides of the ball.

well they might have but they still have boys twice Ashland's size across the front

If they're smaller this year, they'll have a lot of trouble against both Dixie and Highlands if they meet in the second round.

Hopefully you're right. I'd personally like to see an Ashland-Highlands 2nd round match up.

I am still going with Ashland, i just don't see Dixie Heights winning. I realize that they're a NKY team but just because your from NKY doesn't automatically mean they're good. Thats kinda like the Scott vs Johnson Central game, realistically there's no way that Johnson Central is going to lose that game. So the same thing goes for the game. I do realize that Dixie Heights is better than Scott but i trying to use that as an example that all NKY teams aren't invincible!

But over all with most of the nky teams you better bring your A game.

Dixie wins this one by a touchdown. Good luck to both teams.

I'll go with Ashland on this one.

This was a tough game to pick but, I finally went with Ashland in the Pick'em contest. I think Ashlands Def is going to be alittle better than Dixie's and will be the diference. I would also prefer to have Highlands play Ashland in the second round, I think you will see Roller have a monster of a game if that happens!
