Sheldon Clark @ Russell 11/6

Could someone please tell what happened to cause the fight? What were the results.

SC started fumbling the ball and after the 3rd straight fumble you could tell that they where frustrated and it lead to the fight right after that Refs broke it up after awhile Sc had players tossed and so did Belfry. Emotions just got the best of them and it cost them.

It was after the first fumble of the game when the fight started.

A 3 seed over-looking a 2 seed on the road in a typically/traditionally tough place to play? I don't think this will be the case.

If SC is half as good as I think they are, they should win this easily. If they have any size or physicality at all, they will win this easily. If they can pass the ball at all they will win this easily. IF they can do all 3 things, they will win by 4+ TD's

SC-35
Russell-0

That will mean Russell will have been outscore 77-0 in their last 2 playoff games.

Can't wait till some talent comes back through, but that may be 4-8 years away. Especially now that players are moving out of the district because they don't want to play for Russell's coaching staff.

I will have to agree with F-ball on this one. The Evils will have to have production offensively from somebody other than Jones to win this game. If SC has any success at all passing The evils better send some pressure. They didn't send any pressure in the Raceland game and they got picked apart. The Evils are pretty good against the run.

Has Russell lost kids because of the coaching staff? I thought a couple from lower grades left but was it b/c of the high school coaching?

Talent will be there before 4 years. IMO

Does SC pass a lot?

A couple of middle school kids left but it's no big deal. They did not leave because of the high school coaching staff.

SC likes the power running game but they can throw a little bit if the have to.

SC will throw a little bit if the running game is bogging down. They are not real successful throwing downfield unless they get something wide open off of the play action. They do have a nice short passing game similar to a two minute offense. The decision making of their QB, Stepp, is a real key to how their passing game works.

That's got to be the most ignorant statement I've ever read on this forum.
if the defense shows up for sc they take this one. but its been a while since we played a good team and the defense show up..-
Sheldon Clark in a close one.
Russell in a squeaker
Rumor from McDonalds this morning - Pat Cooper is out for the season and Brad Sparks is the starting QB. Can anyone closer to the team vallidate this? Based on the lack of passing production all year it seems this really wouldn't make much of a difference. Either way I hope Russell make the most of the opportunity in post season play.
Thats Brandon Sparks and I hope its not true because cooper is the best pass defender Russell has.
If Cooper truly is out, then this will hurt the defense. However, I think Sparks will do a good job at QB, but I really think they have got to pass at unexpected times for the passing game to be effective. It cannot just be run, run, and then pass on 3rd and long or run and pass on 2nd and long. They have got to pass on 1st down on more than just the rare occasion. Sheldon Clark is likely the type of team that can shut down Travis Jones. They shut down Channing Fugate earlier this year. Russell has got to find other ways to move the ball. I have always been and always will be a supporter of the Russell coaching staff, but if the game plan this Friday isn't a little creative, I will be disappointed.

Its true. From what I understand he needs shoulder surgery from an injury he received in the 3rd quarter of the Raceland game. Gutsy kid, finished a scoring drive and held for PAT with a concussion, played a quarter with a bum shoulder. That's what is so great about this team, they don't quit.
Sheldon Clark 35
Russell 14

Sheldon Clark is a very tough team when their 100%. They're not going down to Russell. They are looking for vengeance against Belfry. SC will come out hitting on all cylinders and win this one. Originally I thought this game might come down to the end but I've changed my mind. Sheldon Clark rolls and gets their rematch with Belfry.

I would really be surprised if Sheldon Clark rolls to a 35-14 win with the game being at Russell.

For all the SC fans headed to Russell. You may very well win, but look for the Devils to defend their home turf very well.
I remember the last time when Belfry came the whole team stepped on our R in the middle of the field and started jumping up and down I know that made our players mad and pumped them up even more.

Are you sure Belfry knew they were doing that?:igiveup:They went through a stage where they sprinted on the field and ended up at midfield jumping around. It would not be very smart to give Russell any extra incentive in a game against the Pirates.:dontthink Actually GOREDDEVILS, if you remember how cold it was that night, they were just jumping around trying to stay warm.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they knew that they were on the R. I hope Sheldon Clark does it.

You may be right, but I have never known Belfry to disrespect another team's field and I sure would not take up for them if they did. I do know they disrespected the first half of that game. Russell took them to the woodshed and it was 20-0 and could have been worse if not for the fantastic defensive play Matt Maynard made. Belfry rallied in the second half, but the Devils won and the rest is history. I would have loved to have had some heat in that cinder block pressbox.

LOL It's concrete and in 1984 it was "state of the art" as far as press boxes go.
If the same Sheldon Clark team shows up that play the Bobcats and the Dawgs then I really think that they should win this one.. But if the team shows up that play Pike Central or the Pirates then they will be in real trouble.

Well Batpuff, the team that played the bobcats ,and the dawgs had to watch the pcc and belfry game from the sidelines.I do understand what you are saying they will have to play as a team ,hitting on all cylinders.sc by 3tds
SC passes the ball better when their running game is working. When SC is forced to pass they really struggle and their QB will throw INT's. If SC is getting nice yards running the ball, their play action game can be very effective, but their primary threats ctaching the ball are the backs out of the backfield.

SC has a propensity to go into "Clock Grinding Mode" when playing in a big game, especially on the road. They eat every second on the playclock and are completely content with riding a RB on the backs of two linemen with very narrow splits.. you will even see another lineman lay on top of the RB from ebhind and push the pile forward. SC usually has a size advantage over most teams, but they typically aren't very fast. If SC gets in this type of mode, they are veruy frustrating and will punish teams if they try to arm tackle on defense. Additionally, this limits the number of posessions assuring SC is in the ball game late and maximizing the significance of turnovers.

They used this approach last year in the playoffs at Mason County.. they have also used it in the playoffs against Belfry numerous times, and in their victory against Breathitt County this year.

The Moore kid is far and away the most explosive player SC has and he is dangerous in the open field. The Sloan kid is good for the tough yards and Ray is a threat catching the ball out of the backfield. The majority of SC's passes come off the rollout and play action. It is very important that Russell doesn't fall asleep on the passes or else the RB's will sneak out and they are dangerous.

Defensively SC will probably play at least 9 players, if not 10, in the box. They are strong up front and against runnign teams typically will have their defenders "fall into" the O-line to plug holes and force the RB's to dance around. SC typically hits pretty hard and are opportunistic on defense. If you can get to the 2nd level though they are very vulnerable to the big play and misdirection.

I'll say:
SC 26
Russell 20

I would almost believe that. I was above you on TOP of the pressbox for that game. At least you had some walls to knock the wind off of you in that old cinderblock pressbox.
