Is Brian Hall still the head coach at Powell???
#5
Yes, Brian Hall is still the coach. I think that if this group of guys will settle in and listen and work hard. I beleive they have as good of a shot to win the district this year than anybody else! With Christian Brewer back only helps this team tremendously not to mention the underclassman getting the experience they got from last year. Jacob Conner has improved greatly and will be a great asset to this team. Will Arvin playing football this year will only help improve his game physically. He's already a beast to say the least. I look forward to this season especially after last season. GO PIRATES!!!!

Has KHSAA determined Christian Brewer to be eligible to play this year?
#7
I have worked with Coach Hall before.......probably one of the bext x and o basketball guys you can find at the Highschool level....... If the kids can catch on to the stuff he wants them to run you could see a much improved club on the court for the Pirates this season!

Yes, he's ready to go from what I've been told.

Wow! Good for him. I figured he would have a problem since he played varsity at Powell his first two years then played varsity at Clark Co. last year.

What about the Goodwin kid, is he still playing and will he make a contribution?

Sorry, don't have much info on Goodwin but I do hope that he's playing this year. He's to athletic not to contribute to the team.

With cristian back, this will improve powells front court alot. To my knowledge Creech will run the point, reed the 2 gaurd, and brewer the 3. A little weak down low, to say the least. Will Arvin will not be playing this season. So they suffer a major loss there. Hopefully conner can step up, which i have no doubt he can. If this team gets going and cliques well, then i say they take district easy.

there just playing them 2 times.

in there district its Estill, Powell, Lee and Owsley

I agree i do think they'll be better this year but the 56th district is a toss up right now. Once the season begins and everyone has played a few games it will be easier to determine whose gonna be on top.
#18
Powell has much better year in 2009/2010. Watch for Matt Pelfrey, Cody Morton, and Jacob Conner to have breakout years.
#19
neverwas Wrote:Powell has much better year in 2009/2010. Watch for Matt Pelfrey, Cody Morton, and Jacob Conner to have breakout years.

matt pelfrey isnt very good......he cant dribble all that well....he cant shoot all that well.....hes decent at defending.....what makes you think hes going to have a breakout season
#20
im wondering what the starting lineup will look like....brewer, reed, creech, and conner are all prolly locks for starting but who will be the 5.......i dont think conner is big enough to play the 5.....without will.....i think this team faces some problems that need to be taken care of by a mediocre coach at best......i think powell will be okay....ill take powell or owsley to win the district thisyear

Donavan Nolan of course! He brings great hustle and determination to the floor the whole time he's out there. I think Joe Scott will do well also.

Just wait and see.
#23
Powell has an easy schedule this year; they may win 8 games.
#24
Looking at that schedule I see them winning at least 15 games!
#25
Even though they're better, Powell Co will still probably finish last in the district again.
#26
Yes Joe Scott has stepped up and has been working hard, dont be so sure of yourselfs on the whole Jacob Conner thing...im sure they will battle hard. Matt pelfrey had a great summer with his whole all around game, watch out when he gets a fastbreak it will be show time same with Goodwin he can jump OUT of the gym. And this Leecoukfan cant be serious?? you just lost Aaron, Campbell, Pelfrey. that leaves who?? pittman and gus two good players but i bet they dont win a game in districts or even have a game that is close haha
#27
I think Brewer will be great; Reed and Creech are not doing as well as they were last year. Reed cannot do as well when there is good defense on him. Maybe some one will step up.
#28
Powell will be much deeper this year and more experience. A lot of kids will get plenty of PT. It is what is best for the TEAM that counts.
#29
when and who do they play in a scrimmage?
#30
Inter-squad scrimmage Nov 19
