I know Knox isn't the best team this year, there no trinity thats for sure..But what of the knox county next year and the year after that, the knox team there senior year will be the same group of boys who lost to bells middle school by one touchdown there 8th/7th grade year. Look who the upcoming kids are, QB John Barger, Codi Diamond is just flat out monster, and stand out FRESHMEN jeffrey canady. There are alot more boys that majorlly contribute, and in a year or two, Knox may be a State Contender:1:

I look for KC to continue to improve steadily under Coach Mills. Last year's team was good enough to compete for a 4A Championship and this year's team, although not quite as good, could still be competitive enough to advance to the regional final.
Don't put too much stock in pre-high school teams. Too many things change, kids mature at different levels. What they did in little league and middleschools is not necessarily an indication of how they'll develop as high school players. Still, it's an athletic group and with this coaching staff, should do well.

I think that Knox Central will continue to steadily improve and may eventually be able to challenge Bell in their region. Coach Mills and his staff have done an excellent job and they are starting to reap the benefits of improved programs at the younger age groups. The panthers have an excellent group of young players and a solid class behind them at the Middle School. Like someone said earlier, it is how much work that they want to do. The talent is there, now its time to see if the desire is.

they wiil improve but it will be a while before they will be a state contender...imo

IMO the next two years it will be a battle between Bell and Knox for district, and region.

imo kc has had a bad year. but i still think they will make it to the region championship. after this year the chances of wining that game will continue to go up.

Actually, I thought they were a contender last year. It just so happened that Bell was a little better. Still, one more break could have made them regional Champs. Five points is not a lot.

Good enough to make the regional championship game is not a bad year. It's very possible that they go 1-1 in the playoffs but that would still be 7 wins. Not bad considering were they came from and that it's a "reloading" year.

I'm like most of you guys. I say Knox Central will keep on improving under the guidance of Coach Mills, but it will be a slow process to reach the goals that we're talking about here. The Panthers have some quality wins this season (Rockcastle County and two handily wins against Madison Southern and McCreary Central). Although they had a little trouble beating Williamsburg in an offensive shootout, they played a top 3A team in Somerest down to the wire at the beginning of the season. The 5-4 record makes this team look average, but playing a tough schedule will do that. Teams Knox has lost to such as Bell County and Clay County are top teams in the area. When Knox gets on the level to beat top ten Mountain teams is when we can really start talking about this subject.
With all of that said, the Panthers will take awhile to become one of the top teams in the Mountains, much more 4A. But, they are definitely moving in the right direction.

What are you talking about who played for the regional title last year and tell me this who do you think will play for the region again this year (Bell and Knox)

That was Knott Central, not Knox Central.

I doubt it!

sorry my misq. my point is still sound though, it takes alot of different intangables to win titles and I am a product of a program that has had been fortunate enough to get 1 or 2 every now and then

I can see Knox winning the district next year.

Two major losses that show that Knox is not close to being an elite team is North Laurel and Clay Co. Both those teams are at the bottom of their district. North has improved but still have a long way to go and Clay's program is falling fast. :eyeroll:

With all due respect, I can't. Can't see it for quite some time matter of fact.

Knox returns an entire team it could happen. I am not saying def. but last year no one gave them a chance to be where they were and almost upset the state champion Bell County

Good point. We almost(and should have)beat Ft. Thomas a few years back but to say we could beat them now is far from reality.
I do understand that Knox is closer in that analogy though.

My point on this is that Knox Central returns all but three seniors that play. With the young talent and a good year in the weight room they could def. contend for the title next year. I didnt say def. this is a time at least it could be in site.

Yeah, since that district is so easy and all. :eyeroll:
North Laurel played Harlan County to two overtimes, played Perry Central close, and beat Pulaski County. Clay County played Whitley County close who just put a thumping on Perry Central. They also beat a pretty decent South Laurel team handily. Clay County losing Hooker didn't help either.
Don't tell me those losses were bad losses. That district is the toughest in the Mountains and EKY., no questions asked.

Clay and North are going backwards fast, with both on extended losing streaks. Whitley, Letcher, and Clay were better last year. North, Perry, and HC have improved from the previous season. This is the reason for the balance. Not tougher, just teams going in opposite directions.
Moral victories and playing teams "close" don't get you in the playoffs.
Anyway, back on the subject, if Knox is going to be a powerhouse in the future, then Clay and North will be state champions.

Clay and North both caught a young Knox Centrtal before they got the kinks out. Different team now. I think Knox has made major strides in the past few years. Don't know I would put them in a Power House Catigory. Bell and Rock are still in the Dist.

Not saying they played a really tough schedule, just saying they are improving.

Clay has lost one of the best atheletes in the moutains and we all know how hard that can be on any team. KC had plenty of oppurntunities to score on clay (3 times inside the 10) at North Laurel they were knocking on the door 3 times inside the five you have to take this into consideration.

remember, Bell is only losing 6 seniors and will be returning 17 juniors who will be seniors next year. just thought I should point that out since it is relevant!
