I should really take my own advice here. But seriously Lynn Camp beating us. Anything is possible I guess. But you cannot be serious! That's like predicting Russell to lose against someone like Nicholas County.

I just think its funny how Russell people talk smack about Raceland facilities... when their gym is a dark concrete dungeon with sweet "1950's TB-hospital-style green bricks"..... but whatever... yea.. Raceland is such a horrible place... I guess thats why the junior high hallways are booming with kids from Russell, not to mention ex-Ussell administration coming to Raceland.... I can name MAYBE 3 people I know that have every left Raceland and gone to Russell... always seems to be the other way around.. amazing how that works...

Gyms, Raceland definitely has the advantage. Now that gym and school Raceland had until a few years ago was really a dungeon. As for football facilities Russell clearly has the advantage.
As for kids still in middle school, I won't bring them into the trash talk. Is that really the best that we can do? Middle school kids?
I know of one high school kid that transferred back to Russell from Raceland this year and another that almost did last year and is checking into it again. Doesn't really matter though. Most kids that transfer from one school to another in a local area usually carry excess baggage. You Raceland guys should know that.
As for this game without the trash talk. Russell has an advantage on offense while I think both defenses are pretty even. Both teams are well coached and will be prepared. Injuries could play a key in this game. With rain in the forcast, weather could also play a key role. If its sloppy its and advantage for Russell. In the end I think Russell has the better team and will pull out the victory.

I like fball feel Russell has more offensive power and just enough defense to slow Raceland to 3 and out a few times and take advantage by breaking the game open by a few scores.

I just got a good little kick out of the other site complaining about the friendly trash talk in this thread and be sure to tell them that we don't miss them over there either Ram Fan 04. I paid my money over there and got banned for saying things no worse than some of the stuff over here and be sure to tell them that's why all the Russell fans are here because there is nothing wrong with friendly smack talk. I even got suspended once for mentioning this site in a round about way. I no longer post there because if you are not one of their boys, they keep a hard hand on you.

I disagree I believe BGP>BGR but it's everyones own personal opinion. As far as Fballs opinion goes you could very well be correct. Racelands defense does play pretty well now. They have come a long ways since the Greenup and Fleming games. Except I think rain goes in Racelands advantage.

Rain affects a passing team more than a running team.
Oh and as far as bgp goes there is like maybe 2 Russell fans there and at least one post here from time to time. Another thing that sets BGR apart is the fact they have a middle school section and bgp doesn't.

Both of these teams are fairly even. Both defenses are decent. Both offenses can play well at times but, both offenses can be inept at times also. If both tams play their best games it will be very close. Rain could be an advantage in the passing game for Raceland. Remember the reciever knows where he s going the defensive back doesn't. What would you Russell people know about a passing game anyway. The only time you guys throw the ball is when you throw the ball into a bag to bring it to the game.

Ok enough is enough! Not saying comparing scores can conclude anything but this Raceland team did lose to both Fleaming county and Greenup county. Russell beat both these team with a combine score of 86-25, with the devils looking for revenge i wouldnt be surprised if this game gets ugly quick!!!:devilflam:devilflam:devilflam

Hey Raceland, why doesn't someone go to Rail city hardware or Walmart and buy a bunch of lawn chairs and rent them to the visitors. You all could make tons of money. Maybe enought to make the track larger so the field will fit. And the "R" comment was about a T-shirt I saw that used the slogan: Protect the "R", for Raceland. Funny, thought Russell started that? Oh well, since you all have taken that and some of our players who didn't get playing time for some reason or another (talent) then I guess you can have the "R" too. But do us a favor........Don't capitalize it "r". J/K LOL....its all in fun!

I just really think rain gives the Rams a slight advantage. I'll keep my reasoning to myself in case I'm wrong. But after these past two games in the rain it's what I feel. After the game or if it doesn't rain Friday I'll give my reasoning just to prove I actually have one and I'm not just blowing smoke like 70% of the posts in this thread.

Correction: "Defend the R" (And as for Raceland, well it should be; " Defend the "r" ". )

^Also to add to my post about the predicted score above. You just said you can't really base it off scores from other games. But you did anyway? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. You could be right though, if this raceland team shows up like they did against Fleming or Greenup it's likely the score could be that much.
10-21-2009, 12:05 PM
How does that give Raceland a slight advantage.........
Raceland has no running game, are they going to run all over Russell with that great transfer Jeremy Barr? What a joke!:lmao::Clap::thatsfunn

Let me clarify a little bit just so you don't think I'm "blowing smoke". I agree that a reciever has an advantage over a db on a muddy field. However, if it is raining during the game the passing team is at a distinct disadvantage. Shotgun snaps and catching passes become much more difficult while rain is falling.
Muddy fields can also be an advantage for running back. The back knows which way he is going to cut the same as a reciever.
I hope the field is not sloppy and that the rain is not comming down during the game but if the forecast holds true that will not be the case.

Weather.com is showing 50% chance of rain for Friday.

I know of a few Russell kids who play skill positions who are looking at ways to switch to Raceland. They are doing this to play "modern" football. Hmmm, Russell is not the best place to play if you are a QB or receiver.
You are correct on the Ram running game this season, but lets be fair to Barr, he has alot of heart, played hurt and at best about 75%.

Fball I wasn't speaking about you with the smoke comment. Most of your comments as well as goreddevils have been pretty fair arguements. After rereading my post it did sound directed towards you and it was not.
I'll go ahead and give my reason even though I said I wouldn't. On a sloppy field it can be more of an advantage for a passing team. Due to the fact that the quick routes bieng open. Quick slants, outs, digs across the middle, shallow routes, etc. Because like ramadevil said a receiver know which way he's going to break sometimes causing a db to lose footing. Another reason is it's alot harder to get that initial jump to break on the ball. After seeing Jones play a couple of times this year. He has great vision to read the holes and blocks. He makes this last second cuts accelerates through the hole and gone. On a muddy field those cuts are more difficult to make. It takes longer to make them, and that hole could be closed down by then.
But you make valid points as well. I suppose that's why we play the game!

He was making great cuts on a very muddy field.

As long as Mason County beats Fleming County as expected, then Russell will have a home game against the loser of this week's Pike County Central/Sheldon Clark game.

Haven't had a chance to really sit and look at Sheldon Clark or Pike. But Sheldon Clark seems to be a pretty good team don't they?
