I don't know anything about Sheldon Clark, but isn't requiring kids who don't play fall sports to participate in conditioning a good thing. You sound as if its something bad to require conditioning in the off season. I guarantee you that there are no kids at Scott County, Lexington Catholic, Holmes, Ballard, etc.. that make the team without participating in conditioning in the fall.
there saying that if you play a fall sport and dont come to conditioning that it will be held against you harless only waants boys who play basketball to play basket ball he is trying to keep kids from playing othere sorts he doesnt have a clue of whats going n he tells players not to lift weights as well idk about how they do it in other places but it sure does look like collage and pro players lift i dont think that they get ripped by sitting on their butts all summer

We are just wasting our breath guys nothing will be done and they will continue to run this program into the ground and all we can do is sit back and watch it take place.

This is exactly correct, Coach Ronnie Smith has done so much for the youth of Martin Co. I had the opertunity to help Coach Smith with some of those powerhouse middle school teams he had at WMS. I was with him for 5 seasons and not only did he do for the kids but I also learned so very much from this man. Do to my job and obligations at home I had to leave Coach Smith after the 2002-2003 season and what a season it was. This had to be one of the best Middle School teams ever assembled in east Ky, we were loaded with talent... George Shimko, Damon Hensley, Ryan Mollett and that was Justin Porter's 7th grade year and he played at Sheldon Clark High his eighth grade season for J.R. Hammonds and with some of our talks since Justin has never came out and said but I get the feeling he would have never gave up his last year at WMS and Coach Smith if he could do it again. We traveled to Hopkinsville Ky and competed in the national midwest regional tournament for middle school teams where we did loose 2 games but were very competitive we took a final four team in that tournament to overtime in the first round and lost by 2. Coach smith was so proud of that group. I think we finished the season at 26 and 4. The way Coach Smith was done by the Martin Co. board was so so wrong, I don't know if they even gave him as much as a thank you for all he done. He made sure the kids made their grades, even made them sit in the bleaches and do homework during practice if they were struggling. All I can say is if you or your child played for Coach Ronnie Smith they not only learned the game of basketball they learned to be better human beings. Coach Smith is truely a class act.

Very good post and all of this is true besides the Porter thing who knows how he feels and thats the past now so it really dont matter. all that matters is fixing this problem so the kids in the future wont have to be treated wrong and haveing parents that have a lil bit of say so rule what goes on in the martin county athletic system. well basketball that is because coach hager is a class act and he plays who deserves to play in football. i just want to see this problem fixed before this gets really out of hand because with some of the rumors i have been hearing well lets just say when coach harless leaves everybody will be wishing him back and i know people dont like him but when he leaves somebody will be coaching this team that will do exactly what mark blackburn and larry james says. so please people that care about sheldon clark athletics dont let this happen!!

He is definately the best coach in MC. :devilflam The Warfield Devils will always be top notch!
best post i have seen since i've been on here!!!
but i think peops should stop bashing schs & wait till the season starts and as for who do i think wil start, its up in the air i hope juniors and seniors get to play. i have nothing against the lower class boys but i think they will have their years to play. and BJ is an awesone person and player. and as foe the middle school quote! they are still talented in high school. but you have to be given the chance to play. i'd take the first five players that was then @ WMS and Coach Smith and i guarantee you they'd have a winning season.

what do you think the starting lineup should be lol?
I'm not sure who will start but i think they do have talent. the problem is they werent given a chance these last two years to play. but given the chance they can come back and have a great team. but have you though bout how many guards they are going to have and lots of'em have major pull. so i want to see who will play. um.. an im not on any side.but seriously who do you think will start this season. besides bj & tyler lafferty their a given

Facts are facts and the Moore kid is the only true basketball player on the roster. He will have carry this years team but once again they will most likey be infifth place in the district. I wish that when Hammonds was fired that they had opened up the search for a new coach but once again its not about winning with the boys program. I keep hearing that this will be Harless's last year which would be just great but sadly it woyuld come three years too late and oh yes Ronnie Smith was done terribly wrong, he certainly deserved much better for his years of selfish dedication to Warfield in all sports and if things were done right here the WMS gym floor would be renamed the Ronnie Smith floor.:devilflam

This is not a good line up but this is the way i think it should be like this because you have to put bj at the 2 so they can run plays for him and get him good shots. its hard for PG to find there shot. Everyone of these kids are good young people but theres just not enough talent in this lineup to win more than 5 games. and you said they havent been given a chance to play in the past couple years? thats because they wasnt good enough to play the last couple of years besides bj the past two seasons and tyler last year. these kids have to work double time to get better because they are really behind everybody in the region. one of the players told me half of the players they have out there dont even know how to dribble and shoot left hand layups and the sad thing is theres only about 15 players on the whole team.

jed i know your not a big coach harless fan but i can tell you one thing if they fire him bj moore will transfer i heard that from his own mouth. Then blackburn will hire somebody close to him so his boy can get some playing time. then SC basketball will be compared to Piarst and schools like that.
Mark my word!!

This lineup may very well happen but its going to be a long season for the Cards.

Jed is not the only one that dislikes coach Harless but come on now we all know why Harless got the job in the first place and if winning was cared about a serach would have been made for a new coach. UK made a mistake with the hiring of Billy Clyde and Barnhart has admitted that but at least he went and corrected that mistake by hiring Calipari. Harless was the wrong hire but no one will ever*admit it was a mistake.

I am not a big fan of harless either but when he leaves do you think they will get a coach better than him?
I dont think they will because they will stay in the system and get somebody close to blackburn and larry james because blackburns kids are in high school and Mr. James kid still has a 4 or 5 more years before he gets there!!

I have heard that there is only about 18 players out and the tallest kid out is 6 - 3. What has happened to Sheldon Clark basketball ? The Moore kid is truly outstanding but other than that who will do the scoring. Its sad to see*the program slip as bad as it has and worse yet no one cares so I don't see the Cards winning no more than six or seven games.

huh. i do like ur line up. however, your all wrong they are all good players and yes they can shut a lap up, an you must not ever attended a schs b-b game cause they can dribble. i personally think its a good line up. and yell bj is a good player but can he win a game by himself, no thats why they have 4 more players out there. again team work. i think theres more than 15 players, not positive, but football players havent came out yet and mikey moore burnt it up last yr when he got some playing time @ varsity. but its mc so who nos. but hey i do agree with ur line up. good picks an good players. and again bj is a good player but these others you named and a few more are talented also and they can shoot. whitt can shoot a 3 pointer. thats lots of talent @ schs if they will play'em.

Slone is a scorer, PERIOD.
He will be the 2nd best player on the team, and maybe the best by the end of the year. He is flat out more athletic than Moore.
