The spread is not a good offense for us i think that has been proven. And to handle this group he needs to realise that most of them arent going to be as good as he was. He needs to get the best out of them not the best that he expects them to be if that make sense. and about the O-Line comment when we are pass blosckin at least one of our linemen will miss his block usually the center or the right tackle its not their fault they just arent fast enough to be able to pass block.and idc what you say it requires speed especially for the tackle to get in position for a fast DE. Size does not mean you can pass block.
I agree with the spread not being a suitable offense for us. As for the oline, I disagree. You don't have to be fast, it's all about technique. If the right tackle is that slow, maybe he should be moved to gaurd so they can put a faster lineman at right tackle. I played Oline in high school and in college at the Tight End position. I was strictly used for blockin purposes in college, and i can promise you that I was NOWHERE near as fast as the DE's and blitzin LB's I had to block, and guess what, I got the job done. No size doesn't matter, but we aren't goin to be playin any teams with DE's or DL like Ryan Brown (Paintsville 99-02) or Josh Sullivan (Pikeville 01-04).

Kiffin Wrote:Wow this is really a sign of where the Paintsville program is headed. Paintsville the last couple of years has been really struggling to compete at the level they once did. I think this is a group effort from top to bottom. This really starts with the coaching and how the players are prepared each week. First the offense Paintsville is trying to run this year makes them more vulnerable for being very up and down in production. First off they have team speed to speak of what so ever, yet they are trying to mimic the offense of Florida which has the elite players in the country. I want you to turn on the TV on a saturday and tell me how many teams run the Florida style offense? You will see very few teams running this system because they don't have the players to be effective on a day in day out basis, this to me looks like what's happening to Paintsville. Secondly, I feel that the coaching staff really doesn't understand the complexity of the offense and therefore aren't able to make the adjustments to different schemes they might face. To me I think it would make more sense to run a more power style offense like Phil Haywood, Jim Matney, or even Chuke Williams have done for many years. Of the names I've mentioned what do they have in common? One might answer this question by saying success. I think Paintsville needs to find good young mind who has a system that he knows inside and out, this makes more sense then running something that doesn't suit your players.Didn't Burr try that?

Yeah I think they tried it to some extent but I think it would make more sense then the one we are running right now.

Paintsville couldn't run that offense without an oline coach that knows those blockin schemes like the back of his hand. I would like to see them run it, but I don't think they have a fast enough line either.

I wouldn't mind seeing Paintsville re-structure their coaching staff and get some guys from around the region that bring a specific niche or something that they can teach.

I think Jason's plans for the future with Freshman QB Matt Daniels is to be a passing team. With that bein said, I would be tryin my hardest to get Justin Haddix at Paintsville to be the QB coach/OC. With Justin's lil brother Jade graduatin this year, I don't see why he wouldn't explore his options. I know Breathitt is his alma mater, but I don't believe he does a whole lot. Holcomb is a QB coach, he has produced some of the best QB's to ever come out of the mountains, why would he need Haddix, lol. Bein that Jason played at Georgetown for 4 years, won a National Championship, I would be gettin one of my old buddies that played on the Oline to come in and show these boys the best techniques and schemes for both runnin and passin.

Ray knows football, but he can get in trouble with administrators, and referees quicker than anyone I have ever seen. About five years ago he got thrown out of a Betsy Layne 3rd and 4th grade game and nearly got thrown out of a Betsy Layne high game and he was a fan, not a coach.

I know several that have been thrown out at Betsy Layne *G*
