Great job P-burg. Way to hang in there and not give up. Great win. you are proving your one of the best in the mountains this year.

What a great game. Would have loved being there to witness this one.

Chapman being gone to Pike Central may be a factor in all of this.

Absolutely...
The Bobcats need a possession-type back who can carry the ball 15-20 times a game. It would make both Fugate and Haddix that much better. Breathitt Co. is relying FAR too much on hitting big plays.
The Bobcat scores came so quickly, it forced the defense on the field a lot. It sounded like there was less pressure on Burchett as the game progressed. Rushing the QB play after play is tough on a D-line.

Breathitt is for reel. Dont let these series of unfortunate events give you the wrong idea about the bobcats. They are not down at all, lost 2 games to 2 good teams. Not as good as breathitt, jus things didnt go their way. Look for breathitt not to lose again this season.

The other Breathitt RB (Pritchard) is out with a knee injury. Big turn of momemtum, IMO, was Breathitt's poor clock/game management at end of 1st half that cost them a potential TD near the goal line. Congrats to Blackcats. You outplayed them and deserved this one.

Conditioning!! The Blackcats were in better shape. Breathitt was wore out by the start of the 4th quarter.
Coaching!! The Blackcat made adjustments at half time to shore up the outside defense. On offense they started throwing under for five and ten yards instead of two and five yards. Midway in the 4th they went straight at Fugate because he was wore out.
Errors!! Breathitt goes for it a the 45 on a 4th and 1. They turn the ball over on a run for no gain. P-burg scores to close within 1 touchdown. If Breathitt punts, P-burg has to use more time even if they do score.
As far as Breathitt being the better team, they might win 9 out of 10 but they got beat in the only one that was being played.

Congrats Pburg. Also, GREAT game Michael Burchett. I got to watch the game on home town tv lastnight. Showed alot of composure and mental toughness. Glad to see Jo Jo have another great game, I know your oldest brother is very proud. Scary part about this Pburg team is that they haven't even reached their potential yet, IMO. If they played 4 full quarters like they did the 4th quarter lastnight, they could be VERY dangerous.
As for Breathitt, IMO they are in the same kind of situation that Johnson Central is in. Losin Chapman was a huge loss for BC, i don't care what anybody says, that man's defenses were the real deal. JC is in a similar situation, they lost one of the best OL coaches in the state in Tony Burchett, and look how things are goin for them thus far this season. Losin players to graduation or injury is one thing, but when a team loses coaches like this, it's gonna make a HUGE difference.

He had 232 yards 2TD's on 20 carries. That's over 10 yards a carry, sounds pretty good to me. To me it sounds like he should get the ball more.

remember one thing when it comes to prestonsburg football program these kids never say die they never give up it takes four quarters of football to beat these kids a direct result of the coaching staff and the pride thats surrounds this program!

For the second straight week Breathitt was simply out coached. P-burg made the correct adjustments in the second half while the bobcats coaching staff failed to do so. Breathitt is a much more talented team than P-burg but talent doesn't always win games. P-burg's quarterback has convinced me he is the best passing quarterback in the mountains. I was very impressed with his ability to throw while on the run. P-burg also has some good young recievers. With Prestonsburg's talent and if they keep playing with heart and determination they will be a contender for the 2A title. As for Breathitt, if they are going to be a contender in 3A they are going to have to make changes on both offense and defense. On offense, Holcomb is going to have to be more creative and allow the other athletes on the team to be more involved in the offensive game plan. Jade and Channing are two of the best athletes in the mountains but Holcomb has to get others involved before Jade and Channing can reach their maximum potential. On defense, Holcomb needs to let Coach Justin Haddix be more involved in the defensive play calling. As we all observed last night the defensive play calling was a step behind and I would feel more comfortable if Haddix were making the defensive calls. Breathitt also needs to get healthy. Breathitt had three defensive starters out and these kids also start on the offensive side of the ball. I think Breathitt will make the adjustments it needs to make and they will be competing for another state championship in Bowling Green.

Channing Fugate had over 200 yards rushing, averaged 10+ yards a carry, 2 interceptions, and like 3 total touchdowns.
He is a division 1 player and played like it.

Prichard and Ritchie are both out. This forced them to play the KICKER ay other RB.Not a good choice.Defense cost us the game.NO pass defense. He needs to let Justin be D co-ordinater instead of Back.

The Burchett kid is for real. Breathitt couldn't stop the pass in the second half. Breathitt also needs to find a way to get some sort of passing game going. They really struggled throwing the ball last night.

I hope no one is doubting this Breathitt County team. The Bobcats may have been a little over-hyped by some of the fans, but this team is for real. Just ask Mercer County if you think Breathitt is overrated. Like some have said, this team has had a little injury bug. But, you can't blame the two losses on that. I really believe Breathitt needed these two losses to wake up and understand that they have to give it their all. Fugate was tired, dog tired. Haddix was tired. The other players just did not step up. The Blackcats took full advantage of that last night and played incredible football. That's what it boils down to. What I'm trying to say is, don't turn your back on the Bobcats, especially those who have yet to play them this season. I don't see another loss on their schedule.
As for Prestonsburg, they have turned heads and shown EKY that they are for real and one of the Mountains top teams. Burchett is one of the most, if not the most underrated quarterback in the state of Kentucky and certainly EKY. Teams tend to overlook the Blackcats because of their shortage of players and their lack of size. As we have all seen over the first three weeks, that has played no factor whatsoever. The Blackcats are as tough as I've seen them in recent times, quick, and hard-nosed. Coach John DeRossett and the rest of the staff have done an outstanding job this year for Prestonsburg. They are rolling right now and giving it their all every time they step on the field.
Best of luck to both of these teams throughout the rest of the season! These two teams are two of the top three in the Mountains in my book!

That's true. We WILL still be going to state.Count on that. And playing too before someone says as spectators. We are fine.Pburg did what they had to do to win and we just stood there and let em'.We had the game well in hand and let it slip away.Justin needs to be D-co-ordinator;not Back.
