Raceland's quarterback could be out up to 8 weeks with a broken thumb because the coaches decided to put him at linebacker in the Oklahoma drill.

Which QB?

Yes he was put in the drill as LB, because he plays LB on defense. Tough break for the kid. Great kid.

mason rister. Farley is the backup. We were looking at 8-2 with rister. We are looking at 5-5 or worse without him.

Does he play linebacker on defense? If so he has to get reps there as well.

Well Thats not good news for raceland but it possibly could be when they play LCA because if im thinking right raceland plays lca early in the season and if he is out that long then maybe they wont see how good raceland can be with a better or more experience quarterback.

Exactly. Just ask Chuck Smith how he felt about his QB's playing LB, too. Jeff Duggins, who won Mr. Football in '02 and his son, Brandon, all started at OLB.
Besides, they young man at Raceland would have had a better chance of getting in a wreck and injuring himself than getting hurt at football practice. Tough break for the kid and Raceland, but a program like theirs will find a way to make due and win until his return. Best of luck.

i dont think its fair to say that racelands running game still be good and the tomcats switched to a freshman last year and the season took off for them also remember the year ryan salyers got hurt in the opener tyler bladridge came in and played extremely well
