Should Michael Vick be suspended
#1
Should he be able to play right away or should he sit some games??? Your thoughts.
#2
I think he's paid his dues and should be able to play now.
#3
Yes, simply because a precedent was set that if you conduct yourself in an unprofessional manner off the field then you get suspended from the league. Vick's absence from the NFL was due to his imprisonment, not suspension so he should have to serve a first offence suspension when he returns.

This is sad. The man did his time. He is a free man and should not be suspended. I feel Roger Gadell is using personal feelings. He should sign on a team, and should start attended camps.

He did lie to Gadell about the whole thing and everybody is sorry once they get caught. I believe in 2nd chances. Booya, since it's his first offense will they suspend him??? Just wondering.

The man has served his time, his name was drug threw the mud, and his life turned upside down. I dont know how much more punishment the guy needs to indure. Let him play.

I don't think the endorsements will be there either. That's the big money he will miss.
#8
Most of like what everyone else has said. I believe Vick should be able to play again without a suspension. Simply because he has done his time.

So, let the man play!

To me, what he did is appalling. But to deny him an opportunity to work is not appropriate. If someone does not want to hire him due to his actions is certainly within the employers rights to do so. Football is a privilege, not a RIGHT. Thus, I have no issues with what the owners decide in employing their teams. I don't feel that the commissioner has a right to deny him the opportunity for a non-football activity. But, then again, a murder is a murder. Should Stallworth be aloud to play?

If he wants to go Arena for a year, can the NFL stop him? I mean if the NFL doesn't want him, he could easily go somewhere until they need him. At least it is a job.

Gooddell has a thick head. He thinks his strict punishments are always the right thing.

I do support a lot of things that Goodell has done, but sometimes his punishment is way over the top. He's give guys who have done heinous acts the same amount of time as guys who do minor stuff. His his discipline does not alway meet the crime...

Of course Michael Vick should be reinstated to play in the NFL. Whether that comes immediately or after a suspension is up to the commissioner. Roger Goodell’s mission to scrub the league’s image should not pre-empt Vick’s right to rally from a crime for which he has paid deeply.

Besides, it is the NFL we’re talking about. Character doesn’t exactly live here. It pretty much rents by the week.

If Goodell wants to add a month of games to Vick’s 23-month prison term on a dog fighting conviction, fair enough. Imagine the PR blowback if Vick is starting for somebody’s team on opening day. Plus, the last time Vick talked to the commissioner, he barked a few lies about not being involved. He also lied to his former employer, Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank.

Goodell wants to sense genuine remorse from Vick. He wants to see that Vick has changed. That’s a purely subjective call. You have to think Vick is sorry he lost many, many millions of dollars in salary and endorsements. He’s sorry he’s bankrupt. He’s sorry about losing his reputation and two years of his prime. As for remorse regarding the savagery he practiced on dogs? Who knows?

I wouldn't care if he was banished from the NFL forever.

I'm with you, but the tolerence of our soceity will dictate otherwise. Again, my point is that playing a professional sport is a privelage, not a right.

Watching espn, and a poll suggest that a great deal of americans want to see him back in the NFL, I think it was somewhere near 40 percent for him to come back.

No surprise at all

Last night when I was watching ESPN some of the guys were talking about this very subject.

The reason for the suspension is to benefit Vick, not punish him...
In the history of the NFL there has never been a player come out of federal prison back to the field. They are in uncharted territory. They said that during the brief suspension Vick will have time to adjust to the media and the atmosphere of the league, also his team will have time to prepare for anything that can be thrown their way.

So YES he needs the suspension.

Yes!!!

And 1 question didnt a nfl player kill someone on dui manslaughter and only get 30 days of prison?
#26
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth is going to serve 30 days in jail after pleading guilty in Florida to a DUI manslaughter charge. Yep this guy, so its better to kill humans than dogs as long as u can pay the family?

Excuse me, he was not suspended for 23 months, he was incarcerated, thus had no option of being in the NFL!
#28
That's right SD jail time does not count as NFL suspention time. That's two very different things.

I thought that he was suspended indefinitely from the NFL when he went to jail making the suspension run concurrently with the prison sentence. But I feel that he was made an example of for his crime. Would any normal person caught for dog fighting have gotten 23 months in jail. The answer is no!! He has paid his debt to society and should be allowed to play if someone wants him.

Well they should, every state in the Union has a minimum for conviction!

Do you want to make blanket statements about whether people serve time or not? Look it up! There are multiple cases of criminal felony convictions and jailtime up to five years!
