Should he get inducted in the Hall of Fame?

I am trying to separate myself form the steroids scandals and make a case for him on the merits of his play. He has the numbers, but I just don't see a career that was consistent and one that brought value to his team and the league. He had the great numbers over a five year span, when he was playing second fiddle to McGwire. After he and McGwire both came under scrutiny, his career just died. So, i look at how it died at the end, and then look at the beginning of his career. A career that started witht eh Whitesox and where he was no more than an average baseball player. For me, what he did for those few years was not enough for me to feel he is HOF. You almost have to beleive that 500 homers is automatic for the HOF. IMO, I don't beleive that is going to be the case any longer.
