EDIT: I believe Lance McGrew was the crew chief for this team when it had 25 on the side and Bryan Vickers in the car. He knows his stuff.

HALLELUJAH!
Hendrick will see how it works out with Mccgrew. If it doesnt work then he will go after a heavy hitter (He will offer the moon to Evernham)in the off season. Hendrick has a great track record as far crew cheif changes go so Ill trust his judgement who ever it is.

Sporting News article from 2004 re: McGrew.
Sounds like this is what Junior needs.

I was a HUGE Dale Sr. fan. So naturally I like Jr. He is not my favorite driver (that is actualy Carl Edwards). But I woukld like to see this change help Jr. win a few more races. I would like to see him at least live-up to half of his dad.
BUT, he needs to quit partying so much to do this as well. You can't get drunk on saturday and win a race on Sunday. But i wish him the best, I would like to see him win a lot of races in coming years.

Has anyone heard they were going to hire Tony Eury Sr. to crew chief for Dale?

Junior and Eury Sr. won those championships in the Busch/Nationwide series in the late 1990's! I think they would be a good fit. Eury Jr is still working for Hendrick in another department. I am a huge NASCAR and Dale Jr fan, and I just want to see him succeed. I don't think he will make the chase this year, but I believe things will get better at some point. Of course, I am always optimistic.

I still think that if Dale Jr. had got Alan Gustafson(SP?) crew cheif for Mark Martin, he would be in a lot better position at this point. Of course this is just my opinion and I could be totally wrong.

Just give Mcgrew some time they will be just fine.

How have they done the last two races?

A good driver doesn't constantly miss his pit box on a consistent basis. But I do have to say, that 27th place finish yesterday was a step in the right direction. :lmao:
I'm telling you right now, Eury Jr. was not the problem and one of these days NASCAR fans will realize this fact.

Memorial Gym #5 Wrote:I guess you all should be drivers or crew cheifs!!Dude, we don't have to be. That's why these guys make the big bucks. I don't think it's a coincidence that Gordon, Martin, and Johnson are all in the top 13 in points, and the Hendrick satellite team of Stewart/Haas Racing are 1 and 5 in the points, but Junior is 20th. Junior just is not a good driver, plain and simple. The numbers speak for themselves.

Dude? The numbers never lie, what can I say!

I just could never base my opinion of someone simply by numbers!! Do you think that Mark Martin is a terrible driver because he has never won a championship? There are lots of other things that define a good/great driver other than where they are in points in a given year or how many races they win. I am not trying to argue or defend Dale Jr., but Nascar is a very competitive sport these days. I am a Jeff Burton fan, since Dale Sr. was lost. Here are some numbers to look at!

Yes, it is a very competitive sport, but someone who has all the tools in place to win a race that cannot win is a failure in my opinion. Mark Martin has won quite a few races in his lifetime. Even though he has never won a championship, he has come close many times. But, he also has wins to back up my argument of why he is good. Junior hasn't won more than one race in a year since like 2004. That's 5 years. A great driver does not go that long being ineffective.
Dale Jr. is just in NASCAR because he is the most popular driver. If it weren't for his merchandise sales, then Hendrick would not have been interested in him. Plain and simple.

I just love nascar and always have and always will. I have been going to races since 1987 when I was 14 years old. Things have changed so much over the years and watching Dale Sr. race and watching Dale Jr race is night and day!! I just feel bad for Junior because he will always be thought to be like his dad and he can never be that great!! IMO, it just isn't fair to compare the two. I also, don't think Hendrick signed Junior for his merchandise sales only, they already had Gordon and Johnson and those two combined probably have more sales than Junior alone. Anyway, I am done talking about this, cause it could go on forever. See you all in Michigan Sunday!!

So, how has the change worked out DE Jr.? Was it Eury or the Driver?

Stardust Wrote:So, how has the change worked out DE Jr.? Was it Eury or the Driver?:lmao: I was going to ask the same thing. Dale Jr. really needs to fire Eury Jr. again because obviously Eury Jr. still has some say over the changes made to Jr's car.

I agree. Dale Earnhardt Jr. just isn't that great of a driver..
