Knott's Amburgey
#1
Has anyone heard anything about Amburgey being replaced at Knott? Rumor has it that a former 14th region girls basketball coach will be returning to the area t take over. Is there any truth to what people are saying?

Who might that be? Did they coach at KCC when they coached in the 14th.

He coached the orange and black.

I did hear John High's name and seen him a few times during the district tourney at Knott and I don't think he was there to watch 14th region girls basketball. I heard some girls would transfer their too if he did come back.
#5
i dont look for him to leave at least til this coming up seniors leave

Preliminary discussions have been made.

What the super wants, she will get. Her daughter is involved and she will get the best coach they can find. High would be a good choice. Good luck to them.

I can't see Coach High coming to KCC he will have to be paid a big contract to get him there. He took Rowan Co's job 3 years ago and quit because they didn't give him what they said they would and Rowan Co had loads of players and have made it to the Sweet 16 the last 2 years. I just can't see him wanting to come try to build a program at this stage in his life. Has Chris be fired yet or is this just hear say.

Me either.

Why he could be the single greatest coach to ever grace the sidelines in the 14th region why would anyone want to get rid of him???
#13
I hope Chris gets to stay at KCC.

Who are you talking about?

I seen where Chris got hired for the Freshman Coaching job at Knott, does this mean they have someone in mind for the varisty? Just seemed odd to hire him for that job and he was already the varsity coach. That leads me to believe he is no longer the varsity coach. Anyone heard any possibilities for the Lady Patriots?
#16
I think Chris is going back to work for Rick Wooton and he wont have time to coach the Varsity.
#17
I've talked to Kim King and Chris' contract will be renewed for one more year.

It is true that Coach High was all over the place @ KCC during the district tourney. He and Mrs. King had a very informal talk in the building where he did say he had sold his house in Montgomery County. That is interesting however, idk that he will be @ KCC.

I heard the same thing. I am surprised that J. Amburgey was fired and C. Amburgey was retained. The records are proof.

So is the deal done or what?

You're not the only one that was surprised. If I were Coach Amburgey (Justin) then I would throw the biggest fit in 5 states over losing my job with improvements to the program every year, however the opposite with Chris and he manages to keep his job. Something does smell fishy.

That was the talk around Hazard during the tournament. I wonder why she doesn't get rid of C amburgey. Surely she wants what's best for her daughter. Of course, it helps Hazard if C Amburgey stays. Something does sound fishy. Someone said that her daughter might hold back in 8th grade. Anyone in Knott have any answers??

Chris had done a great job with the program so they need to leave him alone. KC has alot of good young players coming up and they will be fine.

Not under his leadership. His teams have been proven to go down each year. If they get rid of Justin, there is 0 justification of keeping Chris.

I agree. High could take the talent coming up in the ranks at Knott and make some noise. I believe C. Amburgey did just fine in the elementary schools. He might make a good JV coach..

John High He Is One Of The Best Out There

I heard that High went golfing with a group from Jenkins last month to discuss the job there.

06/07 11-16
07/08 23-9
08/09 11-17 young team
Where is the part of proven to go down each year?

The way Megan Mosley played in 07-08 anyone could have had a record like that or even much better. He did have a young team this year, one that was loaded with talent from grade school ranks and instead of improving, many of the players that were good in grade school have gotten worse. There were many times during the course of this year that the team looked like they had never seen a basketball before.

Chris has done an excellent job. He cant help it if those girls cant get their priorities straight. He's NOT their daddy. If they have got worse, its their own fault. I call it lack of commitment. Thats all these parents around Eastern Kentucky want to do is sit back and blame things on a coach when they dont spend 10 minutes a week with their kid working on their kids game. You can only get so much done in a 2 hour practice each day. Pay Chris some money like he deserves and stop expecting him to RAISE your kids for you.
