Junior in the fall.

He's like one of the top 40 sophomores in the nation or state or something like that. He's a tall kid who plays center but shoots the lights out!

This kid is awesome. Tall, lanky, and can shoot. IMO he was the reason Elliott Co. beat Shelby Valley.

I seriously doubt that. He may be one of the more highly recruited players in the state, but not the nation.
Timmy Knipp is around 6'7 (give or take and inch), shoots the ball very well and has unlimited range, good off the dribble. He will remind you a lot of a European player, that is good at shooting and handling, but lacks post skills.
I could see him playing at EKU, Morehead State, or some other mid-major school.

I agree. I think EKU would be a nice fit for him.

Heard the same about Euton. Knipp is not a top 400 player. Good player in Kentucky though.

The sky is the limit for him. He could be a major D-1 player. I have been around a while and I have never seen no one get as much done with so little effort.

Watching him play in the Sweet 16 this year, Timmy Knipp reminded me of a guy who played a Marshall Co. in the mid-90's by the name of Dan Langhi. Langhi went to Vandy and had a nice career, not saying Knipp will have the same type of career and go to Vandy or D-1, only saying he reminded me of him. Good luck Timmy!!

No malice meant to Euton but Knipp is a much better player.

Knipp has very good post skills,And is a legit 6'7" He has major D-1 talent If he keeps his nose to the grind stone he will go to a lot bigger school than these if he so chooses.

Knipp's deffense on CJ Penny impressed me.

To clarify, the last account I had of Timmy on the State listings was top 3 for his class. National, I don't know. The bottom line on this kid. If he fills out in his last two years of high school and goes somewhere that will let him play on the perimiter, he could make a good player at the mid major level. His problem is he's just a low key, non-emotional kid. He has shown up big in his 3 trips to Rupp. As an 8th grader, he was best player on the floor in the first Valley/EC match-up until spraining his ankle, He performed well against Mason the next year, He D'ed up Penny, took it to Valley's bigs, and more than held his own against the more heralded Holmes frontline before fouling out on a horrible call late in the game. The kid can play, it's his heart and attitude that could possibly derail him.

1. Vinny Zollo (photo), Clark County, 6-8: He's already committed to Kentucky and moved to Winchester from Ohio in the offseason.
2. Robbie Stenzel, Clark County, 6-4: I saw Stenzel last winter and was thinking about putting him ahead of Kimbro; he's a lot of fun to watch.
3. Jordan Shanklin, Warren Central, 5-11: One of two talented teammates; Shanklin is already getting a lot of looks.
4. George Fant, Warren Central, 6-6: A little more imrpovement and maturity and we could be talking about top 100 nationally with Fant.
5. Timmy Knipp, Elliott County, 6-7: Extremely athletic for a big guy.
Josh Stroud, Fairdale, 6-4.
Marcellus Barksdale, Tates Creek, 6-2.
Jake McClanhan, East Ridge, 6-7.
Josh Forrest, Paducah Tilghman, 6-4.
Remy Abell, Eastern, 6-2.
Ryan Fucci, Tates Creek, 5-11.
Trey Williams, Greenup County, 6-6.
Leonard Smith, Fulton City, 6-4.
Donovan Kates, Christian County, 6-5.
Treg Setty, Mason County, 6-4.

Not fake, but is a joke.
Also says Valley would be #1 in state and Top 20 nationally with Knipp.

Stenzel is very good. I have had the pleasure to watch both players play and its like comparing apples and oranges because they play two different positions.
Timmy Knipp, IMO, is more of a 3/SF. He dribbles well for a big man and can take it inside. He does have some success in the post but thats the biggest area he needs to improve in. He hits the outside shot well. Someone mentioned earlier that he is like European players and I think thats a very good description of his play, at this time. Stenzel is more of a 1/2 position player and plays it very well. Very quick and decieving. He can take anyone off the dribble. He has played since his 8th grade year and the kid has ice water in his veins (you would know this if you followed GRC). Both are very good players and know their roles very well and play the way that gets the most out of them.

Valley would be very good with Knipp. I would love to see Timmy Knipp in the Valley!

I have watched both players play as well, I said Stenzel was a good player and never indicated anything else.:dontthink His uncle was quite a ballplayer at the old THS.And his grandfather was a pretty good coach and photographer. I just don't believe he is a better player than the two I mention in response to the rankings. Some of the same examples you used in the ladder part of your post describes Timmy Knipp as well.( geographicaly it is impossible to follow GRC in person very much)

Wasn't he just a freshman? Come on his stats were better than that.He does need to lift a little and if he does look out.

I've had the opportunity to see Knipp several times and here's my take:
Athletic for his size, but lacks strength big time. In the game against Holmes, Pittman absolutely abused him down low, pretty much scoring at will and controlling the boards. Knipp needs to improve his defense and figure out whether he wants to be a post player or perimeter player. Once he figures this out, he has the ability to be a low to mid major type player. I can't see him playing above mid major, and that may even be a stretch. It's still early though, so he has two years to improve.
