So the great specatcle of the World Baseball Classic is over. As a baseball fan, who follows the sport as closely as anyone, this event carried absolutely zero interest with me. From the beginning of the event through last night, I can honetly say that I watched no more than a total of approximately 1 1/2 innings of the enitire event. It had no draw for me. Instead, I'm think of how much this has taken away from my team the Reds as they prepare for the season.

Where is my opening day catcher? He's not in Spring training. Instead, Hernandez is getting prepared for the season, albeit playing for his country. But what he's not doing, which is the most important thing for the Reds, is spending the spring (his first ever with the Reds), learning this extremely young pitching staff. The Catcher is the leader on your defense. How can he fill this role, when he doesn't even know what or even who's on his defense.

I like what the WBC was all about, but I as well as many, had no interest in the event.

Makes you wonder what they can do to make it interesting. It really needs to be away from the regular baseball season so a lot of Americans can play and not have to worry about regular baseball season.

Cancel it!

You can't do it at the end of the season, after these players have already played 162 games, you have to give them time off. It's programing for ESPN, nothing more. No body cares about this in the US. The US ratings were abysmal.

I personally thought that this was USA's tournament to lose.
