Shelby Valley vs. Johnson Central (15th semifinals)
#1
This is the game that many thought might be the regional final, although as usually happens the draw didn't fall out that way. Just like last year when SV and Paintsville met in an epic battle, the consensus top two teams meet in the semifinals.

What are your predictions?

I dont look for this to be near the match up SV and Paintsville was, Valley puts this one away early. SV by 20 or more!

According to the radio this game is Saturday at 4:30, why so early???

I didn't mean to say I was expecting an ESPN Instant Classic like last year's Paintsville/SV battle. Just that for the second year in a row, the top two teams were meeting in the semi's.

And the reason why the game is so early is it is the beginning of a tripleheader at the Expo on Saturday. SV/JC at 4:30, the other boys' semi at 6, then the girls' championship at 7:30.

I would love to see JC upset Valley! But I am going to use my head and say Valley by 15+

With the show they put on tonight, SV seems to be hitting on all cylinders right now. And seeing how JC struggled with the same Belfry team that Valley demolished last week, I'm tempted to say SV will blow them out of the water.

But, I expect Johnson Central to play their best game of the year on Saturday. If SV isn't at their best, this could be a tight game. But, I think they will pull away with the win, even if JC stays close for a while.

Valley by 15.

Sv 20+

Sv by 17, I though this game is friday?

JC had better bring a whole lot more than they did tonight... A whole lot more. I think this ones over early.

Exactly from what I saw of both teams this one shouldn't be close, I'll say SV is tired of hearing JC will give them a game and come out and lay one on them SV by 20+ in this one.:redboxer:

JC's guards will see Valley's guards in the their nightmares after this one. Johnson Central has a good team, but I don't see them even making this a game.

Valley wins this one by 20+.

If they can hold SV to only 54 pts (correct me if I'm wrong) just like Perry Central did, then I say JC has a legit chance to knock them off...if not, well....I'll just agree with everyone else's posts up to now.

It was actually 64 points, not 54. SV beat PCC 64-60.

Actually, JC had better hope they hold SV to under 70 points. Valley has only given up 70+ points twice all year, and both games were within the same week in December where Elisha Justice was hurt. So it's not likely that JC will have an offensive explosion.

JC has to hope that Valley has an off-night shooting, but even then I still think their defense can carry them to the win anyway.

.

Before they started toying around with Betsy Layne, Valley was HOT tonight.

I just checked all their scores this season, and found out that SV has only given up more than 60 points six times all year, out of 32 games. And again, of those six, three were during the period Justice was injured. Two others were recent games where the opposing team only broke 60 long after the game had been decided and the bench players were in. So JC may want to plan on holding SV to under 60 points if they want to win.

Shelby Valley is playing lights out, if only they were hitting free throws.

Should beat Johnson Central by 20+. I look for better inside play.

This is going to kill them at state where they won't be winning every game by 20+.
#17
SV will be too much for the eagles to handle SV all night long
#18
Should be a very good test for SV, but I still see a 12+ point victory for SV.
#19
Valley by 10

First of all, I would love to see a fellow 57th team win this game. I have to go with Valley though. If JC cant handle the pressure, then Valley wins this one by 30. Good luck to both teams and I hope both teams goes injury free.
#21
Shouldn't even be a game to it... SV by 20+.
#22
from what i saw last night johnson didn't play up to what people have been saying about them. they barely got by belfry.
#23
They didnt play to good last night in my opinion. They missed way to many open shots, layups, and had to many turnovers. I expect a different team to show up tomorrow night.
#24
Not even close. Johnson Central didn't impress me when I watched them. They don't look like they can handle the speed and power Valley has. I dont think anyone can handle Elisha Justice to be honest. So, I say Valley 25+.
#25
it would take alot to beat valley. i'm pretty sure they will have this game won by half time!
#26
Does anyone realize that three young men that these boys went to school with just died? One funeral was yesterday the other two today. I thought they played rather well to be dealing with such a tragic loss. And SV only scored 87 on BL if they want to show they are best you dont let up in tourney time and "go easy" on anyone.

Valley 15+

gtowntiger,

This game was over within the first 3 minutes of the game.

For goodness sakes, Valley scored 87 points, and could have scored well over 100 if they wanted to.

I think for some people, Valley can't play good enough defense; they can't score enough; they can't do enough to prove their the best in some's eyes.

If they didn't let up and they beat BL by 60 or 70 all you would hear would be, "How could they do this?" or "This was a bad coaching decision, what if one of the starters gets injured?"

So to criticize Valley for only scoring 87 points (and do you realize that BL only scored 8 points the first Qtr, 7 points the second Qtr, and 8 points the 3rd Qtr) is absurd.

I know that Johnson Central lost three of their own this past weekend, but wouldn't this make the JC's players want to play even harder? I know if I was a JC Golden Eagle basketball player I'd be playing for those boys and not look for any excuses win or lose.

Well this is the match-up that everybody has been anticipating...let's see what JC's can bring to the table..
