Has anyone heard of any colleges looking at him?
02-27-2009, 12:30 PM
Hasn't really been mentioned on this site but I would love to hear about him.

Louisville, Pitino is really high on him!
02-27-2009, 01:49 PM
no he is to small

If you can handle the ball as well as he can, and we all know he can because he dribbles circle around everyone that they have played, most of the time dribbles too much, but he can handle the rock, coaches like the way he doesn't make turnovers and gets the ball where it is needed. He does need to get on the weights to be able to defend a bigger guard, but he has the offensive tools and the quickness to play at the next level.

He will probably end up at Pikeville or ALC.

might want to look at where brother is going to be going next year. LMU is not playing ryan and I think he willbe going somewhere else next year.

I think that Josh is capable of walking-on at UK or Louisville. Not sure that he is worthy of a scholarship from any D-1 schools just yet. I think he is a player that Centre College may attract.

If Michael Porter can start at UK!!! I think anything is possible!!!! Good luck with whatever you do Josh!!
this kid is a good player and seems like a good kid. but for the people that think he can play at the level of UK or a U of L evidently have never played against or with D1 players!! His size for one kills him, his speed, his strength, just to name a few odds against him. The speed and strength of D1 level competition is unreal!!! he can work on his speed and strength but his size will kill him! I hope he can (play D1) but I don't think right now he can. If anyone can help him achieve that goal it would be his dad. His dad was one of the best fundamentally sound players and hard workers in eastern ky years ago (he played at clinch valley now UVA Wise) he knows what it takes to make it.

He has one thing you have to have to play at the D-1 level, and that is quickness. You cannot teach that. He will get stronger. He probably won't play at a UK or o U of L, but it would be great to see. It takes a real talent to play at EKU or Morehead today.

Doesnt seem to be. Because Whitaker can make open shots.

I think he would be a very solid player @ the NAIA level or Division 2.
02-28-2009, 02:23 AM
I think he is good enough to play basketball at Div. ll level. Good luck to him on whatever may happen though.
I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok -Shaquille O'Neal

he may dribble a circle around everybody in high school, but at louisville. no, and plus he carries the ball everytime he touches it.

Lets just remember, Whitaker is playing in possibly one of the worst regions in the state of KY, while Porter is playing in the SEC, which is D-1. I mean, if you are gonna actually compare the two, which is insanely stupid, I am gonna say that is just a little bit of a different playing field. Just a little.

You can't say the 14th region is one of the worse regions in the state...It is prlly a top 6 region

WHAT!!!IMO we have three Div-1 players in this region, plus 3 teams that if everything is clicking and they are making there shots, they can make a run at the state title. I am not saying that they will win. I am just saying they can go far in the tourney.

Look Dickie V, I never said he was better!!! I said if he can start at UK anything is possible!!! That doesn't mean I think he is better than Porter, and Porter is no three "S" man baby!!! Everyone on here takes everything the wrong way and needs to read things before they just start typing something!!

IMO he isn't good enough to play anywhere at the next level. Remember this is just my opinion.

Wow, give me a break. The day the 14th region is one of the 6th best in the state is the day I quit watching high school basketball.
Regions that are better. The 11th, 10th, 5th, 7th, 4th, 2nd, 9th, and the 6th.
The 12th, 13th, and 16th are pushing the 14th as well. I guess it's just the fact that you guys don't get out and go to other parts of the state and watch these teams play, I don't know. Why do you think 14th region teams are rated so low in state polls, and especially when they get down to the Sweet 16?

Now come on, 3? And even if there is 3, compare that to the 10th, 11th, 16th(Elliot County has that many and some on their team) the 9th, and so on and so on. And make a run at a state title? WHAT? Look what happened to Knott County when they played the big boys. Well here I'll just tell ya. South Laurel beat em 14, LCA beat em 13, and Boone County beat em 23. Hazard took a beat down from Clark County, lost to a St, X team who is barely at .500, lost to Bardstown, and Holmes beat em 13. Perry is the only team who could actually make a run at winning a game or two down there. Come on.

Well I'm so sorry memorial gym. I take back what I said. He could start at UK.

Josh is a good kid, but he doesnt have what it takes to play D-1 ball, he is just to small. If your as small as he is your have to be as quick as lighting and be able to get up and down that floor in a blink of an eye and he isnt that quick. From what I watched him this year, he palmes that ball an awful lot also, but it isnt like they call it anyway.
03-01-2009, 06:18 PM
when you are allowed to carry the ball everytime you touch it, it makes you that much better a ball handler
03-01-2009, 06:22 PM
I've saw him play a few times and didn't think the carrying was that bad, but heck, about 20 different posters are saying he does it a lot.

you people are really crazy sometimes..... nobody in that resion is going singing D1. It has happened 3 times in the last 20 years, and justin hicks is better than all 3 of the people you are referring to. If one of them signs a D1 scholarship then all props to your basketball knowledge, and the 14th region from top to bottom is a joke this year. look at what happened to perry, knott, and hazard in the lexington catholic holliday tournament when they played decent teams. the reason they seem better is because the rest of the state is down, including the louisville and lexington areas from top to bottom. kentucky just isn't a good high school basketball state, although all of you think that these players are amazing. There are some decent naia, D2, D3 players in the 14th, but wait and see. I am not trying to knock people at all, but comments like this show you have no idea what kind of level Division 1 basketball is. It is a totally different level. Some of this is laughable. ethan faulkner, a point guard, signs with northern kentucky, and now josh whitaker who isn't near the player as ethan is getting looked at by louisville. i'm sorry but sosa and mcgee are a little bit better than that:please:

I agree that this half of the state really doesn't put out players with enough size and talent combined for the right positions to make D-1 players. Its a shame though, Id sure like to see more KY boys from home play at big schools!
