Soccer is not a big thing around here, it's football and basketball.

If any of you remember Pikeville used to have a minor league baseball team, it was affiliated with the Cubs.
Greg Maddux used to pitch for the team in Pikeville.

Yeah my dad talks about seeing Maddux and B.J. Surhoff play here. I would be in ABSOLUTE HEAVEN with a minor league baseball team here. I live and breathe baseball. My fiancee and I would be season ticket holders 1 and 2. 
And I'm also glad someone else also found calling the Miners "thugs" offensive. It really bothers me to hear that, and rebs isnt the first one that I've heard say that. I always defend them. They all seem like such great guys. I talked to last years team during a meet and greet and each and every one of them were so polite and willing to take pictures as long as people were there. They all seemed so appreciative for all of the fans. Jason McLeish was one of the standouts. He stood and joked and cut up with everyone that was there. I've seen the guys turn around and sign autographs and talk to kids who finally got the courage to walk up to the bench during a ballgame. So nice.

The word is, if the Miners didnt hold up (Attendance & Record) then Pikeville would recieve an Arena Football team. Many locals have already been asked to be put on the list to come tryout at the fact that we get one. Morely Pikeville College players and High School legends in their 20's and 30's. I sure as god hope so. Id be a fan in-definately!
The CBA team was good to have for about 10 games, 3 of the 5 starters went pro. So whats the use?

I would love to see a arena football team in pikeville..........I love to just tryout for that.....
