Johnson Central 85 - Paintsville 59
#1
Final.

Congrats Eagles!
#2
Nice win JC...good team ball played tonight...looked much better.

Great win for the Eagles, starting to look like a team. Looked like JC has 10 good quality kids to play and contribute, lots of room for everyone.

It felt like the majic with the P'ville rivalry is gone. Seems like our games with Magoffin or Lawrence mean more and are more exciting.

Was Tiller for P'ville hurt? I did not see him much in the second half. He saw some serious D tonight from the Eagles

This game was more like I had expected the first one to be. JC really looked good most of the game. They got sloppy a few times, but actually played more like a team than I have seen in a while. I just hope that they didn't just get up because it was Paintsville and then go back to the lackluster performances they can come out with (ie. PCC). If they can play like tonight, then they should win the 57th and make a run in the 16th. Cody Parker is a great one, especially for his age. But I don't think they can handle SV though.

As for Tiller, I think he has a wrist issue of some sort. He struggled tonight and I guess it was bothering him. Once the game was pretty much over, I guess the coaches figured there was no need putting him in for the 4th and risking making it worse.

Congrats JC! After the 4 meetings last year, the Eagle fans deserved to win one! Good luck the rest of the way!

I know what you mean, hard to rival with some of your best friends though.
Tiller is going to be one tough ball player in a couple years. I thought he was hurt at one point in the game. P-ville keep your heads up... keep playing hard.

JC played very well, very physical last night. Very aggressive on defense. Tiller had hurt his wrist(shooting hand) on Tue. and was questionable. Most of his ball handling was with his off hand and his shooting touch was affected somewhat with the heavy taping. He still showed that he was one of the best in the region though he only was able to score 10 points in limited action. JC shot 55% from the field and had 39 boards. They did however have 16 turnovers which they need to cut down on. I thought Vialpando might have played his best game and Seth Daniel showed that PHS not only has the best 8th grader in the region by far, but the best freshman as well! Years of good basketball to follow for the Paintsville faithful.
MonsterMan, How can you say JC is 10 deep? They play an 8 man rotation and even after leading by 30- 32 the entire second half, never took their starters out until the last minute of the game? Parker was even left in til he fouled out when they had a 30 point lead. JC played tight extended Man D, and full court pressed nearly the whole game.
Congrats Eagles, you all played very well.
Tigers, keep your heads up as I know you will.

Paintsville is having a tough year as everyone already knows. JC is a much more dominate team this year and it shows. It will be much better next year after JC loses this great Sr. class. They won't be able to double team Green and will not have near enough to stop Tiller. Not saying PHS will win every time. but the games will be a whole lot closer.

Guru you always seem to find something wrong with my post, but I at least know you are reading them. I still say JC has a good solid 10 man rotation they can use, you will see.

Do I detect a little big 5A school picking on a little 1A school again? I never knew of P'ville pulling their starters or worrying about the score in years past.
Like I said earlier, this rivalry seems to have lost its fun. I have never seen fewer P'ville fans at at JC-P'ville game. This will just be another district game in years to come.

The P'villle kids played hard but their age showed up last night. I think JC has several good years to look forward too as well. Good size and numbers. Tiller is going to be a great player, but I think all the schools in the 57th have good young players and it will be a tough district in years to come.

Great team effort Eagles! You have swept P'ville this year, now set your sights higher and get ready for a very tough district.

LOL, I am really not trying to pick on you. But you said they had a 10 man rotation and now say they still do. I only pointed out that they used an 8 man rotaion until the last minute of the game. Who are 9 and 10? Did you not think it would have been silly to risk an injury this late in the year in a game that at least most thought a 30 point lead after was enough after 3 periods? But I guess seeing that Paintsville cut 6 points of the lead in that last minute after players 9,10, 11 and 12 were put into the game.

I thought the Daniels kid shot his arm off last night. No way he is the the best freshmen in the 15th region.

It appears that P'ville is going to hang their hat on this group for the future. Tiller is going to be a great player, but you are putting a bulls eye on him at a very young age. Lot of good young talent at that age in the middle schools of all the district schools who have not played varisty yet. Thes P'ville kids are great kids and work hard. They are not up where the Landon Slone team was at this age. We have some very outstanding seniors and they will be missed! Unless I am blind, we have some of the best kids in the region comng back and some good kids coming off JV. Our Middle School group is good too so Coach M will have as much talent as anyone to put on the floor and numbers to back them up.

Guru, we need to get over how good our teams will be and look at the rest of the district. Lawrence, Sheldon clark and Magoffin will be there too. No one will have an easy walk through this district for many years.

As far as P'ville having a better team than JC is coming years will be decided on the court by the kids, and alot of things can happen in the next 4 or 5 years.

I am not putting any target on anyone. I was sceptical about Tiller at the beginning of the year. He is as good as advertised. I actually think you have to go back to Todd Tackett to find as good or better 8th grader, and that was like 15 years ago. I never said Paintsville was going to be better than JC, although I do believe it but that is just my opinion.I said the games would be a lot closer. And I do believe PHS will win their share of the games.
All I am really trying to say is that starting next year, I believe that everyone will have to start putting Paintsville back in the mix.
The kids at JCHS are great and I truly love them. They know it. I have several JC kids in my youth group and they can tell you just how I feel. Heck...I sat most of the JV game with a JC starter that I love and care about very much. Several of the players know me and we always talk and hug each other every time we see each other. I don't hate JC, I respect them and always will.

Considering PHS shot 35% from the field it looked like everyone shot their arms off. Wasn't his best game by far, 17 points last night, and he still had a double double and 2 blocked shots. I will take that from a frosh anytime considering the size and athletes he was playing against.

You have got to be kidding me. This has got to be the funniest thing I have ever heard. You win 2 games this year and now it's over.

Let me help rekindle your fire.

Over the last 4 seasons (NOT counting this season), Paintsville has a record of 10 WINS and 3 losses to JC.

Now including this season. For the last 12 seasons:
Paintsville has an overall record of 23 WINS and 11 losses to JC.
OH......and a State Runner's Up Trophy!

Now if you will look at those seasons. You will see that there were seasons where JC won more games than PHS. IT happens. So don't go and get the bighead so fast. Just because you won 2 games against this team. You just watch the battles that these two teams have on the floor over the next 3 seasons. THEN try and say the rivalry is gone.

JC just has the better team this year. Hands down.

I can not speak for the P'ville fans, but alot the JC side is ready to move on and the P'ville rivalry thing does not work for us anymore, just another game. We will have some great games in the future, but we will with the rest of the district teams too.

It is nice to dream on what was, but it will not get you what will be, you earn it.

Nice job eagles and coach M. Sounded like the adjustments and rotation coach M has found is working somewhat better for him and the team. Rolleyes(By the way MM it has been an 8 man all season.) Appeared JC started back to the old ways but recovered pretty quickly. Keep this up and great things might happen................AS far as Pville, Great effort as well, you all got to appreciate these boys also as well as their parents. The rivalry is just about gone.......So what. As I have said I will and do support both Johnson Co. teams.

Good post, the district will be very competitive for the next few years and no one can be overlooked. Going to be some great games to watch. Tiller is going to be special. Both teams need to move on and get ready for the district run. The game last night was a great victory for JC but it is over and will not get you any points in the next game.

From an eyewitness of some damage that happened to my property, I can tell you at least one kid on the JC side that isn't ready to move on. $450.00 out of my pocket to repair said damage says the rivalry is still strong to him. Pretty ironic that I am one of the main ones that says I am PV first, then Johnson county second as far as rooting for those teams against the rest of the 15th goes.

Their is no excuse for that behavior, but I know of people on the JC side that have had to have tires replaced, houses painted and cars painted. You are lucky with just $450.00! This is what most of us will not miss with the rivalry going away.

Yes, I hope it ends if that is what it causes. Before this, nothing has happened to me personally.
