Sheldon Clark Closed Indefinitely
#1
MARTIN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- From blown away barns to crushed carports, widespread wind damage estimates will add up to some serious dollars for folks in Martin County.

Sheldon Clark High School is indefinitely closed due to snapped and mangled power poles which provide the main source of power for the school.

ssistant Principal David Nichols says they are already struggling to make up more than a month worth of weather cancelled school days.

“It puts us more behind, we've got CATS testing coming up and we've already lost 21 days this year to the ice storm and now this one,” Nichols said.

he wind peeled back the barn roof behind Stephanie Washburn’s home like a sardine tin.
Washburn says she's lucky to get a trickle of water from her tap, a severe wind hit at the water plant has most of Inez dry.

“My mom and dad had to come here. They've got no power, phone, water anything,” she said.

Folks at Sheldon Clark High say they will likely move the big wrestling tournament this Saturday to the Inez Middle School.
