Breaking New: A-Rod tested positive...
#1
Per Sports Illustrated, Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steriods during the 2003 season.

I say he deserves no special treatment and his records should be gone. I was actually pulling for him to crush the record too. Oh well just goes to show that it's hard to trust anyone.
#3
Not a surprise. Very upsetting.

Oh how we thought Jose Conseco was such a liar! Every person he called out in his book has proved to have used!
#4
Not really a surprise but with everybody pushing for him to be the anti Barry Bonds it is disappointing. I guess this goes to show that with steroids and baseball you can't trust anyone.
#5
Interesting to see how fans react to him this season.

Hmmm, I wonder if he gets much support from the Boston fans????
#7
He should be banged as hard as Bonds has on this.

He probably will
#9
He's a Yankee. Who cares.
#10
Honestly tired of already hearing about.
#11
I think its safe to say that nearly every player in MLB during that time was juiced.
#12
Is anyone on Earth actually shocked?

You're right. It is starting to be old news. It will affect everyone of these players in the public eye, but the Public has grown immune to it.

No, and that's probably the shame of all of this. We have all gotten to the point of "who cares". Liars are Liars, and that's all this have been proving of late.

Money is all that matters. It's not 'the love of the game' anymore. Before the players wanted to go to a team that had a chance at winning, and played their hearts out like every game was the WS. Now you get offered a zillion dollars a year on the Royals, or a few million less on lets say, the Angels, and you can bet they go to the Royals. Steroids only improves their numbers, thus improving their worth.

I don't think it's a big deal

You don't think it's a big deal that MLB players in the last decade have cheated to break some of the most coveted titles in Baseball history? :flame:

Nope. Steroids weren't banned by the MLB when he used them. If he thought they could make his game better, elevate him to one of the best players ever, make him more entertaining to watch, why wouldn't he take them?

Agreed. Smile

Haha glad to hear.. honestly its a lot of pressure on the guys in the pros. We pressure them all the time to be better, and he did nothing in violation of MLB rules to make himself better. I think any sensible person would have done the same.

Derek Jeter! The only purist left in the game!

Why does it matter if it was in 2003?

It just tells me that we have one possitve test from 2003. It likely means that he used prior and since. It also means that he is the liar that swore he never did steroids.
#29
This is ridiculous, he was positive in 2003 when steriods werent illegal. 3/4 of the players took steriods when they werent illegal. There are many other players that have took steroids you dont see them hitting 40+ homers a year.

Where are you getting your information? Steroids is a banned substance and always has been in the United States. They were NOT legal in 2003 and if you were found with them you were charged with a folony.

What you are confusing is that Major League Baseball did not have steroids on their list of un-approved drugs as of 2003. I find this rediculous in itself that sports should have to say you can't use an illegal substance. If it's illegal, then why did MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL all have to say you can't use it???

It's the same argument about Michael Phelps and the Bong. People want to blow it off as it's just a little pot, everyone has done it, he's young. That's BS, it's illegal, so he should have been smart enough to not have a picture of him doing it.

As for your final comment: There are many other players that have took steroids you dont see them hitting 40+ homers a year. It's not that steroids were the only factor of hitting homeruns. I'll use Bonds an an example. How did Bonds cheat mother nature by increasing his home-run output once he turned 40 than at any other time in his career. Yeah, steroids would have made him stronger, which probably helped him hit a few more homeruns, but what it did do for him was it gave him the "fountain of youth". Physilogically, it gave him an advantage that no other player his age has ever achieved. He stayed healthy when someone like Griffey Jr.'s body broke down every year. Bonds could hit homeruns because he was able to play.

If you want proof that Steroids makes in impact, go read Conseco's book. As much as everyone thought he was a liar and only out to make a buck, he has turned out to be the only credible source on the entire steriods issue!
