Final!
Valley played excellent during the first 3 quarters, but blew a 14-point lead in the 4th quarter and missed 11-straight free throws toward the end.
Justice, Bryant, Adams, Hatfield, and Varney played really good games today.
Congrats Valley!!!

Thank goodness this debate is over for now as to who the better team is. Big Congrats to Shelby Valley on this huge win, holding Elliot County to 52 points is amazing. Hopefully we get to see a rematch later in the year at Rupp.

Great win for SV

Yes even though we did all we can to lose...

Valley just about Blew it, missing their 11 last free throw's. Valleys D is what kept EC from not winning.
Big Congrats to Vallley and congrats to EC on playing a heck of a game

I can't believe this team can't shoot free throws any better than they do. I bet Shelby Valley will be worn out for the championship.
Elliot was untested on the year as far as facing a good defense. Shelby Valley must have exposed a lot of their weaknesses in this one.

congrats valley

Great game by both teams, Valley almost let it slip from their hands. Valley really needs to start making those ft's because you can bet Bardstown was at that game watching. I think Valley's defense kept them in this game.
Grats to Valley on a hard faught victory!!

I doubt the debate is over.
Both are obviously very good teams. Great job by valley dictating the pace of the game. Great job by Elliott County for fighting through on a day when they were not hitting many shots.
Pesonally I still think Elliott County is a little better. This round went to Shelby Valley. I hope these teams do get to play again. That would be a treat.

its awesome baby with a capital A, bring it home VALLEY and coach Booher Pike and Floyd countys are so proud of you guys!!!!!!!!

Did not think they could do it but was proved wrong, which really isn't that big of a deal as it happens often. Great job Valley, now bring the All A trophy back to the 15th. Good Luck this afternoon.

Elliott County has been tested. Shelby Valley just played better. Thats all. Sometimes I think we read way to much into the outcome of a game.

For now the debate is over, at least until they meet again. Just like after the last time they played 2 years ago.
But yes, hopefully they meet up again in Rupp. Would be a great game again.

If Valley could of hit all their free throws then this game would of been a 15-20 margin for Valley, But I guess Presure can really get to you lol

Will anyone be back on here for the Championship game

Congrats to Shelby Valley on a well-played game (minus the missed freethrows). You boys are really beginning to show the rest of the state just how good you all can be. Keep up the good work and get us another big win today.

and they were tested by a good D but lack there of team in Morgan Co. earlier on this season and narrowly escaped with a win. Its obvious if you have the right defense this Elliot County team will not shot you out of the gym. Not saying they arent a good team because obviously they are a great team.

I have yet to look at the pairing for the sweet 16, but what would each team have to do to make it to a rematch at Rupp (besides winning their Region)

Congrats to Valley!! Good job! Now bring back the title and take out Bardstown!
My observations about the EC game:
(1) SV did all they should have done. They out rebounded the Lions; they took care of the ball limiting EC's points off TO's; they slowed the game down; they played great D limiting the Lions to 35.7% FG and held them under 70 points which is crucial; and they controlled the boards and limited the Lions second chance points. That is a key to success IMO. SV's D and tempo is what won this game for them.
(2) That still doesn't prove that SV is best though. Just that they got it done today. EC is a very good ball team and is very dangerous if they get hot. But they are sort of limited if they can't hit their 3's and play a team with Valley's weapons.
(3) I cannot figure out why SV took Adams out for most of the 4th quarter?? Does anyone have any idea. SV needed to keep pounding the ball inside and keep up the offensive pressure, not just sit on a 14 point lead. It doesn't take a team like EC very long to make that leap if they were to start hitting 3's. Not a smart move IMO by SV coaching staff. But they had the right game plan and I'll have to give them props on that.
Congrats to both teams the rest of the way!!

win their first round game

I think the biggest key to the game was Timmy Knipp for Elliott County. He has to be assertive on offense for Elliott to win against good teams that have good size.

Looks to me like it you can keep EC offbalance on their 3 attempts, you can beat them. But, they showed at the end of the game no lead is too much. A lot is being said about SV's poor freethrow shooting, but it was their D that broke down after playing so well in the previous 3 quarters, what happened to SV's defense versus their FT shooting is a question of mine????

no but I do believe Scott Co, Holmes , Valley and Elliot Co is in the bottom bracket, if they all win their region that is

I like Elliott's potential Draw, Mason & SV are built a like. Most in EKY have the chance to see what Mason looks like when the come to EC to play. I expect Mason to play much the same way as SV did today against SV. An SV MC matchup could be like looking in a mirror. SV's PG will be better
