#15 Male advance in LIT

The Bulldogs (11-4) turned up their defense in the second half and became the sixth Seventh Region team to reach tomorrow's quarterfinals. They'll face Eastern at 7 p.m.

Male led just 34-32 at halftime, but the Maroons (6-9) shot only 26.9 percent (7 of 26) in the second half. Madisonville star Jon Hood had 13 points at halftime but hit just 2 of 10 second-half shots and finished with 19 points, 18 rebounds and five blocks.

"Kevin Glenn did a really good job on him," Male coach Tom Crews said.

Glenn also had 17 points to lead Male. D'Carlo Hayes added 14 points and four steals. Hayes scored six of his points during a 15-2 run that made it 58-40 with 3:58 left

Hood has absolutely no help around him. This lets teams focus on double teaming him. It's a shame he's not on a better team. Many times Mr. KY Basketball comes from the teams that make it to Rupp.

Playing in the state tournament will give a candidate in the running the edge and winning the state tournament almost makes it a shoe in (if it's a close race).
