I know Jason Michael won a National Championship at WKU as the starting QB and has coached at UT and last I heard he was an assistant in the NFL. Not sure about the other two.

Would everyone care to post what school each player came from? I honestly don't know them all and it would help me out.

This question is to broad. I think you might want to ask who is the best at a particular position. You cant group a QB and a lineman unless you want to know who the better athlete is. Obviously the skill players are better athletes than lineman. I think the question is way to broad to answer.jmo

Rex Johnson - Fleming-Neon
Bobby Short - Fleming-Neon

Both were smashmouth, hit you in the gut for 4 quarters, Running Backs for Fleming-Neon back in the day. Neither played college, though. Rex died in a coal mining accident and his son Blake went on to play F-N middle school football then moved to play for Johnson Central, then played at Pikeville 1 year on a scholarship. Bobby Short is my 2nd cousin. He had a scholarship from Marshall but in his senior year he blew out his knee. If he hadn't blown out his knee he was going to sign on to play for the Herd, but the knee possibly saved his life. If he had played for MU, then he would've been in the accident in 1970. They were just a couple that are "legends" I guess you could say here in Neon. As a kid, well not so much a kid but a teenager (14), I always here stories from my family members about how these two RB's would just flat out run you over!

I'm just saying who are some of the Wow players you have seen from Eastern KY to ever play. I believe position does not matter.
#22
The three best I ever played against were Tony Mayes (Paintsville), Greg Hackney (Pikeville), and David Hall (Wheelwright)
#23
Didnt The Manning Brothers Go To Sheldon Clark Or Paintsville Or Something??
#24
Shawn Robbins - Bell Co. has to be mentioned as one of the best high school players ever in the mountains.
#25
Kasey Clark-Russell

Tim Couch, #1 overall pick. Set numerous passing records. End of story. No one else can compare. He did alot without a ton of talent around him. A true testament to him, his teammates, and coaches. Hands down best of all time. The thread stops here.

Why should it stop here. The thread asked about PLAYERS not just player. Couch was great, but he was not the only one.
