Not really great speedwise...but power no doubt

I don't know to me (if this makes sense) I think he runs so fast it looks like he is in slow motion. I've seen Dylan Smith from Harlan County run down a lot of people the past few years and the fugate kid outran him. As for the toughness you just can tackle him high, my Black Bears never really realized that and the fact that he wears that small practice type jersey doesn't give a person much to grab onto once he has you beat.

He is fast but i dont think he is the one of the 5 fastest in the state top 10 though...power wise hes #1 in my eyes then comes Cody Jones i think is his name from Whitley..but the some fast backs are Greg Adams, Demetri Travis, and Austin Blanton is pretty fast
#6
Yeah I'm just biased because I saw him run all over my Black Bears twice!

Power + Speed = Channing Fugate, Mikael Campbell, Austin Blanton, Caleb Watkins, Ryan Fritts and Dominque Hayden, Nathan Dillion

Speed= Nehimaih Doderer

I agree with this list. Another off season in the weight room and the power portion just gets better. Can't wait 'till next season and it is only January!

KP Skyles from sheldon clark has both he was only a freshman this year and was the fastest guy on the team this year and will trun alot of heads ...he is also very strong as well his bench is over 3 and squat is close to 4 as a freshman so i think he will trun lots of heads

Hey......I think I'll start calling Channing "Hannah Montanna" because he is the best of both worlds. His little sister will get a kick out of that.
#11
Playing on a passing team, Buzzy Johnson of Campbell County is one of the best backs in NKY.
#12
No doubt Channing Fugate will be #1 contender for Mr Football in The Mtns. and just maybe state wide with even close to the year he had this year ,Mr 3000 will do the state well and we i know he will do the Bobcat Nation well so Go gettem Channing..

1.Duece Finch
2.Channing fugate
3.Devin foster

Deuce Finch graduates and will be playing at the next level.

As far as Corbin goes Caleb Watkins was and will be the fastest back. Ryan Fritts is quick and can make you miss. With work in the weight room these two can add some Wow power to their run.
#15
Harlan County-T.J Green power back
#16
A little bit of a wild card to throw out there is Ross McCoy. He didnt get many carries last year for the Panthers because of the studs he had in front of him (Harmon and Cleary), but the kid can hit the hole hard, run over a saftey, and then its off to the races.
#17
Channing has both. By the time this next year rolls around his speed will rival anyones. He works his tale off during the off season and I expect him to be more of a man amoung boys out there his year.
#18
No doubt all the boys on this list have a great off season work ethic ---- all will improve--- it will be fun to watch all of them next year.
#19
id have to say devin foster wil be competiting agianst fugate for most yards next year.

-Channing fugate had 3000 yards as a junior
-with a line that was probly close to 1000lbs or more from what i can tell

-devin foster had 2200 yards as a sophmore
- with a line that was small and not very powerful weighing only about 800lbs

2009 season

Union lost 1 tackle on O line others are sophmores will get better and gain some size

Breathitt from what i undersand looses both their tackles or O line men im sure of

i believe that it will be close for the most yards rushing between these 2 backs

Add to the power Bratton of JC and for speed Jude and Hall of JC.
#21
You gotta give Dominique Haden some credit. He's a bowling ball running the ball. He then backs up to safety and chases down the fastest backs around from sideline to sideline. Pretty remarkable athlete.

I think Mikael Campbell will suprise some people also next year. He's a different style runner than what Hazard has been used to with Adams, but in the games he ran the ball this year, seems like he gets down hill fast and always gets positive yardage, usually getting 5 to 6 per carry. And no doubt the kids tough, he played D-line 2 years ago and weighed about 150 pds.
#23
Some people doesnt see Channing running away from people. I know of numerious times that kids were on Channings hills and he threw on the after burners and pulled away. Then there is times that he just ran threw people. Sounds like both size and speed to me.

I agree that JJ Jude kid is fast.

I agree. I think he is up to 170 now and i believe he is looking to get up to about 185 or 190 if he possible can. He definately has the frame to add weight and be a much stronger force than what people think. I really hope to see Austin Blanton on the field as he will be applying an appeal to play his senior season after being forced too stay back when he moved here several years ago. I hope he gets eligible because I see making the kid stay back as punishment its the least the khsaa can do for not letting him graduate with his original senior class.

Fugate made a lot of plays on his own (not to disrespect his line), but he ran over and by a lot of would be tacklers this year.
#27
Fugate
Drew Abrams from Russell
the RB from LCA
Denton and Carver from Raceland

Thats my 5 power backs.

And from everything I've heard he's one of the hardest workers in the weight room. It'd be nice to see him about 180 next year and retain his speed. He'd be hard to handle.

I agree. I remember his 8th grade year he lead the team in 8th grade to the big sandy championship. He was one of many players that helped that team and that will be the same team this year except for joey meehan and maybe austin blanton if he isnt eligible to play.
#30
Bell has some good talent at the running back spot. I will not mention any names at this time but some of you already know who they are. If not you will see them next season.
