Congrats to Elliot. A good showing for them and the state at a major tournament.

I heard that Southside was the Number 1 in SC. Either way, congrats to elliot. Their only loss coming to Cedar Hill, TX by 10. Who is ranked number 7 in the nation according to Maxpreps.com. They came out really nervous, or so it seemed, all of their shots were long. Ferguson went 0-8 from the 3pt line for the game. He hits a few of those and its a different situation. They also seemed to have no answer for the 6'7'' Gibson. For what ever the reason, they only had T. Knipp on him half the time. He was an extremely strong player, and had almost no contention when it came down to getting it the in post. It was almost automatic. Still, a ten point loss to the number 7 team in the nation? i think thats a pretty possitive showing. They were so hot coming into the game, shooting something like 60% from the floor, something had to give. Its hard to score 105 pts a game each and ever night. I'm proud of how those boys played...Congrats Lions!

3-1 in the Beachball Classic against that kind of competition is very impressive.

You made Kentucky Proud. Go Lions ! ! ! ! !

Great showing for Elliott at the BBC. Winning the Consolation Bracket is no small feat. Of the 16 teams in this tournament. 1 team finished 4-0. 4 teams finished 3-1. Elliott's record was on par with with all but the champion. Two of their wins came against teams ranked #1 in their respective states/provinces, the other came against the 21st ranked team in South Carolina. Their loss came on a horrible shooting night against very good Cedar Hill, TX. team. I'm tickled to death for these boys, even though I'm sure they are dissappointed in the loss...

Well if they are someone better tell WYMT. Here is the link to the WYMT Mountain Top 10.

Not that it really matters but what most people consider the "Mountains" is the WYMT coverage area. That does not include Elliott County or anybody in the 16th region.

If Elliott is in the mountians then how come they are not mention in the umpteen million excluse mountian threads that are on here?

Your right FBALL it really doesn't matter but they go represent KY extremly well then all of a sudden they are a mountian team.  Smile

Anyway congrats to Elliott for winning the game against Southside.

Quite an accomplishment by Elliott Co. Great job guys. The teams they beat were all quality teams and the one they lost to was also. IF they wouldn't have had an uncharacteristic bad shooting night they would have probably won their first game.

I doubt they would have won the whole thing because every team they beat lost their first game, but winning the consolation bracket is outstanding.

Be proud you represented KY very well in one of the top holiday tournaments across the nation.

Another great victory for Elliot County, congrats!

Even if they did, generally the 16th region is not in the WYMT coverage area and not considered to be part of the "mountains" by most.

i see your point but they are more mountains in Elliott than say Laurel County its there viewing area i understand a true mountain top ten should include Elliott Co i am not from there just making conversation but anything east of Winchester is a mountain team to me

I might not include Winchester.....But, anything east of Mt. Sterling is EASTERN KY!!!!!!!!!!! From what I've seen on here, the 14th and 15th region fans claim the occasional 16th region team (when and if it is convienent for them) if it is something they don't like..............Well in that case the 16th Region isn't "mountains." I really don't care either way.............But either include the 16th, or write them off.................There is no in-between!
#25
Guys, is it honestly this big of a deal?

The "Mountains" term was decided by WYMT-TV. Which is apart of their coverage area which goes as far west as Pulaski County, as far north as Lawrence County.

All 13th, 14th and 15th region teams are mountain teams along with a select few 12th region teams like Rockcastle, Somerset, Southwestern, etc.

Not really...........But picking and choosing as to how it fits an agenda? It is a pretty simple equation..........The 16th is in, or its out......There isn't an in-between.

Yeah that's true, but it is all a matter of opinion. In my opinion they are not a mountain team. Just like others may see it a different way. Either way it isn't a big deal.

I agree, and........As a fan and resident of Elliott Co. , there aren't any "true" mountains here. I guess it's all based really on perception. I think Eastern KY. as a whole is always lumped together as being ignorant, inbred, welfare abusing, pill abusing, not fit for nothing people. Anytime National Media or public perception comes into play this is how we as a whole are percieved. We are stuck together by everyone portraying us negatively, and yet we still want to put up boundaries and nit pick............
