New Coach at Jenkins
#1
Chris Tolliver is the new coach at Jenkins. He graduated from Whitesburg in 2002.
#2
Is he any good?
#3
That will be shown in his first game as coach. That will be in nicholas county. We'll have to wait and see.
#4
He's young, first job. Is it true that Jenkins offered the job to Don Carroll? He's an official and not sure if he ever coached either.
#5
Good luck to Chris and the Lady Cavs! He is a fine young man with coaching experience at Rowan County. Good catch!
#6
Jenkins couldn't have hired a better guy to turn around that program.......I've known Chris all my life and I can tell you one thing there's not a better hearted, hard working guy in the world. He was great to watch on the court for whitesburg, a scrapper that had a pure love for the game. Good Luck "Coach Tolliver"!!!!!!!
#7
I think coach tolliver will do a great job
#8
hope he can turn that team back around
#9
Good Luck to coach tolliver and the lady cavs !!!!!!
#10
yea well... I dont think he is doing to hot of a job they have one like 1 or 2 games they won more when Mr.Bentley was there. He needs to come back.
#11
Not sure what is going on but the new coach was or had to be escorted from the gym after verbally abusing officials. That type of conduct cannot be embeded in sports. I am not sure, but I think the school system needs to look at another direction for a coach. Not sure if he is even employed by the district other than coaching. We will see what will happen in the days to come.
#12
I was at the game. He was protesting a call very mildly and was T twice in less than 10 seconds. He did not use inappropriate language. He was not escorted off the floor by anyone. His own fans cheered him after he came out of the lockeroom before the varsity game. No further action should be taken by anyone except by the 14th region assigning secretary to the ref who threw a varsity coach out in a JV game.

Can you explain what he did to warrant an ejection?

Explain why a varsity coach is coaching a JV team?

Sounds to me like he is trying to build a program if he is taking the time to coach the j.v. players. He was hired late, I'm sure they are still learning his system. Personally, I think it shows that he is a hard worker and wants to WIN not only now but in the future at Jenkins.

Would you rather him sit in the bleachers and eat hot dogs during the j.v. games, and then sit on his hands and not say anything at all during the varsity game? As if he doesn't care???

Coach Bentley also coached the JV.

chris tolliver is a great man I played ball with his brother adam at g-town and went to a camp that he helped coach at henry clay highschool a couple years ago.

when mr. bentley was there they only won like three games counting the district win. coach tolliver is doing a great job, even other coaches say so. they are the most improved team because of the help from coach tolliver.
and no mr. bentley doesn't need to come back! coach tolliver is going to send the lady cavs to state.

You don't think he is doing too hott of a job???

Thats just what you think.
You don't know him.
You haven't have seen him poor his heart and soul out to help the Lady Cavaliers.
I think he is doing a terrific job with this team.
Look at how much they have improved.
You being a "raw raw" wouldn't be able to see that while standing on the sidelines.
The definition of a winner is the team who works the hardest.
These girls work their butts off, all because of a wonderful coach like Chris Tolliver to help lead and encourage them through out every game.
He has dedicated all of his time to coach the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers and I among many others think he is doing one heck of a job.

I don't know about that. I was in pretty close to the team. And I just didn't see that.

sherman. don't start your crap with m o here. i'm pretty sure i was quit a bit of waaaaaay closer to the team than you were bub.

i'm trying my best not to say anything too rude......
so don't give me any reason to!

all I know is they need to get back to the glory days when the lady cavs won games, and the 53rd district had teams all the time in the regional finals. Trust me I know too much the history of the lady cavs. My sister played on the team back in the 90's.

Those glory days will be coming back starting next season.

ok sherman maggard!
if you are going to have that kind of attitude toward the program.
then go ahead and "walk away" like you say you are going to and stop your complaining.
oh my gosh, you are really starting to bug me.
If you were a "real" lady cavs fan....then you would have a little bit more faith in the team.
not only you,....but that goes to anyone else who doesn't think so either.
Like i said ole' herm.... If you are going to say all of this crap, don't bother to come to another game. :devilflam
#26
Ouch!! Everybody take a deep breath and relax. The lady Cav's got some work ahead and need all the support you got. The team sticks together and the fans stick together.
#27
that is a hard statement to say. It is going to take time, but I think JHS will get better, I just don't think it will be next year.
