The UK football 2009 schedule.
#1
The Cats added another game to the schedule today with Louisiana-Monroe. As it stands now, they need one more game to fill up the list and at best, the Cats will play 11 straight weeks without an off date. Get those legs under you Cats…..
9/5 — OPEN
9/12 — OPEN
9/19 - LOUISVILLE (home)
9/26 - FLORIDA (home)
10/3 - ALABAMA (home)
10/10 - at South Carolina (away)
10/17 - at Auburn (away)
10/24 - UL-MONROE (home)
10/31 - MISS. STATE (home)
11/7 - EASTERN KENTUCKY (home)
11/14 - at Vanderbilt (away)
11/21 - at Georgia (away)
11/28 - TENNESSEE (home)

Pretty tough schedule IMO. Louisville, then FLorida then Alabama will a tough 3 games to start the season. Alot of home games though.

I don't like having the non-conference games later in the season. Doesn't really give the players (specially the Freshmen -- possibly a starting QB) much time to get adjusted from fall practice. But then again it could make them work harder in practice because they know they will be put to the dogs from the first game. But the possible defending champions in game 2

But will be nice to get to see some good SEC teams at Commonwealth while it is still warm outside.

I dont like it that the first two weeks of the season are open, playing 11 straight weeks is going to be tough...just hope were not having injury problems like we did this season because there will be no time to heal

Well, it could always be worse, but they'll get better as time goes on I hope.

The first two weeks won't stay open, UK still has to add one more game, which will go into either week 1 or 2 (preferably week 2). They will, however, still have to play 11 straight weeks.

The Florida game will actually be UK's third contest once the 12th game is added, either onto week 1 or 2.

One other observation, it looks like the NCAA shortened the season by one week this year. As in, schools only have 14 weeks to get in 12 games, instead of the 15 they had this year. And if your school is in the SEC, ACC, or Big 12, the last of those 14 weeks has to be kept open for the conference championship game, leaving just 13 weeks left over.

End result = UK, and the rest of the SEC, only get one open date this year.

I imagine this is one reason they have some of the "easier" games later in the season. Heal up time for players before SEC play resumes.

looks like a hard season for the cats. but they can handle it

Looks like there will only be 3 gimmie games next year assuming the one open game will be...............If we're bowl eligable next year then we should have no doubters.

barnhart is an idiot for doing this. it seems like he wants brooks outta there. we need a new AD. He is running down all of our programs.
#16
They should probally add abother "Cupcake" team too the schedule early in the year.
