Breathitt is a good well balanced football team with keys players on both sides of the ball. They play hard all 4 quarters and are an aggressive bunch of hard hitters. They have my up-most repsect and wish them the best of luck at state. I would like for them to bring the trophy back to the moutians but it will be tough to do that against a really good Central team who has some D-1 caliber players like I read in an eariler post. I've not made my decision but im actually leaning toward Breathitt in this one. I'll post my score later on.

Does anybody know the score of last years game? How bad did Belfry get beat?

Many of you guys on here are posting comments that come from your heart rather than your head. I can understand allegiance to an area (The mountains) or to a school (Breathitt County), but let's be honest BC is not on Central's level. Central played three teams that made it to their respective class semifinals game last week (Male, St. Xavier, Fort Thomas Highlands) and beat one (Male). Central played one team that is playing for state championships this weekend (Fort Thomas Highlands) from a higher class and definitely belonged on the field even though Central's performance that weekend was subpar in some areas. How are BC fans elated that Belfry was beaten as if that was a major upset? Do you forget that Belfry is not the defending state champion and Central beat them (a better Belfry team) last year and BC sqeaked out a victory this year when Belfry repeatedly tried to hand you the game? Simple logic would say Central is the favorite and Breathitt County should put their seatbelts on because this is going to be bumpy ride!:redboxer::Wave:

How can you say that huh? are Mrs. Cleo there genius. See this is what I dont get your goin to start dissing another team because they dont play St. X or Highlands. Who cares???? if you knew anything about football instead of just blowin smoke you would know that this is going to be one heck of a ball game. Yeah sure Central has got the speed on Breathitt but i gurantee you they cant handle being hit like all them big city teams because they arent used to the smashmouth defense the Coach Chapman has prepared, We got pride, We are never afriad, because WE ARE BREATHITT!!!!!

People said the same thing about the belfry game, and look what happened to them, they got socked in the mouth and lost the game. Breathitt will come out and hit centrals players like they have never been hit before. I look for Centrals players to bend over and take it, and not come back for seconds.

I totally agree with what you are saying. Breathitt is very capable of winning this game and like Belfry go out thinking they are going to win every game. I have a great deal of respect for Breathitt County and enjoyed it when they were in our district. That was a very good district with Belfry, Breathitt County, Clay County, Leslie County and Knott County (Knott County struggled). Central is a team that will kill you if you turn the ball over. Their speed was amazing last year and I doubt that they have changed much. I also agree with others that Breathitt County is a solid TEAM and not a one man show. Most one man shows fall short before the prize. It takes a solid team to be in the position that Breathitt and Central are currently sharing. Breathitt County and Belfry have built a huge rival out of this great history of very interesting and fun football to be a part of. I truly do wish Breathitt County the best of luck and hope that they are able to build on their history of being Champions this weekend; therefore, making my prediction of this game wrong. I might even wear some blue to work on Friday; however, I better stick to my red. Good Luck Breathitt !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Breathitt is a good team but I don't believe they will be prepared for Cental's defense. I am not even getting into the offense of Central with this post. Ask some of the runners they have faced this year if Central's "D" is the truth. Breathitt is one deminsional and that will hurt them in this game. BC is the "Mountain Champ" and that is where it ends. If BC is 2 points better than Belfry, they are not good enough to beat Central. Ask Male.

I am saying that Belfry played a poor game and were still in position to win the game until the last fumble.

Breathitt is not one deminsonal. Yes we are more run oriented, but we have an excellent passing game, that central is going to have to watch out for. If central thinks that stopping channing wins the game then they are wrong. Go ahead and key in on channing, we will just pass it on you for the 6 instead.

Pulling for Breathitt

Oh Central has a pass rush too! Ask Elizabethtown about it. They saw it twice!

Central won the game 27-17. That is with 5 turnovers. Their defense showed up big after all the sudden change situations. Most teams would have crumbled like Drakes coffee cake if they gave the 2007 Belfry team 5 extra possessions in a single game.
12-10-2008, 12:04 PM
they may have the pass rush but they are focusing on run because they think that is all breathitt can do. i cant wait to go watch channing run all over them when they think they will stop him like belfry did. can i ask wat is the fastest 40 time on centrals D. i hope its better than 4.6
12-10-2008, 12:29 PM
I'm looking forward to this game. Its going to be a good one. Just like the Belfrey game. I predict Breathitt by a TD. Go Cats.
12-10-2008, 12:47 PM
The slowest 40 time on Centrals D is probably in the lower 5. 's. DE Tennyson is very quick. Cobble is not as fast as he is quick and strong. He isn't going to run someone down from 20 yards but he will catch you from about 5. Other end is a converted LB. Wilson is D1 at UK next year(linebacker). Patterson had 20 tackles in last years championship game against Belfry. He is highly touted as a MLB. Lancaster is one of their safety's, played LB last year(starter). They are fast, maybe not as fast as 6, but they are very quick. Former U of L, Vikings and Chiefs player Terry Rice-Locket has done a great job with the D.

I do not know about specific times but I would say that everyone in their secondary is faster than 4.6. I would also say that all of the 5 different linebackers that they play run faster or close to 4.6...Tim Patterson is the biggest 6'5 - 225 lbs and he covers sideline to sideline. They all pass the eyeball test. I would imagine some of their success comes from intimidating the other team when they get off the bus.

Bored so I did some research. Central had a game cancelled because of the windstorm but in the 13 games that they have played they are giving up 86 ypg rushing. In the playoffs that drops to 60 ypg. 6 times they have allowed less than 50 yards rushing. Despite the perception that their secondary is a weakness they only give up 92 ypg passing. In the playoffs their giving up 105 ypg. They have 2 players with over 17 Sacks a piece in Tennyson and Cobble. They have 7 interception in their 4 playoff games.
In 3A football they have faced Devin Foster from Union County who averages 172 ypg Rushing and held him to 87 yards.
In 3A football they have faced some of the top passers and here is what they did against them
Micheal Thomas, E-town 294 ypg passing Central held him to 114 and 229 in the 2 games they played.
Luke Magness, Henry County 194 ypg passing. Central held him to 53
Jordan Robison, Union County 137 ypg passing. Central gave up 97
They shut down the top receivers they saw in 3A also. Granted Gohman was hurt the second game but here is what they did versus 2 of the best they faced
Chris Gohman E-Town 150 ypg receiving. Central held him to 66 yards and no scores
Trevor Deneen E-town 73 ypg receiving. In two games he had 17 and 46 yards and no scores.
To think that Fugate is going to be able to overcome that type of Swarm maybe wishful thinking. Some stats on the Bobcats still to come
12-10-2008, 03:30 PM
I think this game will get out of hand in the first half with Central being up by two or more touchdowns. But, Breathitt coming back to win it late with a run by Fugate.
12-10-2008, 04:08 PM
I know that we can do it if we really go into the game with our 100% AAA game!!!!! WOOO GO BREATHITT!!!!!!

Central fan. I don't think that you are. You wouldn't pick the Jackets to lose. That would be like me going under the name Bobcat fan and picking Central. I am a Central supporter and I do believe that they will win. For what its worth: Central was supposed to play Bullitt East but the game was cancelled due to the wind storm that went through Louisville. Don't talk bad about the Jackets until you beat them. They ARE THE DEFENDING STATE CHAMPIONS. As Rick Flair used to say "to be the man you have to beat the man." Right now Central is the man. Pretty much the same team that beat undefeated Belfry last year, that should of taken the lead over Saint X this year. Central is no slouch. They will be ready and I am sure that Breathitt will be ready. Hope it is a great game but I still want the yellow and black to take it.

i'm afraid to say that Central is in a league of thier own in 3A on speed. Breathitt has not faced a team that will be as quick as LC. The fastest 40 on that team is probably in 4.3 area, maybe high 4.2's.. just fyi, thats David Jones quick. Everyone in Central's secondary is most likely better than 4.6.. Like I said, its like they have a whole team of David Jones, the speed is astounding. I don't want to sound like i'm rooting for LC, but tell you all from Breathitt what you will be up against.
