Even with the football team out Hazard still has some strong players off the bench. I watched a few scrimmages they had this month and they played a pretty good game.

With no Michael Campbell and Perry Central playing at home the Dores win by three to five points. Sure is a great coaching matchup betwen Holland of Hazard and Hatcher at Perry Central. Good luck to both teams Cool

Heard a rumor that this will be the last time they meet in the regular season due to the rivalry getting to heated. Is this true?

Hazard has taken a forfeit on this game and the teams will not play due to the number of Hazard basketball players who also play football and will be preparing for the IA state champion football game Friday morning.

I gotta go with the Dores in this one. Without the football players for Hazard playing, it will be tough for them to win. The Amis brothers will be to much for them as will Chris Noble.

why did they play buckhorn without the football players..because they knew the could win but they knew theyd get beat this time this is nothing but an excuse..WEAK!

I don't understand, they had a full bench of players during the buckhorn game. I seen it on tv during a fight...... anyone get suspended?

not sure if they are scared, I know they would be limited with players. Underclassmen could have filled roster spots, give them some experience and take the L, don't forfeit.

Correct me if I'm wrong but....didn't Hazard or PCC one pass a policy saying that the two schools would not play each other unless they had to in a district or regional tourny due to excessive rivalry?

It's my understanding that all basketball games both boys and girls have been cancelled for the rest of this week at Hazard to allow everybody to get ready for the trip to Louisville on Thursday.

Why would PCC not like this idea? It wouldn't mean a thing if they beat Hazard without their full team. It would only mean something if they beat them at their best.

It is my understanding that all the teams on both our girl's and boy's schedules for the week prior to the 1A football championship were contacted and readily agreed to reschedule, or if necessary cancel the games, except PCC who flatly refused to do so. This forced us to forfeit the game which will result in our paying a sizeable fine. We have appealed this to the KHSAA and are awaiting their decision as to paying a fine or forcing a reschedule. We most definitely are not afraid of playing PCC, but feel at this time all our concentration should be on football since it is such a big honor to our program to be playing for the championship. Also, we have several injured players on our boy's basketball team, plus several that play football would, of course, not be available for basketball, so our team would be comprised of 8th graders with a few JV and two seniors and one junior. This simply is not acceptable and would place the players who are at full speed under additional pressure to perform. Thus, we sought to reschedule this game.

In my mind, PCC saw this as an opportunity to beat up on Hazard. Wait until both teams are at full strength and see how eager PCC wants to play.

well we hae scrimmaged pcc this year and they look tough. idk though hazard is a real good team. I'm saying hazard by 8.

I'm sure Hazard knew that with their depleted roster chances were good they'd lose this one, and PCC is just hungry for a win against Hazard any way they can get it. If there were just one or even two players out you could call it a legitimate win, but I know there are at least four key players out. I would have a hard time celebrating a victory like that. I'd rather wait and play the REAL Hazard at full strength. Some are saying it was cowardly for Hazard to cancel or postpone or whatever you want to call it, but I think it's a little cowardly for PCC to not reschedule and play against the REAL Hazard team every game. Who doesn't expect PCC's full strength varsity to beat a depleted team playing with inexperienced players, many not even in high school yet. So my challenge is to PCC. Prove that you're not just looking for any kind of win you can get against Hazard and reschedule.

everyone knows pcc would still wanna play hazard if they had there full team theyd be even more eager

Then why not reschedule with Hazard? PCC knows the situation. It isn't like Hazard didn't want to reschedule. However, I think these two teams will meet 3 times this season from here on out.
