Letcher Central over Phelps by 24, Wow

I thought Phelps was one of the better teams in that region. If this is any indication of how well Letcher is playing, there are a lot of teams in the 14th that are in trouble. I believe the only team that can play with them is Breathitt.

khsaa.org has the score as 79 - 55...Is this incorrect?

Don't get me wrong, this is a significant margin, but it is not as bad as 44.

phelps is badly over hyped...they have alot of talent but from what i have seen dont play as a team but if they would they would be really good maybe as good as ppl try saying

i think it was a mixture of phelps commnig in to confident and letcher being a good team.

to many turnovers for phelps early in the game, and letcher was on fire from 3 point land.

both are good teams but only one came to play hard and that was letcher.

Phelps had several seniors on last years team. Not a whole lot of "players" after they left the floor. They have a GREAT coach in Vanhoose but he is going to have to rebuild in Phelps.

Starting out your season and playing a good solid team like Letcher is what prepares you for Feb. and March. This was a good team that the Lady Hornets started their season with. I mean they hadn't played together but over the summer a little bit and one scrimmage before. It was obvious they didn't have a very good game with two of the starters in foul trouble all night. Lets face it they weren't prepared but you don't base a team on their first game against a team like this. I don't give hope on them yet and things will only get better as the season goes on, does anyone remember when PCC went to state they lost 11 regular season games? Don't scratch off the Lady Hornets yet!

Good luck to both teams! The 14th is going to have some trouble out of Letcher this year!

LCC is really good this year! But Phelps being in the Mountain Top 10 is a joke! LCC wasn't even in it! Yeah Phelps has some girls who look like they can play, but you'd be surprised! I was surprised with Vanhoose, I thought he would be a better coach then that. But he just seemed to be one of those guys who didn't get a boys job and thinks they're too good to coach girls! A good coach could help Phelps out, but they are way overrated! Don't take anything away from LCC, they are one of the top 2 in the 14th!

uhh, no.
Vanhoose is a great coach && is doing a wayyyy better job than any other coach could do.
he has brought phelps a long way.

Nope didn’t want the Paintsville job because I am happy where I am. I didn’t even apply for it, believe it or not I do like coaching girls! As far as not standing up coaching, I don’t get that animated anyway and why do I need to stand when I can sit and say the same thing? Besides when I sit down I am almost taller than some people anyway so it could be considered standing. Also, I didn’t fall asleep that would be very unprofessional and I think more people would have picked up on that. I mean, a guy my size just can’t fall asleep without people noticing. Was I tired? Yes, my wife had surgery in Cincinnati early that morning and I drove to the game from the hospital so I was a little tired, but I didn’t fall asleep. Is there anything else that I can clear up for you?

ehhhhh, thats a bold statement looking at the 15th overall in even recent history. Mark Gannon, Tammy Tussey, Cindy, Wiremann. All IMO were and are jsut as good if not better with in their first couple of years. But JR is doing a fine job and will be considered one of the best all time IMO. Heck the guy won Coach of the Year his first season lol. He is the Best IMO that Phelps has ever seen.

People from Phelps (or Phelps supporters) amaze me. You are the very ones that get on here stating that this is just a game and that everyone needs to lighten up. I get on here, try to lighten things up (obviously JR was upset at things that were said about him) and then you want to get on here and talk about statements being stupid and telling people to shut up. Your probably a little to young to remember Ron Preece...I would have to give him the nod on best coach (girls).
