Scott Co. 76 Logan, WV 61. Preseason scrimmage at Sheldon Clark.

On the radio it sounded like SC didn't play very well the second half. SC was also playing without Phares who is sick. I understand Logan was also playing without their point guard. The Ballard-Scott Co game could be a good test for both teams.

Was very un- impressed by Scott Co....... Logan even beat them in the 2nd half.. I'm sure they will improve, but they have a loooooooooooonnnggg way to go from what they showed today.. Also, and I'm not bashing, but Euton should have stayed at Rose Hill. There is enough talent around him at Scott Co. that his lack of coordination and unorthadox style really shows.......

I just don't see Euton as a major D1 prospect. The only thing he can do is shoot.
I'd much rather have Phares over Euton anyday.

Phares no doubt is a better low post player... As for Euton's outside shooting..........I've watched him 7 times and have never seen him do anything above ordinary! He will be a practice player at best at UK....If he gets minutes............Billy G will be gone.......This kid in no way can play in the SEC.

I agree at one time I thought he would be able to do it all.

Yeah, I think when Gillispie offered Euton he seen a lot of potential, but he hasn't gotten any better since the day UK offered.

Having watched every game I thought that Chad Jackson was the best player on the floor all day and maybe Coach G. ought to take him instead of Euton.

Jackson is a very talented kid... Just seems that he doesn't play with the intensity that he should.. I thought the last 2 years he was the best player on the Rose Hill teams...

I wasn't at the scrimmage last night but Euton's stat line looked pretty good.
19 points on 8/18 from the field and 3/7 from 3 pt line. He was the leading rebounder in the game with 12. From stats alone it appears he had a pretty good night.
In the scrimmage against Male Euton had 16 points on 6/10 from the field and 4/6 from the 3 pt line. Over both scrimmages he is 14/28 from the field (50%) and 7/13 (54%) from the 3 point line. I don't understand the internet bashing.

No surprise Cuppett. Scott County is a great program. Remember Logan has only been opracticing for about 10 days. With Logan's difficult schedule they will probably have some losses. But the only thing that matters to Wildcats fans is a trip to the state tourney. Logan could have played an easier opponent and won , but Coach Hatcher wants to play the best. Scrimmaging Scott County will help them down the road.

I agree with what has been said above... From what I saw last night, Euton would be better off playing at EKU or Georgetown College than he ever would at UK. I didn't see anything impressive out of him myself.
Scott County would be twice the team they showed last night if they would have kept #14 on the bench... I bet his arm was sore today he shot it so much!
IMO, if Logan had a good point guard they would have handled Scott Co. easily.
Elliot Co was the game to watch! Those boys are for real!
Hood looked good, but he is ALL Madisonville has and Elliot poured the D on him and contained him very well.

I use to live in Logan and someone told me that Logan's point guard didn't play. Could someone tell me how Logan looked ? Remeber that was there first scrimmage so please put that in account.
11-30-2008, 11:38 AM
Its true the point guard did not play due to a broken collar bone but a sophomore Paul Herbert Williamson had 29 points ( five three - pointers) and senior Brett Sorrell had 24 ( six three - pointers). Scott County was without Phares and Guyn shot way too much but Logan shot the ball well in the second half and they should be fine in 08 -09.

Thanks Jed. The injury to O'Bryant is a big one because he is the quarterback that runs the offense.
11-30-2008, 03:32 PM
euton did not impress me much at all. he was sloppy....he can't play d-1.....as for logan they are gonna be tuff....they had a big kid who was the real deal he was twice the player euton was...and if they shoot like that they will blow teams out..

I did not keep stats, but it sure seemed that Euton missed more than four shots from the field. I remember three misses from under the goal and a blocked shot by the big kid from Logan. That is four shorts plus two missed from three equals six missed shots and I am sure that there were more. I also beleive he missed more than two threes. He also appeared very slow. I hope it is due to the fact that it is early in the season and he is not in playing shape. Very disappointed with what I saw and that there is improvement. I also did not like the way that he conducted himself after having his shot blocked. Bumping the opponent going down the floor, running his mouth to the player and then later the foul that he committed on the kid. Hope I am wrong.

8 for 18 would be 10 misses. Also, 3 of 7 on three pointers is 4 misses.

Regardless of stats, as I said earlier he should have stayed at RH... He looked like a duck waddling amongst swans playing with the the athletes that Scott Co. has.. Bottom line, if he hadn't been way taller than his class early on, he would be lucky to have any scholly offers..... He will never contribute anything to UK.....

I am glad to hear that Logan's center played good . Last year he struggled at times. He needs to be more physical. As a sophomore he had 22 double doubles

As are unatheletic, slow - footed kids and D1 benches........ See, I can do it too!

You said he had 19 points on 8 for 18 from field and 3 of 7 from three. The 3 of 7 must be included in the 8 of 18 or e would have had 27 (8X2 + 3X3). Regardless of stats.......NOT IMPRESSED.

3pt shooting is generally included in a players overall shooting stats.

You guys can say what you want about Euton but he played a good game. He was knocked around all night and still would step out and hit a three, run the floor, get rebounds and made some nice passes. Jackson in my opinion was great. He can just about do it all and it looks like he is playing in slow motion.
I will say that I love Elliot County and I hope they go very far but I dont know if they can beat Scott Co. Scott Co has to many weapons.

Mike Fields is a smart man. I never really knew what "nattering nabobs of negativism" was until reading some of the posts on this thread.
