Correct me if I'm wrong LC is 0-9 this year and last time JC played them was 2 years ago. And the score was around 48-8. Lol

But back on topic here: Congratulations to JC and all of their Rushing Success!!! May it continue into the playoffs!!!

I'm a Cov. Catholic fan, you happen to know the score of that state semi game a few years ago??? :moon:

Yeah it was 48-24 Cov Cath with Jc up at the half. You sure do have a difficult time keeping your teams straight. you obviously are just trying to make JC look bad. At any rate, if JC were to play LC, Cov Cath, and any other of your so called "teams" it would be Johnson Central by a bunch. I love the fact that people can't stand that JC has finally established a program worth of respect and they simply refuse the accept that.

Hey, how'd CCH do against Highlands this year? I didn't quite happen to catch the score to that game, how'd it go? You guys beat down the Birds this year?

And overrated? 3 consecutive District Champs in a District with Ashland, Woodford County, Bryan Station, and Montgomery County. Along with 2 back to back appearances in the Regional Finals game, one of which we have won. along with the most difficult schedule in school history with everyone on the schedule being the top ranked team in their district, with the exception to the Canadian team who were the top team in Canada (back to back Natl. Champs).
And yet I notice you have not posted your team, who is most likely 0-11 and making it into the playoffs. Why don't you try again next year.
You keep bragging about being district champs, but I would not call you district a tough district. Your regional winners do not do well in the third round of playoffs. And difficult schedule? You played two 1A teams {weak and why play them?}, one 6A team that is terrible, two 3A teams (one bad and one good), and just average district play. You have played good with the above schedule, but you can't start talking like you are better than proven teams until you play and beat better teams. You will be the underdog until then. You may do that, but you have not yet. I think it is great that JC has so much spirit this year and the team needs to think they are world beaters and can take down anybody in their path, but, you still are not top dog until you take the top dog down. good luck this week and in the playoffs. The first week in the playoffs should be over in the first half, Holmes is not a good team (They lack the dedication it takes to win, all though they have a coach now that is trying to instill that). A possible second round match up with Dixie is the same (would be surprised if dixie wins round one).

All we can do is beat the next team we play.
Yes, we'd love to win the 5A state title. But we know we won't be allowed to do that when we always have to play a Cincinnati All-Star Team every year at some point.
Our goal is to be the best team we can be, and to be the best team in the mountains. If by some amazing miracle, we can beat HHS or CCH or Bowling Green or whomever to win a championship, believe me, there will be a party like you've never seen in Johnson County. But we'll be happy to acquit ourselves well against the powers that cross district lines to win state championships. Yes we can. We don't really care about Highlands right now, as much as you wish we would. Right now, we're worried about Belfry. We'll worry about you when we get to you.

While I agree with a lot of your post and have great respect for JC's team and program, you have to get over the bolded part if you are referring to the Highlands program. It's not true. I can think of two players in all the years I've followed Highlands that were from Cincinnati. Two. That's all. One stayed only his frosh and sophomore years. The other stayed all four and was a decent, not great player.
Furthermore, the oft repeated myth that we attract stud players from throughout N. Ky is way over blown. Yes we have attracted some really good players in certain years. Then again JC has attracted some players from other areas of Ky also. If you want to deny that, I can dig up the number of transfers into JC over the last 5 years if forced to.
Finally, on this year's Highlands team, I can think of only a couple of players that didn't grow up in Ft. Thomas that are making a significant contribution. Guidugli the qb is a Ft. Thomas kid. The Running backs of Crawford, Head and Fennell are all Ft. Thomas kids. Dempsey, Schlosser, Bardgett and Grubbs (O linemen) are all Ft. Thomas kids (honestly don't know about the center Combs. He didn't play football at all until his frosh year, which is why I don't know for sure. Most of the other kids I am familiar with due to involvement in the Junior Football League). Roller the TE is a Ft. Thomas kid. Receivers Collinsworth, Buten, Horner, and Hogue are Ft. Thomas kids. On D, Rosenhagen, Welz, Frank, Dierig and Beck (D linemen) are Ft. Thomas kids. We do have a junior D linemen that gets some playing time and who moved from Indianapolis, but I serously doubt our football program had much of anything with his family's move to town. Linebackers of Roller, Newman, Martin and Laber are Ft. Thomas kids. Alford is originally from Newport. All the dbs are Ft. Thomas kids. Our stud running back, Conner is from Newport, but in light of the fact he's been out almost the entire season with a broken leg, he hasn't really made any meaningful contribution this year.
Bottom line: if it works out that Highlands beats JC this year, please don't use the excuse that Highlands has a Cincinnati all star team or even a N. Ky all star team, because its just not true. I thought Matney's comments about losing to CovCath a couple of years ago came across as whiney and beneath a great football coach. If anything, because of the loss of many very talented Ft. Thomas kids who are Catholic to NewCath, Highlands in most years loses many more quality athletes than we receive, which is a fact lost on many people critical of Highlands success.
Good luck to JC this week against Belfry. If it turns out that Highlands plays JC in several weeks, I'm sure it will be a great game. I've seen JC play this year and believe they are very, very good.

Collinsworth. Is that Chris's son? If so, when did he move the Ft. Thomas area, thought Collinsworth is a Cincinnati resident.

OutsideLogic Wrote:Collinsworth. Is that Chris's son? If so, when did he move the Ft. Thomas area, thought Collinsworth is a Cincinnati resident.
Yes it is Cris' son. Cris has lived in Ft. Thomas since before he got married to Holly Bankemper. Holly grew up in town and attended Highlands. She was, as many males remember, a UK cheerleader. Cris may have lived in Cinti some as a bachelor, but even before they got married, I believe he lived in a condo in Ft. Thomas. If Cris' son is considered one of the "Cinti all stars", someone is really, and I mean really, stretching that definition. Austin has attended the Ft. Thomas school district since kindergarten and, again, as mentioned his Mom grew up in town and attended Highlands.
Holly's brother John was a stud running back for Highlands in the 80's. I think he led the state in rushing and/or scoring his senior year. John has a son, Spencer, who is like Austin, a very good athlete. Spencer's problem is that he is the most injury and accident prone kid that seemingly has ever walked the face of the earth. Everything from getting his teeth knocked out in a biking accident, messing up his shoulder, to stepping on a broken bottle (which ended up requiring surgery when it was discovered later that all the glass was not removed by the doctor). The kid has just been snake bitten. Hopefully that is all behind him now.
By the way, I think its really cool that JC is getting national attention for its rushing success. Great job!

Moderators should not be using threatening language. They are not suppose to keep trouble stirred up they are suppose to be peace makers. On a lot of boards including this one there are a few Rouge moderators who get arguments started then if someone defends themselves they get threatned. Not complaining just making an observation.

And if you know anything about Ft Thomas, you would know that we get teased all the time about living in a bubble because not many people leave this town. You should see how many second, third and fourth generations are on this and every team. I agree with you on this one! Highlands I'm sure has their hands full competing with the private schools in NKY, so I'm sure getting some great players from outside the district would be a great score....when it happens? lol
As for the so-called Cincy All-Star team, I think they all live in Cincy! The NKY teams on any level don't fare too well when they cross the river and play the Cincy teams.
The JC fans need to quit whining and if they are good enough this year, beat out the NKY teams!! That is how you prove your worth! Can they do it? We'll have to wait and see, but they will have to play one great game to do so! I don't personally think that JC can beat Highlands, but I've been wrong before......
