Sounded like a great game, but Russell falls just short. Great effort by both teams.

Rams play smash mouth football and run for over 300 yards against the Devils.

Sounded like a good game the whole way through...congrats to Raceland, and keep your heads up Russell.

Good win Raceland and Russell should not hang there heads low for this close these close games will only help them get better.

Good job Rams!! That was a great game for both teams. Devils keep your heads up boys!

I can not figure why they took Storm out when we had to settle for the fg?Should have ran that boy over top of them. He came out fired up! & he was told to come out ????Worse thing you can do to a back when hes ready. The boys looked much better tonight! Good Job! Much improved!

Congrats Rams!! Little better effort from the Red Devils than I expected, but Raceland still gets the win! Good luck to both in the playoffs!

Congratulations to Raceland on a very well deserved victory. This game could have gone either way. Russell played the best game they have all year against a very good raceland team. Russell had the opportunities to win the game. Russell needs to keep their heads up high. They played their hearts out tonight. Thanks for a great and entertaining night.

I was miffed at some of the play calling. I would have loved to see Storm get the ball on a quick trap up the middle.

What now Devils?..... Good game Rams!!!! Good luck to both teams in the playoffs...

Russell played their best game of the year. It's just that Raceland is the better team this year. They have a strong line and 2 good running backs. I get the feeling this game was won in the weight room this summer. A lineman like Logan doesn't come along too often. From looking at him out there, I thought T.J. Maynard had suited up for a second! :-)
This was a COMPLETELY different Russell team than I have seen at any point this year, though. Every Russell fan, player, and coach should be proud of their effort tonight. The offensive and defensive lines were solid. The personnel changes on defense helped. Stapleton, Rice, and Smith were great. Storm Burgess in the backfield helped. Jason Dolly is an outstanding punter. Abrams was simply phenomenal. Cordle played well. The sidelines were into the game and even chanting. If Russell had played with this kind of spirit from game 1 this year, this season would have been different and we wouldn't have been going to Belfry in round 2. If they play like this in the playoffs, though, they will definitely compete against anyone.
I'm proud of this Russell team.

Its just too bad that Raceland's fans don't have as much respect for others as the Raceland team and coaching staff do.
Enjoy it while you can.

While this was easily the most energized game they have played Russell hardly played great. To many arm tackles on Denton. The kid is a beast. You have to go low and wrap up.
On offense too many negative plays for Russell. While they did do some really good things there were some mistakes that cost Russell points and field position. I too don't know why they didn't go back to the power I a little bit more. The offense had a good flow to it at times but sputtered at other times. I do think they missed Bailey out there. It would have been nice to have had him available.
All in all this was a really entertaining game between two pretty good teams. Raceland will get their perfect regular season and Russell will be well prepared going into the playoffs.
For Raceland it suprised me that they showed as many offensive looks as they did. The naked bootleg at the end of the first half was a great call. That was a huge play to give Raceland the lead at the half.

Great Ram team this year, but they aren't on the level of Beechwood. Beechwood could beat most of the 2A teams in the state and could put Russell away with ease. If you don't think so, just watch the playoff results. Beechwood should win the 1A State Championship!

It is clear that there are some different levels of football being played at certain schools that we in Northeast KY are unfamiliar with. Look at how Johnson Central destroyed Ashland tonight.

Carver gets alot of misdiretion yards and Denton is just an animal. It would have been nice if Rusell would have had Bailey available to compliment the running of Abrams.
Bechwood puts either of them away easily. Of course IMO Beechwood puts most teams in the state away easily regardless of class.
I have to add that special teams by both Raceland and Russell are atrocious.

I agree with this...except for Dolly's punting. Why in the world was he not punting last week?

For once, I agree. I still say they played better tonight than in any game this season.

After last week the coaches saw a need to fill that spot. Man they found a good one. Of course you still have to cover the punts after he kicks them. Let me add this as well. Dolly is the best tackling kicker you have ever seen. Some others need to watch how he does it.
