Can you think of any other coach in the area that is more qualified than the best big man ever to come out of this area, and most likely the best big man to come from the state of ky?
I never looked at it that way. 8)

Jr. Vanhoose maybe Todd who oh you mean transfer everywhere todd. Plus basketballonlyfan. knew you would respond because I was told who you where by a mutual friend.(baller@pburg) best of luck to big dev.

Yes, I am his dad... and sometimes parents do things that they think are in the best interest of there children. To me, basketball is a way for him to get a first rate college education. He wants to go to a division 1 school. And from my point of view, it would be better for him to learn from a Todd May, who has been to division 1 schools Also, I know now, being a parent that what you learn in school is far more importiant that what you learn on the court. Pikeville has better test scores than SF, and as far as I know, Pikeville has never been taken over by the state for failing to meet the requirements in the education part of it. High school basketball last for 4 years, what you learn in the classrooms last a lifetime. That is why I stand behind my decision.

and actually, Deven didnt transfer schools, he went from a middle school to a high school, how is that a transfer?? so how is that a transfer, even though the middle school and high school are in the same building, they was considered two different schools.

I don't see anything wrong with Deven going to school where he wanted and certainly if he or his family wanted him at Pikeville they did the right thing. He never entered SFHS and was only in the Middle School where he was on the basketball team. He went to camp this summer with The Raiders and maybe didn't see himself playing as much as he wanted next year. He is a quality young man and has plenty of potential. I wish him the best in what he or his father think was the best for him. I don't think there was ever any hard feelings about him not coming to South Floyd from their coaching staff.

Point taken William Bonney. I hope they all have a great year.

Devin is gonna need to develop some more skills. Last time I saw him play his height was his main assett. He did have a pretty nice short jump shot also. Needs to toughen up and learn to battle for the ball. He's on a new level , this aint middle school ball now. I saw a couple of like 5'8" kids circle him a few times and strip the ball away. As he gets physically stronger and learns from a fellow bigman he could surprise everyone with his game. I can say I saw alot of improvement in his playing with each middle school season.
Good Luck Devin !

i think prolly jody tackett and adam slone from south floyd. jody had good qualety minutes on the varsity last year, while adam helped jody alot in the finals of the floyd county middle school chapionship last year to victory.

A big kid like Devin has to have time to adjust after each growth spurt. Thats normal. He wont be at his best till his growth slows down. But he's pretty good. Have you seen him lately?

I never even seen jody tackett on varsity, although i did see him play in middle school. Jody looked like a good player but i think adam will be better. Adam slone is a true point guard who is very unselfish with the ball and will be fun to watch in the future.

I've watched Devin play since he was at Osborne on C Team. He will have a big adjustment from middle to high school. He needs to be more aggressive.

Maybe. I haven't seen him play much but he looks pretty good to me. He seems like a real nice kid too. I think he's going to have a good year.

I think a lot of kids have that one year where they make major improvements between seasons. Some do it in middle school and other high school. This may be Devin's big year. One thing he definitely has going for him- is his attitude. I have never seen him come off as arrogant or cocky. That will be a big plus for him in years to come. He seems pretty laid back and calm. Best of luck to him.

Jody Tackett transferred back to South Floyd.
09-21-2005, 07:52 PM
I think brandon tackett from bl will be one of the best. he played everything from center to point guard last year for sfms.
10-15-2005, 11:20 PM
Adam, Jody, Josh, and Blake Who?? Who are all of these kids. They must not be too good because you never hear about them. I'll tell you who is the top freshman. I've been scouting him a lot. Since his whole 8th grade year and I even went to Summer Camp and scouted him out. He is Tyler Kidd. I don't care what anyone says he could take any of these boys 1 on 1. During last years game against Allen Central "Kidd" as we all know him put up 34 points, he even pulled off a 4 point play. Now thats unheard of in gradeschool basketball. He nearly averaged a double double last season. He's been practicing non-stop. So watch out 58th distric here is your top freshman.

I can't knock Harmon, don't know the kid. But I can assure you he is not the best freshmen in the 58th district, which is what this thread was about. He may be the best freshmen in the 15th region though.
10-16-2005, 07:29 PM

Devin needs to learn fundamentals.. As for the best Freshman, It could go many different ways. Blake is my cousin, so I have seen him play several times, as to Jody's parents are old Family friends and I have watched him too. They both are good and will help there teams out.. My only thing is I hope that Jackie Day will use Blake instead of not letting him play due to being a freshman, he;s good and should see quality mintues on Varsity
