No games Tuesday, just a 7th grade semi-final game with LCC - vs- Sebastian at Sebastian.
This game was a barn burner between the Eagles and the Cougars. Cougars jumped out early with a 20-6 lead at halftime and the offense sputtered from that point on due to FUMBLES. The 2nd half for the Cougars was a mess.
Big Ed, THOMCAT and Mr. Slate were right. They did throw on the Cougars pretty much a will and I was wrong.
Now Big Ed, THOMCAT and Mr. Slate, you were wrong when you said the kids from Letcher County would roll over and LAY DOWN in the 2nd half. You were also wrong when you said it looked like they had never been hit in the mouth so eat some crow buddies. You just thought you would roll on over here in Letcher County and skip right into the championship game and the Cougars were more than willing to ruin your plans for the championship game.
That said the Eagles played like the 2nd best team we have played against this year (Patriots) were and still the best team we have seen but that aside your team was outstanding tonight. Not just #10 and #34 either, the whole bunch played their hearts out and I was proud to see two outstanding teams on that field. I heard the LCC coaches talking afterward and they were saying that this team will kill Perry next week and bragging on the Eagle team. This game was almost as fun to watch as the Cougar/Patriot game earlier in the year. Johnson Central you have one heck of a future over there with your high school team because these boys can play and play hard.
I will now eat some crow, I picked the Cougars in a landslide and I was wrong for that. I underestimated the Eagles and they proved me wrong, they came to win a ball-game and they almost did.
Big Ed, watch the tape, you will see that your boy caught the ball after only 7 yards and the ball was dead at that point. The coaches had it playing on their television because they said you complained after the game. It was not even close where your boy caught the ball, it was a correct call so no need to complain to the powers that be because I heard Coach Howard say that he had it on tape and if they wanted to b---- and moan he would glady drive over and give it to the commish if they wanted him to. This game was called fairly and they even had the assigning secretary Mike Melton of this region on the crew doing this one. Just admit you were beat tonight by a team that was not better than yours but just as good.
Chris Tyree, Dalton Taylor had great games tonight and packed the Cougars to the win. The defense stepped up when it had to at the end but boys you better fix that pass defense or you will end the season just like you did last year (2nd) place.

1. What happened to the LCC defense the second half?

Johnson Central seemed like a classy football team. I'm sure once the heat of the moment passes that he'll be able to except the loss. We all get caught up sometimes. Sounds like there is still some more football to played for both teams.

I beleive if you will look back at my previous posts, I said nothing negetive about Letcher Central or the game in general. My first post said that your prediction of a large win was very interesting. My next post said that I would be there to support the kids and that both teams should, and I quote, strap 'em on, step on the field and may the best team win. Nothing negetive on my part. The only one that I saw that felt it necessary to write a book on this site was you. Now to your reference to Mike Melton. If he is the assigning secretary for your region, then I feel sorry for your region. Our team had opportunities to win but could not get it done. Letcher has some very good athletes and the future looks good for you high school team. I am proud of our players for their determination and the heart that they showed.

I am complaining. Our film shows the ball going 11 and 1/2 yards before our kid touched it and our camera was a lot closer and shows it very clear. It is a shame that the refs had to determine the ball game. The second best team on the field won the game tonight. Central out classed Letcher and decisively beat them in the second half. Letcher layed down in the second half just like someone predicted. However I will give Letcher credit. They do have a good football team but they can't bring their refs with them. The white appologised to the Central coach after the game and admitted that this was the first game he had called this year. It showed.

Not sure what happened to our pass defense, yeah I do, they threw perfect passes and we covered pathetically. The play in question was an onside kick that they recovered but the the recovery happened after only 8 yards and the ball is dead at that point and it's illegal touching on the kicking team. Scared the heck out of me, I was sitting on the 50 yard line and almost came out of my seat. I saw it directly in front of me and so did the people in the box that they caught the ball on the bounce after only 8 yards but I didn't think the ref's were going to call it that way but they eventually did. Defense went all to pieces on Coach Howard and he has some work to do before next Saturday's championship game against Breathitt (Sebastian). They are very physical team that loves to pass the ball on offense and as you can tell we didn't defend it well tonight so I am sure that they will air it out in Johnson County next Saturday at 8:00. I'm sure the defensive coordinator (Tom Sayers) will pull out all the tricks this week to get into those cornerbacks and safety's heads, hopefully anyway. Go Cougars......

The last few days got pretty nasty between Letcher and Johnson Co. and I do apologize to anyone that I may have offended. Your boys played their hearts out and we were very lucky to come away with a win. Your guys deserved to get a win just as much as ours did. Great game to watch, I got my money's worth for sure and hopefully you all did to.

LCC should be the Conf. Champs. The only team that had a chance to beat them was JCMS. That should have been for the conf. championship. Eventhough Brethitt and Perry both beat JCMS, Letcher is definately the second best team they have played this year. New Harlan is just playing at a different level than any one in the conference.

When the refs decide the game as they did at LCC it makes it a hollow victory for the winner. They leave the field not knowing if they were the better team or not. This was a game of two halves. LCC clearly won the first half JCMS clearly won the second half. When that happens the team that wins the second half usually wins the game unless the refs get involved. Sorry LCC fans but you got beat and if you play like that against Brethit it will show on the scoreboard that you got beat because you can't bring your refs with you.

Here we go again, THE REFS BEAT US AGAIN. Then quit putting yourself into situations where ONE call could hurt yourself so bad. YOU LOST! Deal with it people, Letcher was better on this night, Don't get behind 20-6 and have to play form behind. We already beat Sebastian once, have you??? I can say the same thing about you guys, you didn't get bring your refs and you lost last night, but won last time we played over there, was that because of your refs??? You s--- Eagle Alum 1! People like you are the reason nobody in the Big Sandy likes you all, actually dreads to see you come to their town because your fans ruin a good night of football for everyone else.
Eagle Alum 1, your a sorry fan because you make your program look like a bunch of whining, spoon fed, better than everyone else JERKS.
It takes one very pathetic loser from Johnson Central to ruin it for your whole county. You guys started this last year, learn to lose with the same dignity you win with and you may eventually be considered a classy program like Letcher Central. You heard no complaining when they lost at your place and there were several iffy shall we say calls that night. Just suck it up buddy and quit making your program look like a bunch of whiners and sore losers. Take a lesson from your coach who does have a lot of class and say we got beat, we should have never been down 20-6 at halftime and we did outplay them in the 2nd half but it was our fault for being down that much. Your a pathetic person for starting this again this year. Will you just admit Letcher Central has a pretty good team since they have beaten you all 3 out of 4 times in two years. Quit pulling the ref card because we over here do not do that, if we lose we did something to put ourselves in the position to lose, there will always be close calls in every game and there were several that night earlier in Johnson Co but you never heard us complain, we came back and worked hard for that win last night. Why can't you just say that your team played their hearts out and that your proud of them? I'm sick of you people from over there, your hateful, complaining, whining, and just plain rude people, you were rude to our little 16 year old girl taking up money at the gate, rude to our chain men, foul mouthed, disrespectful to everyone. Learn how to lose it's an important part of winning especially at the high school level. I am sure there were several great, good hearted people in that crowd from Johnson Central last night and I am apologizing to for saying these things but those few make all of you look this way, you may need to do some in the house cleaning to straighten up the perception that people has of the fans from Johnson Central.

It is obvious Lambert that you have that hollow feeling of victory I was referring to. Well maybe next year you can find some good officials when we come up there and you won't have to worry about not knowing which team was actually the best team when the game is over.

Actually what I call it is a victory for JCMS minus the refs. Maybe the kids will get to settle it next year as freshman because nothing was settled on that field this year.

Thought that I would bold some of your truly classless remarks. I have seen our fans on this site complain about the officiating but have not seen any personal attacks. I have several friends from Letcher County that are great people. As a matter of fact, one of them came to see me Saturday and I truly enjoyed the visit. I am glad for my friends that you are not a representative of everyone from Letcher County. As for the remark about being rude to the chain gang. You are a liar. I am the assistant coach with the clipboard that stood beside the chain gang for the entire game. We talked the entire game and they were very nice people. One even complimented our team saying that this game was, and I quote "The best middle school game that I have ever seen". Just one additional request, would you please tell everyone where the official that everyone complained about is employeed. Would the answer be the Letcher County school system?
