You can say that again.....

Looks good....I think Pikeville is a top 10 team(even if they lose tommorrow in the mountains)but I am more interested in the top 10 going into the playoffs and the Panthers will be in that one. Good list overall and up to this point Hazard has been the surprise team in the mountains IMO. Its shaping up to be a very interesting season guys with a lot of parity.

Here is the PHSFAN Mountain Top 10
1.Bell County
2.Pulaski SW
3.South Laurel
4.Hazard
5.Leslie County
6.Rockcastle County
7.Somerset
8.Prestonsburg
9.Belfry
10a.Pikeville
10b.Whitley County
10c.Middlesboro
10d.Corbin
There are numerous of other teams that could be in the top 10....I can't ever remember a year with this much parity in every class in the mountains.

7.Prestonsburg

Don't quite get this part....???
Both Belfry and P'burg are 0-1 and both teams only scored 14 pts. in their respective games. I would place Belfry alot higher because their loss was to a Class 4A school loaded with D-1 prospects and beat Powerhouse & 5 time AAA State Champ Boyle Co. tonight at Boyle 45-13.
P'burg on the other hand lost to Class A Hazard, that from all reports has only one good offensive player, and without him would "struggle on offense"
7.Prestonsburg

I had ti fix it QQ because I left out South Laurel...I always forget AAAA teams in the mountains. Also you can tell in my new list I had a hard time decicding who should be #10. Like BP said Parity is the word so far to describe the 05 season if mountain football. Hazard and Somerset are both looking impressive QQ, so the Panthers have a lot of work to do.

If it makes you feel better BP then switch them around....personally I think the teams are dead even so they could easily be switched around. 8)

And Pulaski SW lost to Danville tonight....How are they a #2 ???
I dont think Belfry & P'Burg are that close right now. Belfry ran into a buzzsaw last week, I mean we all saw it coming. A loss to Hazard was a shocker...to say in the least.
There is no way that you can compare Henry Clay to Hazard is there ???
I am not upset tor anything, I just want to know your reasoning....simply that

a 3 point loss to Danville is pretty impressive in my book esp. after the Ads spanked Rockcastle last week 34-0.

I can already feel the tension mounting when the Pburg vs Pikeville game rolls around.. :o And i might add the Pikeville and Belfry game. They do play this year right??
08-27-2005, 01:40 AM
Rockcastle hasnt had a strong team the last few yrs. so I cant compare the two. I give credit to SW, they almost did it. But unfortunately almost dont count. 8)

Ya, BP said it well.. Parity.. Man this is going to be such an interesting season come district play. Who knows what will happen. We will be able to get a better read on Pikeville tomorrow and Belfry next week.

Belfry and Pikeville play every year...the game will be at Belfry this year. It should be a good game and I am looking forward to it.

Well if not.. I will keep you updated..Im gonna listen on the Radio after class. I am coming back to moms after class so I should be home by 6. just in time for kickoff.
I can give pretty much play by play. Not as good as being there .. But at least we all can stay up to date..
I think Andrew Joyce is covering the game tomorrow on 93.1 if Im not mistaken.

If you are going to be giving updates then I will probably just stay here at the house then....With gas as high as it is I think that is my best choice.

I dont know if we a top 10 team or not. I think we are. I think we played fairly good tonight .. All I can say is Hazard is a damn good team.

Rockcastle County is entirely too high. They were beaten like a government mule by Danville, then Southwestern pushes the Ads to their limit a week later. Also, Belfry (2A) loses to possibly a top 3 4A team by 29...Rockcastle (3A) loses to a top 3 1A team by 34 in a game in which they don't even put a single point up and they still are ranked higher?
Bell County should not be rewarded for losing.
In my opinion South Laurel should currently be the #1 team in the mountains.
1. SL
2. Leslie
3. Bell
4. Hazard
5. Belfry
6. Southwestern
7. Somerset
8. Whitley County
9. Rockcastle County
10. Prestonsburg
