I just found out something cool: on October the 5th, 1999, 17 days after the wreck while I was still in a coma, I was declared brain dead. So, for every stupid post I've ever made, I have an excuse  We've all made at least one stupid post, so what's your excuse? I bet it's not as good as mine
We just found this out a few weeks ago- nobody had even told my parents, and my mom says that, if they had told her, she would have pulled the plug (I'm 65% sure she was joking ).
Honestly, this blew me away- I should be laying in bed as a vegetable.
While blown away, I also find it hilarious now because I can use it as an excuse every time I say something stupid.

On another note, I got my first MRI since the wreck a few weeks ago, and the doctor takes a look at it and says "there's some positive things here: there's big gaps between your brain and skull and with empty spaces because you're missing a very large part of your brain." I just scratched my head, "how the is that good news?" He goes on to tell me that a big part of my brain was destroyed in the wreck and that, if he didn't know me and just looked at my MRI, he would assume that I was a vegetable.
I was laying around last night, and it all just hit me- I sat there and thought "wow, I was, in essence, pronounced dead." Kind of weird and makes me appreciate even being alive. But thank you all very much- I appreciate it.

Wow man quite an astounding story, I'm glad you can be here to share it with us.
Since you seem okay to talk about it.
Do you remember anything from the wreck or being in the coma? Or what? Ive always wondered these things and never had a chance to ask anyone.

I lost all memories from about a month or 2 leading up to the wreck.
I don't remember being in a coma, or even really waking up from a coma- one day I just remember being in the hospital and it felt like all the memories from before the wreck were in another lifetime or someone else's life- I had most of my memories but it was just all one big clump with no real timeline.
From what I've read, most coma patients are like that, but I'm not sure how much else about me is normal because, like I said, I'm an extreme medical abnormality.
I would never choose this condition in a million years, but I do think that it's kind of cool that I'm still this functional mentally and physically (obviously physically's a lot worse).
