Pikeville Soccer. Over -Or- Under Rated?

EXTREMELY overrated.
If you watch soccer at any central KY high school you will know this.
I saw a girls high school soccer game near Louisville play better than any soccer game I ever watched at Pikeville, boys or girls.

See here is where I have to disagree with you CE. Because its not like any soccer team Pikeville thinks they could dominate a team from Central or Western KY. It is a known fact around the soccer community that in this area soccer is still going through some major growining pains. We need better coaching in this area, because it all begins with the youth leagues and having parents coach who known little to nothing about soccer is the worst thing for the sport. Thus if you are not part of the soccer community i really do not see how you could judge. At your time in high school I could understand how you could base this theory by looking at who played for Pikeville high school. Because many of those boys thought they were the gods of soccer. To be completly honest players like Raphel Riegel, Cory (cant remember the last name), Ricky Birchfield, Atman and Brian Elkins could have all stepped into a central KY teams program and had a starting role at Catholic, Male, Dunbar, Henry Clay and so on. The problem now is kids in this area have not played their whole lifes and untill the 5 and 6 year olds get to be in the 9th and 10th grades. EKY soccer is going to be in a league below the rest of the state.
By the way whoever said Pike Central has a good team this year, beg to differ they have not won a game!!!

Pikeville does have a really good boys team for the past 2 or 3 years. Last year they were undefeated i think. Close to it, if not
Yeah what brought up the Pike Central thing anyways?

You are correct that I am, for the most part, basing my opinion on soccer teams from 3-4 years ago. I have no doubt that they have improved and are still improving, but this is what I saw:
A Pikeville team that dominated pretty much everyone else in the area and got big heads. Then I went to see Oldham County girl's soccer team play and to be honest, they could have run circles around any of the Pikeville teams (boys or girls).
I don't disagree with you that the program is still building, but just because you can beat up on lesser teams that are just starting out or trying to get a program going does not mean that you are God's gift to soccer. A little humility can go a long way.

Pikeville is extremely overrated. They can't play with any Central or Northern KY teams. They haven't even won district in boys since the '04 season. Perry has won the last 3 and no, they never went undefeated, the only team to do so in the regular season was Perry in '06. My senior year lol.

I know thats what I am trying to say but its not really in the communities eyes that they are overrated because the community know that outside this are it is a totaly diffrent world. If we base this off of 3-4 years ago then yes Pikeville was overrated based off what the players made themselves look like and the parents. However, the soccer community still knew the would never be Catholic, or St. X and so on. But yet again back then I agree now being around the kids and parents I would say they are right where they need to be. They know there place. They know Perry is the favorites to win district, they know Corbin in the team to beat in regionals, and that it would take a miracle change to compete at state.

ummm no, its coming from someone who realizes pikeville has not done anything in soccer in over 4 years. Yet year in and year out the think they are among the best when they NEVER are.

pikeville is good, and its hard to say if they are overrated. theres no way you can call them overrated in the district...
but their problem is that no matter how good they play perry central pikeville always seems to struggle against the weaker teams in the district or region.
Im not saying they'd lose to pike central, but i believe shelby or letcher could give them a run come district.

They are overrated as far as I am concerned.

I agree with dore20. Pikeville is overrated when it comes to certain things. They havnt done much in a few years despite having a good team. Soccerdrew is also correct, they always play sub-par come district time. Perry is always ready.

All Perry has done is win a sub par district, granted Andrew Lunsford's senior year they were runner-ups in region that is all they have done. Perry is a good team but IMO Pikeville is not that far behind. Region is always between four teams who are above the rest in this region and that is Corbin, Perry, South and Pikeville.
Now if we were to place Perry and Pikeville in Souths and Corbins district chances are neither team makes it out the past four years but once. That being Perry.
The reason i belive they are NOT overrated is because I have talked to the coach and players whom all state. "We can beat any team in this area and have the talent to due so. However, untill we beat Perry we have underachieved out goal." So do they go into the Perry game expecting a win not necesarilly but they do believe they are capable of winning.

They dominated corbin earlier that year at corbin.

And well u can tell there players and coach they CANT beat perry and the DONT have the talent at all to do so.

See here is the problem with most people from Perry. They are the most cocky people on earth and for what. A few district championships? No one is saying Perry isnt good. No one is saying Pikeville is the favorites so why in the heck are you complaining. By the way no they would not have made it out of that district more than once. Perry has beaten South once and Corbin once and that is it so say what you want but the record speaks for its self. Same goes for Pikeville against Perry.

If this is a Perry vs Pikeville battle, you have to look at it this way.
Pikeville is capable of beating Perry, anyone is on a bad day.
Perry is capable of beating Pikeville by 5 goals...
Pikeville could not play with Corbin
Perry could pull off the upset
But for the topic, no one said Pikeville would do anything amazing this year, so i'd say no one overrated them

See you need to get your facts straight we have beat corbin twice, once in 05 and in 06 bub. so the record dose speak for its self. And it isnt that we are that cocky it is just we know Pikeville cant beat us, they just flat out cant do it.
Come district it will just be another championship for pcc and if we can playlike we should in region it will be a party all the way to the state tourney. :letsparty

The region stacks up like this in my opinion
1. Corbin
2. South Laurel
3. Perry Central
4. OBI
I believe that Corbin's schedule and depth give them the edge. They have played some very good competition(Tates Creek, Madison Central, Montgomery Co., Ryle, Berea, Richmond Model, Somerset...) this year and held their own in every game.
OBI can be a very good team if they have everyone available and are playing team soccer. South Laurel and Perry Central are virtually even and either one could win the region. I have not seen Pikeville play, so I really don't know about them.
Which district will host the region this year?
1. Corbin
2. South Laurel
3. Perry Central
4. OBI

Pikeville is over rated in eastern Ky. like it was stated before beating up on new teams is nothing. they don't play out of region and will never get better until they do. It looks good for stats to run up the score on new team but do you become a better team?

They did play Ashland Blazer this year but i think that might have been the only out of region game.
