Do you like the new playoff system?

FWIW,
Mapquest Phelps, KY to Fulton, KY 7.5 hours, then you take into consideration stopping for refueling, stopping for restrooms, travelling on a bus (much slower), and stopping for dinner.... guarantee it is 10 hours or more

Not to mention the fact that it is over 400 miles one way.... thats alot of fuel that ahs to be bought ina time when fuel is far from cheap.

blitz43 Wrote:NO! We need a points system. Each team gets points for each win. If the teams you beat, beat somebody, you get bonus points from them also. The tougher your compitetion, the more points you get. Teams get ranked from all their points. At the end of the year, you have 16 teams in each class. #1 plays #16, etc. It makes teams schedule tougher opponents to get a higher ranking. No watered down playoffs. You have to win to get in. No more 1-9 teams making the playoffs. Of course, everybody knows, it just boils down to making more money.

Absolutely not! Everyone fusses about the computer state rankings in almost every forum. Thats all we need to do is put our play-off existence in the hands of the same computers.

I have a friend that graduated from a school in Ohio that went 10-0 his senior year, won their conference and did not receive enough points to get into the playoff. Imagine being in a district with very weak competition and missing the playoffs because of the competition you are forced to play. Could happen!

You all quit talking about Ohio's point system. There's is apparently flawed. I am refering to WV's point system. No team would miss the playoffs at 10 - 0. (Even in Ohio). WV has a great system. I can't explain it all but it is better than the watered down system we have.

That used to happen over there a lot before they added more teams. And still happens. And they have the nerve to be critical of our system.

Read the previous posts. About 2 or 3 up. We done cleared this issue up.

blitz,
You still haven't addressed my issues with your proposal. There are some major schematical differences between Kentucky and West Virginia, both geographically and enrollment wise, and what I outlined would single handidly be enough reason to throw this proposal out the window. Let alone the fact that there are ALOT more Kentucky schools than WV schools.

You are wrong! A point system is a point system wether its in Ohio or West Virgina, you still earn points based on your competition and there strength or what the person who enters the data in the computer feels there strength is.

And you are wrong again. Coal Grove missed the playoffs in 1972 with a 9-1 record, 1973 with a 10-0 and in 1982 with an 8-2 record. So don't say no team would miss the playoff because they already did!

OK I am going to use Belfry as an example.

In West Virginia you get 6 points for beating an A school, 9 for AA and 12 for AAA.

If Belfry was in WV they would be a Double A.

Belfry is 4-0 they would have 41 bonus points for a 10.25. Belfry would be ranked # 5.

Here is how.

Defeated Class A Holy Cross that is six points. Received four additional bonus points for there wins. That is 10.

Defeated AAA Lawrence County. Worth 12 points.

Defeated AA East Ridge that is 9 points.

Defeated AA Shelby Valley that is 9 points. Valley has one win with an opponent that is AA or higher. Don't count Phelps win because they are a class lower than Valley.

Total it up that is 41 divide it by 4 = 10.25 # 5 ranking.

That would mean a first round playoff game versus a 12 seed.
Top 16 in each class gets in. top 8 home field advantage

If Belfry beats Pikeville that would be worth 8 Points this week.

If Belfry was in WV that is how the point system works
