Thoughts?
More games to come this is just a pre schedule.

I look for Pburg to have a good year this year. They arent big but they are quick and athletic and most important Coach Pack is coaching the boys this year. They will have a winning season for the first time in a few years IMO.

I see p-burg in the 58th as the favorite, but they better not let it goto there heads good team ball and work ethic, and this team could pull out the 58th..as for the region thats another story the could end up 2nd or 3rd I just can't see them beating Shelby Valley... GOOD LUCK CATS

Why do u see P-Burg as the favorite?

They lost 3 out of 5 starters( Jordan Hall, Nathaniel Stevens, and Taylor Clark)
They return Burchett and Tackett, who will have to do most, if not on some nights all the scorin. Other than that, I see P-Burg being quick, strong and physical, which on some nights could give other district foes problems if they are not the same way to the Blackcats. And judgin by what they have on their schedule so far I see them having around or a game or 2 above .500

It doesnt matter who they lost. Its a whole new year with a whole new coach. Burchett and Tackett has atleast 5 or 6 other players to help them. Not saying they are going to blow everyone away but they will turn alot of heads.

Yes it does matter who they lost. You've got a couple of factors that can help or hurt you being experience and depth. What has the others that will help proved?. They haven't proved they can score and most em haven't even played quality varsity minutes. Don't get me wrong they will have a good as chance as anyone to be at the top of the district.

Don't forget about Gearheart, definitely the best big man in the 58th.

Smile is that sarcasm?... He's a hustler, but not the best big man by any stretch of the imagination.

Yeah, they did at camp. You are in for a big surprise. I mean i know experience helps but by the time tournament time comes around they will be ready IMO. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Summer Camp doesn't mean a thing. P-Burg will have a good as a shot anyone to win the conf. and district tournament. I agree with BillSelf, they havent proved themselves yet. To say their the favorites is a bold statement.
#11
Blackcats are going to be just like everyone else in the 58th --- they have a shot at the district. IMO they are all equal. I don't see anyone from the 58th competing for the region

I think the Jamerson kid will help out a lot and see a lot of PT, if he doesn't start.

He has PT but i dont see him making alot of noise his freshman year.
#14
Who will start for the Blackcats? Also, who will be coming off the bench?

I'd say Pack will probably have a 8-9 man rotation.

lol not even close. Hunter Crowder from AC, Josh Prater from AC (if you consider him a "big man") Josh Head from BL and possibly even Corey Paige from SF are better than Gearheart. Like someone else said, he hustles, but not much basketball talent there.

As for pburg as a whole, i see them having a pretty good year, a little better than last year, and i see a repeat of last year with them and AC meeting in the district championship, and that will be a toss up. As for them finishing 2nd or 3rd in the region.. haha definitely not. The district is weak this year, as it has been for a few years. Not like it matters tho, cause no one in this area will beat Valley. You can say what you want, but summer league means absolutely nothing. Most teams don't have their full roster, no one is in season shape, and the players don't have the heart like a regular season game.

Mark it down right now boys... Gearheart will be the top rebounder for the 58th & a top player . He has matured and is one of Pburg's top athletes. PBurg should be strong this year. Look too be surprised.

yeah he is a good athlete, i never said he wasnt.. someone could be an unbelievable athlete, but with no basketball talent, you wont do much.

He has basketball talent. He has played off of his life, i guess we'll just have to wait and see.
#20
They will do so much better then last year they have a coach this year!
#21
This years team will be well conditioned, more team oriented, and they'll rebound better mostly because of the intensity that Jack Pack has brought the program. I'd expect them to be a run & gun type team by getting up and down the floor scoring on easy baskets.

Starting line-up should be...

C/F- Steven Patrick
F- Austin Gearheart
F- Cameron Tincher
G- Jody Tackett
G- Michael Burchett

Bench will consist of...

Alex Stumbo
Tyler Hall
Vincent Hayes
Austin McKinney
Kyle Gearheart
Josh Blackburn
Zak Key
Warren Blackburn
Joseph Jamerson
Seth Carter
Corey Carter

I wouldn't expect to much out of this years team, but they will perform better than past teams that had much more talent. Schedule will be much tougher this season as they'll be playing in a Scott County tournament and they luckily drawled Scott County in the 1st round.

Best of luck to the team this season!:redboxer:

Not at all, he has matured a lot in the past year. No one has really seen him play at the level he's capable, we'll just have to wait until season comes around.

Obviously your definition of basketball talent and mine are much different..

Best of luck to Coach Pack and the Blackcats this season.

I think the biggest thing that will hurt P-Burg this year is Foul Trouble!!
Depth, they don't have"PERIOD" The one thing that will improve them this year is that they will not have to rely on ONLY Upper class men talent! Their previous Coach thought that you had to be a Senior or a Junior to be able to take the floor in a game situation. I know for a fact that Coach Pack will do WHATEVER it takes to win! Their team consist of a bunch of hard-nosed, Tough individuals but, like I said, could hurt them in the Foul department. I guess it will depend in the long run, how smart some of their better players can play with a couple of fouls and, how can some of the younger, more inexperienced players step up when they need them.

I dont know if someone has already started this thread and if so sorry.

When Pburg gets all their starters back our lineup will probably be:

Jody Tackett
Micheal Burchett
Steven Patrick
Austin Gearheart
Cameron Tincher

Realisticly how far do you think this team can go and where do they stand in the 58th district.

haha, dude give everyone a break and shut up. You must be gearheart, because no one in there right mind is gonna say that.

But as for prestonsburg, the only player they have is micheal burchett... who is a very good player I might add, and jody tackett is a good deffender, so when you look at p-burg, there gonna havt to slow it down, and let micheal burchett do all the scoring.. and play tight deffense, and have a low scoring game for both teams.... because they dont have the players to put up alot of points this year....

I think they will be a 2nd seed behind betsy layne, allen central is way down this year in losing johny, and they will need some help for logan crowder. But i dont think the blackcats are in for a very good season this year.

Prestonsburg can put points on the board, did you not see Alex Stumbo score 20+ points against JBS @ AC Wednesday? Tyler Hall, Alex Stumbo, Michael Burchett and Jody Tackett are the shooters. Tincher, Patrick and Gearheart are the players that will do all the work down low.

District will come down to Pburg & Betsy Layne IMO, AC just doesn't have enough scorers, and South Floyd always has problems with shot selection, turnovers and rebounding.
#29
IMO Prestonsburg is going to very good running up and down the court and scoring on the easy ones and as far as Gearheart goes he is a very good basketball player and has not been able to showcase his ability the way Burchett and Tackett have. Also IMO Stephen Patrick is a very good basketball player he also doesn't have very much playing time under his belt. He is tall and athletic quick and mobile he is a very good post player.

Steven Patrick can also step out and drain 3 ball, and if you take it in on him he can also pin em' on the backboard.
