Breathitt

Every game the Black Bears have played no one but Black Bear Nation has expected them to win and as fans we expect them to win every game. The mention of our schedule keeps coming up I guess everyone has forgotten that we played Letcher Central to the wire in the first game ever (Had that game been at home we could have won it) these boys now have four games under their belt and Coach Larkey has everything worked out. The combination of our strong defense and Breathitts offensive struggles thus far I see Harlan County winning this game. The emotions will be high again being the first time they have played in Harlan County and the Black Bear Nation that has traveled with them will grow at home and it should be a very exciting night for Harlan County. Bears Win 28-17. Go Bears!!!

I'm not sure why everyone says that Harlan County hasn't played good teams, Letcher Central, Lynn Camp, Fleming County & Lee Va aren't exactly easy win teams. Harlan County is a good team, not taking anything away from Breathitt as they are good too. But like Patriot said, I think most people who root for HC are fans from Harlan. If they play like they did in the first half against Lee, then Breathitt would probably come out with a win. But they were playing under a different QB and they still had a couple of players that weren't playing Friday night.
If you think Lee Va is an easy team to beat, go play them... remember they stayed with Gate City (I think that was the team) who is a power house over in Va. The teams that HC have played are not easy teams. The defense is good, getting better each game, just need to work on the containment as Larkey has said and then get some of the players back that have been out and they will do fine.
Make no mistake, Breathitt is a good team, BUT so is Harlan County!
Sorry about the longness...

Not sure of the Virginia team, but their record is nothing special this year. I have no doubt that Harlan is a quality team, but the fact remains that the teams they have played have a combined record of 6-9...Fleming is losing big to everyone they play, and Lynn Camp is not fairing much better. No one is saying that Harlan is not a good team, just that there should not be too much made of them beating the teams they have beaten. I wish both teams in the Breathitt\Harlan game the best and hope that there are no injuries...

We're awfully proud of our boys thus far. With this first year, there were lots of concerns. I think things have come together nicely. Our team is improving every game. Each game has given us fans a little bit more hope than the next. It's fun to win.
I wish we had Letcher on our schecule a little later than we did. I would respectfully have to disagree with you, that the Letcher team is average.
Nobody has said it, but we have been looking ahead to this game. If we can pull off a win against Breathitt then I think we will start to get a little more respect across the state. This game will be a huge challenge against a much respected mountain power house football team.
Now, just how good is Breathitt compared to last year's team?

Next season HCHS will be 5A playing Letcher, Clay, Perry, Whitley, one of the Laurels (North or South). I'm probably forgetting someone.

The Black Bears are strong, but this one will not be a walk in the park. They looked good even in the first half against Lee High, but missed a few opportunities and barely missed I must say. Second half was dominant Bears and they could've blown it out very big. The Bears were even without their QB and I thought the fill-in did a good job. This game is going to be a totally different game and atmosphere. I predict the Bears will rise to the occasion and take the win in a close one, but that defense will need to establish theirselves in the backfield.

BrahmaBull, you absolutely make my head hurt. You say you think Harlan County will win, but then say Harlan County is not that good and our defense is not that good because we've played "inferior" teams so far. Have you been to ANY of our games??? No, I don't think so. You didn't even go to this past weeks' Breathitt game (according to you), so how do you know anything about them besides what you've read or been told. You say Breathitt is not as good as years past and are an "average team" and blame it on the play-calling, but that Breathitt should not be overlooked because of their history....and BELIEVE ME when I say the Harlan County Black Bears and Bear fans aren't looking over anyone; we want to beat each and every one of you, week by week, team by team. We WANT to prove ourselves. Leave us out of the rankings...who cares. What matters is what happens on the field every week. You've flipped-flopped in your replies and answers in this thread more than a 5-year-old gynmast wannabe.

They have not played anyone that is descent offensively, outside of LCC. I have not said that Harlan was not a good team, just that they should not be judged based on the teams they have played thus far. Before you come at me know what I have written.......As far as flip-flopping, learn to read ........... and you will realize that I have been consistent in saying that Harlan seems to be the better team but I beleive they have not played anyone of substance outside of LCC.

The Black Bears are looking at this game with a lot of significance; District first, then the fact that when we beat Breathitt that will give us some much deserved credibility. Or maybe it want because I'm sure some folks out will say that Breathitt is not that good or having a down year and try to tarnish another quality Black Bear Win. And again YES I believe the Bears will win because a good fan just does. Go Bears!!!!

I CAN and DID read. You only said LCC was was (and I quote) "usually an average" team after sco6cheer called you out on saying the Bears haven't played any good teams. :dontthink
Anyway, this will all be settled on the field under those Friday Night Lights in Harlan County, Kentucky on September 26th, and we are proud to host Breathitt in our first ever home game. Good luck to both teams, and may the Bears come out on top with our first home win of the season. We are proud of our Bears and cannot wait until they step onto that field this Friday -- GO BEARS!!! The Bear Nation will be out in HUGE force to cheer you on!!!

Have they beaten anyone that would make me feel differently? It is funny that you seem to react by being offensive and rude when you read something you do not agree with. I do not claim to be right about things, nor do I think I am wrong about everything....I respect your opinions even though you have not backed up any of your opinions with any facts...

And I do not want to hear "we played hard" or "we looked good" because bottom line is that the only team that Harlan has played with a winning record they lost. No disrespect intended to the Harlan team, but facts are facts.....If you have read what I have said throughout this thread you would know that I have said that HC has a good team and should win this game.

how is harlan doing this year?

Breathitt's defense is definitely ahead of the offense at this point in the season. For that reason I believe this game will be a nail biter. Given that the game is at Harlan I give them the slight edge as they should be favored.
