Pikeville 68 - Betsy Layne 0
#1
Contgrats to Pikeville on the district win. Harmon with 6 td's for the game. Pikeville had running clock in the second quarter. Pikeville pulled starters with a minute or two left in the game.

Ouch.

Sound like the Panthers didn't like being shut out last week.
#3
Ouch is right, Congrats Pikeville.
#4
Wait, running clock in second quarter and starters played till 2 minutes left? This coach is just asking for injuries isn't he?

Pikeville pulled starters with a minute or two left in the game[/COLOR].

Does Pikeville not have a bench or did they try to prove a point. Not sure what that point would have been.

Congrats Panthers....don't know why they were content on running up the score???? Nothing good can come from leaving your starters in that late. No need to make a statement like that against betsy layne...make your statement next week.

WOW, congrats Pikeville.

Come on people...I agree that the starters played a little too long but I am sick at people taking up for these teams that are PITIFUL every year. Either take some pride in the program to make it better or drop the sport altogether!! Betsy Layne has been horrible for years and years and nothing ever changes. This was a year that they should have competed just a little bit with Pikeville because they are fairly young and a bit down. 68-0.... That is PATHETIC!!

Thats a slap in the face to Betsy Lane. Besty Lane isn't a football school unlike Pikeville so that means they don't have enough people to put the support behind it. Pikeville should of pulled the starters at the middle of the third on a running clock to save injuries but glad to see no one was injuried. Good Win Pikeville

No no no, Copley played ALOT of Freshmen, one scored around 2 TD's. It was a Maroon Massacre tonight

You are right, 68-0 is a slap in the face alright!

That is PATHETIC!!!Rolleyes
IS CORRECT, PATHETIC OF PIKEVILLE AND PATHETIC FOR SOMEONE TO GET ON HERE AND SAY THAT A SCHOOL SHOULD DROP THEIR PROGRAM BECAUSE THE ARE NOT LIVING UP TO YOUR STANDARDS.

Just a question. If someone from Ashland would have said that about Pikeville last week, what would your response have been?

Don't ever ask your kids to give less than 110%

As a coach YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHEN TO PUT THE GUN IN THE HOLSTER.

Have a little respect for the kids

pikeville was the better team tonight, yeah starters in all game, kind of risky but its football. other team do something about it. its that simple. the coach cant play for you, its you and you alone, i have been handed a few beatings like this being part of a certain 3a team,2a when i played, but its part of the game. suck it up and play next week. the only way you can get better is to play. if they drop the program then all will be lost. no one should drop a program no matter how bad it is. maybe their band is awesome.

People wonder why people don't respect Pikeville Athletics and this is why. Any other school that I know of woul dhave pulled their starters in the third quarter like someone stated earlier. No reason to do something like that while I understand they may have been working on some things still no reason to leave them in with just a few minutes left in the game. Thats fine though because I am sure Belfry will put it on Pikeville even with their freshman playing most of the second half.

Congrats to Pikeville however on the win, looks like they may have found their nitch in the running game.

Nice win Panthers, just think its a little harsh to leave your starters in that long, but hey its not my call. Keep your heads up BL, from the way SF played tonight, you may come out with a win next week!!
#19
People....A running clock gave Pikeville what 2 maybe 3 possessions from the second quarter on? Can't blame them or their coaches for this one getting ugly.
#20
Can anyone tell me how many kids will be sitting out next week due to the skirmish, heard on WYMT that there will be suspensions due to kids leaving the sideline, any details?
#21
Starters(Skill):

Harmon(TB)- only touched the ball 12 times, scored 6 TD's(1TD called back)144 yards rushing.

Josh Mullins(TB)- only touched the ball once

Ross McCoy(FB)- only toched the ball once or twice.

Blake Branham(QB)- only threw the ball 3 times, had 2 completions(1 for a TD)

Tyler Baker®- thrown to twice, caught 1 for a TD

Starters(Line)

Various subs throughout the game.

People need to realize that there was a running clock midway through the 2ND quarter. There were 4 new starters on the defensive side of the ball that are normally subs, two of which were in new positions. Pikeville is trying to prepare for a run in the playoffs, not concentrate on how not to beat BL so bad. Do not make Pikeville out to be the bad guy on here. How about giving some credit for turning their team around after the good thumping they got last week.

I think they played with alot more desire and intensity. Some of the kids that had terrible games last week, came out and looked like different kids tonight. I know it was against BL, but they played harder and with more intensity.

Good luck to BL on there season!

Pikeviile needs to be in 2A THAT IS WHERE THEY BELONG.
#23
Pikeville should use that desire and intensity next week against Lexington Catholic.

Why? They are one of the smallest 1A schools. Would you prefer they step up to 2A and hand over the reins to BL. "Maybe, and I'm just spiffballing here, that BL needs to train there lads. Yes, I'm certain I read that somwhere." LOL!

I definatley agree.
#26
What goes around...comes around. Just hope i am here on the come around. Keep working Bobcats.
#27
I believe I read alot of posts from BL fans early before season that they thought they ould compete for this district. Sometimes you have to be careful what you ask for.
#28
Good game panthers, but lack of respect bad coaching..
#29
here is how I see it, Betsy Layne Grade School is a powerhouse right now, Copley wanted to advertise his program to try to pull some kids from them. I understand why you did it, but remember this, the bobcats will play another day and dropping the program will never happen.
#30
I don't know what happened but I did turn on the radio to catcha fourth quarter run by Harmon to make it 68-0 and the radio was bashing Pikeville. Harmon didn't need to gain expereince. Belfry was in same situation and starters didn't see the field int he second half. I mean in all honesty no excuse, and blame goes on nobody but the coach plain and simple.
But congrats on getting back on track. I could see them playing some guys and getting them that confidence, but Harmon isn't one that needs to be, they need to be developing players to take pressure off of him
