The Panthers will travel to Putnam Stadium, home of the Tomcats... should be an excellent game.
I'd like to see Copley's Panthers come out on top in this one, they seem to have another really tough team.
Best of luck to both!

I'm gonna take Pikeville in this one, with my boy Baker having a big one.

I see Ashland coming away with the victory in this one.

A close game, but i believe pikeville will come up short.

Pikeville better win by 21 to be able to match raceland this year.... yea I know what you are going to say but alot of errors cost Raceland some scores...

I put my vote on Pikeville. It will be a dandy though. If Pikeville however does not have the lead in the Fourth and contol the ball then Ashland will surely pull it out. I probably just put my foot in my mouth. Lol!!!!

Using that logic Raceland better be at least 2 TDs better than Corbin to be able to match Pikeville this year...yea I know what you are going to say but a lot of errors cost Pikeville some scores...

Ashland is not as good as in the years past, but I'll take the Tomcats by 14. Ashland is hard to beat at home and I just don't see Pikeville going down to Putnam and beating the Tomcats. However, as Ashland has been down since last season and Pikeville is fielding a decent team, it could be close. But I just don't see Pikeville winning it.

I'm wanting the panthers to win 100% but IMO Pikeville just isnt as good without Tim, Ted, and Chaz Jackson as linebackers...Defense will lose this game

I expect Harmon to break loose and have a big game on the ground.

If the Panthers can get the LB corp to step up and contain, and Branham can solidify the passing game, it should be a close game. Ashland has the benefeit of being at home, and if they can run on the outside it could be a long night for the Panthers.

I look for him to have a good game too , BUT, they better worry about running the offense officiently , not seeing how many times # 24 can touch the football, IMO, the man in the press box needs some more help up there getting offensive play selection to the feild. IMO!!! also looks like they will have another one of last years starters back this week , coming of a injury, that should help them also. Also let me say Ratliff plays safety very well against a RUN OFFENSE, soon as he reads run, he attacks, bringing a big hit. he deffinetly should be on the feild on Defense. IMO Pikeville will win friday in a tough one. go panthers

Pikeville showed me a lot against corbin only allowing them 23 points. The defense was pretty decent to me but can be better and will get better as the season comes along. Pikevilles Quarterback needs to really work on his passes to his wide recievers to give them good chances of catching the ball. The passes i saw were very poor and would of easliy been picked off if baker wasnt a good reciever so he wide out helped him that game but it can not happen over and over or this will be a very bad year for pikeville. I am not sure if he gets excited or scared back but i believe he will get better as the season comes along and lets the game come to him instead of trying to force it. But Ashland wins this game by 10.

This is a must win game for Ashland.... losing to 1A Pikeville and Raceland at home in back to back years will really heat up the water there.

If they lose again I bet they will start excepting resume's for the coaches position.

Ashland - 38
Pikeville - 8
This is a must win for Ashland. IMO. However, the Panthers could use it too. I predict Ashland Jumps out early and never looks back.

#24 averaged 7 yards per carry, in my opinion he should get the ball as much as possible. I think he carried the ball 31 times with no fumbles. He's a pretty sure thing. Everything else still has to get better. What makes you think they were just trying to see how many times #24 could get to touch the football?

question, Why doesnt Ashland come to Pikeville and play? the panthers had to go to blazer last year...and beat them.. lol

That is a question alot of teams wonder. Especially teams who have had far more success in the past ten years and just as nice of facilities

I came in for the P'ville/Corbin game and saw no passing game in P'vlle. They had better improve which I guess they can.... Ashland should win this one..

bball fan is right. Money is the reason. Ashland can offer more money to schools than they would generate if they hosted the game, and they jump at the opportunity to make a quick buck.
Also, in reference to the facilities, a new $5 million dollar project for the renovation and upgrade of Putnam Stadium has been approved and will implemented over the next several seasons.

I agree with your statement that it is about money but I'm not so sure about the bolded...Ashland makes more money because they don't have to pay the travel expenses they would have to if they had to travel to Pikeville but I believe Pikeville would probably make more money for themselves if they hosted the game...I know Pikeville probably gets more financial incentive to travel here each year compared to a normal home and home series but Pikeville would surely clear more $$ if they hosted the game...Pikeville has played Ashland 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years and it is always at Ashland I believe...Pikeville has a nice football facility that could handle the crowd I'm sure...Ashland fans don't travel like they used to...There are probably reasons we don't know why they agree to traveling to Blazer each year rather than hosting every other year...Raceland does the same thing...Maybe its about that "Tomcat Tradition" and getting to play at "Historic Putnam Stadium" as all the Raceland fans profess on that other site that many of us used to roam...And, maybe it is to get a little extra $$ coming in to help with the cost of the much needed stadium renovation project...Maybe it's both reasons, neither of them, or something else???
Give A.D. Mark Swift credit...There have only been 3 seasons in the last 10 years in which Ashland has hosted only 5 of their 10 regular season games as most teams do(5 home/5 away)...Most years he manages to get them at least 6 regular season home games and in 2004 he got them 7...He's not holding a gun to these teams' heads to get them to agree to play only at Ashland...They have to say yes...Many of us may not understand why they do it and we honestly don't need to...At the end of the day, if both programs are happy with the arrangements then that's all that really matters...
