Belfry 2009 schedule?
#31
I wish Belfry and Prestonsburg would play each other again. Boy how I miss those days.

PaytoPlay Wrote:The above post is most like accurate forshadowing. Not going to make a lot of Belfry opponents happy, but Belfry has no control over the fact that Mingo's new consolidated high school will force Williamson kids to travel OVER 30 minutes per day one way to get to the new school. On the other hand, they could travel 5-10 to get to Belfry.

Shoot! If I lived in Williamson, Kermit, Burch, or anywhere in Pigeon Creek. I would definitly travel to Belfry to play football. The people they play and the success they have will do nothing but get yourself better looks from scouts. The only thing that would keep me from moving would be a hot girlfriend.....LOL TongueirateSho

The school will be in between Burch & Matewan. Belfry will get some (more) Williamson players & probably some Matewan boyz too. I don't think Tug Valley will be affected that much. It would be too far for the Gilbert boys and Belfry probably don't want anyone from Burch...LOL. It will be intresting to say the least. Good luck Belfry.

Believe me when I say this, there are very few kids over there that Belfry would want. They have 0 discipline and most that have not already come could not handle it academically.

Belfry might gain 10-20 more kids with only 3-5 of those being any athlete worth talking about.

Wheeling Central Community College...I mean High School would be the team to beat over there. They're "A" and could handle most "AAA" & all "AA", "A" schools here in KY. The only team Wheeling would have trouble with in WV would be Parkersburg. Belfry would be in the Championship most yrs. in WV. Bluefield would give them trouble though.TongueirateSho
I know somebody up around Wheeling and am very familiar with the school. That person came to Belfry to watch a game and said no way could Wheeling Central handle the physical play of Belfry. I also believe Bluefield was better than them last year, Bluefiled had the best team they had in a while last year.
But I really believe Belfry would beat Central, the tough breed of football would take a tole on them. As for Belfry and Bluefield, it would be a battle. As for Parkersburg, those guys are good.

Belfry Wins, I hope you guys would thump Wheeling! That's the only reason Gilbert don't have 3 more Championship Trophys in their trophy case. We just can't seam to get past the Wheeling Central Community College...LOL Oh well though...that's why you play though. You got to beat the best to be the Champs. I would love to see a few WV powers play some of the better teams from KY. It would be some great FB. BTW, we here in Powell have a past player of your's that coaches for us. R. Skeens. He coaches OL and have heard he was a pretty good player at Belfry. I think he was on the team that went to the Championship in the mid 80s. TongueirateSho If we ain't in the running, I always pull for the great Pirates of Belfry.

i don't think they need to play richlands va,i went and watched them play the gate city bluedevils last night and at one point they was down 27-0 in the 4th and the last 5 min they scored twice..i never seen either play until last night but neither team could come close, probaly would be like belfry playing shelby valley, unless they are really down this year.
