Benchwarmer Wrote:Those non-district games out of their class don't mean a thing. These smaller schools play bigger schools to be better prepared for district games. Afraid to play better competition? Makes no sense. Harlan County has 1400 kids. That is even huge for 5A football. About 15 more boys and you would be playing 6A football. Now it's not your fault you are put in this situation but it's really not fair to all the small schools playing you for district games. Another way of looking at it you will have more boys (700) than some 3A schools have kids (Henry County 667 total students). What does numbers have to do with it? Harlan County over 90 players. Most 3A schools 35-40 players. So stop complaining about people complaining.
"Stop complaining about people complaining" What do you think you are doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I asked the Letcher folks a question and apparently everyone thinks its there business. As I said before we will still have the same number of players on the field while the game is going on. I think it makes perfect sense to say they are afraid to play better competition why else would the not want to? "Those non district games don't mean a thing" WHAT? Playing better competition makes you better and shows people you have a quality program and are not AFRAID to play anyone. Seems like every time you mentioned something you contradicted yourself.
If people aren't on Harlan County's schedule they have no reason to complain.
This is something people are just going have to agree to disagree on because I believe we could give pro's and con's till the cows come home.

I look for the Bears to pull off a win in a low scoring battle. Both teams should be very solid on "D".

Letcher Central should be the better team in this game. Im not going to call a score, but LCC should win by around 14-28 points.

Of course all of here in Harlan County think we have a chance to win. Should be a good game. The emotions of a first game should carry our boys a little and make up for their inexperience playing together.
I look forward to these two teams becoming mountain powerhouses and starting a good district rivalry every year.

the only thing that we need to work on is special teams. That killed us in the highlands game last year. We had three punts blocked which lead to 3 td's. I hope that coach howard will work on that.

Special Teams could get you in this game, if Letcher kicks to Smith or Gilliam.

Its all gonna boil down to how well the new Bears in the woods can jive up. If they really together then it will be a battle,if not then Hillards gonna keep them on their heels. There are strategies that apply strictly for pickin apart a newly formed team. Some players on both sides of the ball are gonna be in new positions due to the volume of talent they aquired. It takes a while to learn those looks and key on the motions. Normally LCC is a second half team but in this case they will be a first half team. When the third qaurter begins look for Harlan Co. to be much sharper and execute well. This IMO is the way its gonna roll. LCC will not waste any time as they cycle through a series of quick plays with fierce repetiton. Each possesion is gonna give the Bears alot of different looks. After the half LCC will settle in and run hard nose sets simplistic in design and thus contol the pace of the game. Banks will likely benefit from all the confusion and make money on his multithreat abilities.

All i know is that if Harlan County can handle being knocked to the ground quite a few times.. They maybe able to keep the game within 2 or3 TD's... Cause LCC dont go down without a fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we all have heard about the depth of the Bears skill kids.

1400? Thought they were expecting 1200, and even that was a stretch. Of course, school hasn't even started there yet so who knows.

The only thing we are worried about is finding a parking spot when we cross the mountain!
LOL Only kiddin! This is gonna be a great game. I can't believe it's only 13 more days!! I'm betting that Coach Larkey will have them ready to play! FIrst game....EVER!

Harlan has lots to worry about, but so does Letcher. Middlesboro is not great and they did out play Letcher those last 2 sets of plays. I don't thing Da Bears was trying to say Letcher was bad. I think he just posted what was left out of the overall assesment. Middlesboro really brings lots of pressure which the other two teams did not do. I am sure that is hard to protect against early on like this. They scored on trap option against Letcher which is a heck of a football play.

I am not saying that MIDD. did not have a little fun moving the ball, lets not for get LCC was without thier big l/b CALEB FRAZIER and I promise that will make a difference in a ball game.Tweleve more days buckel up its going to be rough.

To me #4 is the best defender and #57 or 59 is the best LB anyway. So we will see.

Did anyone get eyes on Logan Johnson? Would like to hear some news on that kid. Maybe he got a couple snaps or ran some routes, perhaps got a set on defense.
