This has pro sports, college sports, and horse racing, so I didn't know where to put it.
The biggest upset of the year candidates are: Appalachian State over Michigan (in Michigan!), New York Giants, the Fresno State baseball team, and Da' Tara, the horse that defeated Triple Crown favorite Big Brown in the Belmont Stakes.
Fresno and Da' Tara aren't even contenders in my book because baseball, wow, anyone can beat anyone because of a good pitcher and mediocre hitting, and Da' Tara's not even close because Big Brown had an injury and barely even finished the race (ooooh wow, you wanna celebrate outrunning me in my wheelchair, too?).
Giants could have the biggest outcome of the year because it stopped the Pats from perfection, but that's not that big of an "upset" because they almost beat them in week 17 (I think they did beat them, but we won't get into that argument). The Giants knew that the Pats COULD be beaten and HOW to beat them, so it wasn't that big of a surprise that they did win.
Appalachian State was a 1aa school that beat a 1a school, which had never happened, and it was MICHIGAN, the number 5 team in the nation.
App State should have won.

I don't think is shoult be App. St over Michigan. But they may just be because I am a fan of Michigan!! LOL.

I would vote Appy State over Michigan too..but IMHO, I think the Stanford 24 USC 23 game was the biggest upset of the year...I agree with Fritz, an injured horse that got beat shouldnt have been on the list, and the Fresno State-Georgia game, as well as the Patriots-Giants game were both CHAMPIONSHIP games..

Appy State beating Michigan was the biggest upset since a certain little Jewish kid went up side a certain 8 foot Philistines head with a rock. LOL!
