Jenkins Head Coach
#1
With less than a week till practice starts, what is the school going to do about a head coach now that lincoln bentley is not the coach.?They really need to act and get someone in there to get the kids excited...CALL TIM MCCOY...Who was coach back in the 90's.

Tough situation for Jenkins, logical choice would be Randy Johnson longtime assistant to Mark Johnson.

Jenkins is searching for a new coach. With the legal issues of the coach who had been hired, he would not be available until August (maybe not then either). For those reasons the Superintendent decided to let him go. Jenkins is looking for a head football coach who can also teach social studies, however, anyone with a teaching degree interested in being a head football coach at Jenkins should contact Teresa Bentley, principal at Jenkins at 1-606-832-2184. There are two assistant coaches in place to start practice on July 15. Thanks for your concern cougarpride08.

Don't believe they will have a team this season.
#5
Sounds like to me Beefhide said practice would start on the 15th.

IMO this is a bad decision. Lincoln would be a great fit for Jenkins. But snice you have asst coaches already in place, I would give the HC job to one of them. I think the Ratliff guy could do good work there. Good luck Beefhide and goodluck Jenkins:thumpsup:

Is randy the little debbie stocker? His son is a senior this year, and he would make a great fit to the team.
#10
Being a "little debbie man" does not certify a person to be a head coach in Ky. :o

Thanks Real Badman, we are considering one of the assistant coaches.Big Grin

I think I was just asking is that his occupation. I think he has been around football long enough to know how to teach. He taught those young men ever since they was a freshman and those young men look up to him. He knows enough about the game to be qualified as a coach. Just ask the former coach.

they have very few players and no head coach as of now...its almost august! did they even have passin league or spring ball?
#14
yes they did have spring practice.
no they don't have a coach.
and Randy Johnson 'supposedly' can't take the job because he did not receive enough college hours to be certified as a substitute teacher
but he would be the best fit for the team because he has coached these kids since they were in elementary school...he has been around much longer than just a few years.
and IMO Lincoln Bentley was not a good fit for the Jenkins program.
#15
Who are the two assistant coaches who are going to handle the practices?

How many kids did they have at spring practice?
#17
They had a few.
Not as much as they had on the team last year.
But it's a small school and most of the kids were busy playing another sport. You can't gather much about the team from spring practice with low numbers in the whole school.
#18
So, how had Jenkins first couple days of practice is going?
#19
Jekins had 25 kids participate in spring practice. We have 25 out now for practice. The two assistant coaches are Brandon Ratliff and Matt Craft. A head coach will be named this friday July 19th. Randy johnson is helping with practice as a volunteer coach.
#20
25 thats great numbers
#21
That is great! Hope the numbers stay up. Good luck Cavaliers this season.
#22
yeah especially since they weren't even expected to get enough to field a team! go cavs!
#23
So who was named the head coach?
#24
Good Luck this year Cavs!
#25
With consolidation of schools throughout the state, its Great to have football
no matter what class in our communities.
Good luck Jenkins!
#26
So who is the coach, how is practice going? Is there still 25 out?
#27
Me being a Jenkins grad, I remember back in the day when we hosted a playoff game in 94. Was runner up to pikeville in district two years in a row. Lost to Lyne Camp<--spell wrong sorry. 94 was the year that we played the best. Hope one day we can relive that same kind of success.
#28
Any news on the coach situation?
#29
still nothing??
#30
It seems they've had a history of troubles. They were talented last season. I know the coaches at Letcher would have loved to have had Puckett and that fullback. If they get the right person in there, they will have a chance to compete regularly for second place in that district.
