Now that the All-Star rosters have been announced, who were the players with the biggest gripe about being left out?
As a Reds fan, I'm going to offer up Brandon Phillips. He is hitting .292, with 14 HR and 56 RBI, all while committing only one fielding error at 2B. Yet there is a place on the team for SS Miguel Tejada, whose stats are .283, 10 HR, and 44 RBI, not to mention his 7 errors. Yes, each team has to have an All-Star representative, but the Astros already had Lance Berkman starting, so that reason doesn't fly.
That's mine, so who are yours? Also, feel free to offer up an undeserving player who should have been left off instead, if you wish.

Im also gonna go with Brandon Phillips, but I think Edwin Encarnacion should have got it, but theres always next year!

I do not understand how Phillips is not an All-Star. He's the first that comes to my mind although I'm sure there are others.

Well, me being a Pirates fan, I have to say Jason Bay, at .289 with 17 hr, 45 rbi, scored 62 runs and has 6 stolen bases. Xavier Nady has had a monster year too, batting .323 with 12 hr, 55 rbi, scored 42 runs....I think they both have had good enough seasons to make it, but thats the problem I have with the whole thing. The fans vote should be LIMITED to whoever makes it. Make the fans vote 1/3 of it, then players that deserve to go, can, instead of the same ol players every year. And Big Papi batting .252 with 13 homers and 43 rbi??? And HE led the voting. THATS the problem with the all star game, regardless whether or not he plays. A guy that dont field, with numbers like that shouldnt lead the voting..

Mark my words, Tommy Gorzelanny will be an all-star more than once in his career, not this year but maybe next year or the next.

I agree..I just hope he's in a Pirates uniform when he gets there

I agree also...I am shocked that Dice-K didn't make it! Seems like every other Japanese player makes it because there fans are insane and vote like 3/4th of the total votes..And he is the most deserving of any! Red Sox Nation let us down on this one! But I agree, Big Papi or Varitek didn't belong in the All Star game this year!

The reason why Dice-K didn't get in is because the fans don't vote for the pitchers. They are voted on by the other players or selected by the manager. I have no doubt that if pitchers were subject to the fan vote, that he would be a shoo-in.
Speaking of the Japanese vote, how ridiculous is it that Kosuke Fukodome (of the Cubs) is starting? He's a decent player, but an All-Star? Not even close. TidesHoss, looks like he took the spot that should've went to Xavier Nady or Jason Bay.

I agree, and not only should either one of them be taking the place of Fukodome, it rubs salt in the wound because I hate the **** Cubs. I would love to pencil in Steve Bartman on a real write in ballot

Let me tell you the biggest snub. Ivan "Pudge" Rodriquez

Surprised Ryan Howard didn't make it. He might strike out a lot but hes putting up the usual numbers that an all-star is supposed to put up. Leads the bigs in Hr's with 28 and still didn't make it.

Yeah Ryan Howard not making it is a disgrace. I dont know how in the world anyone can justify David Wright getting the nod to replace Soriano over Howard. Guess it's because he plays in New York, he sure doesnt have the numbers Howard does, and who cares about him striking out alot, hes still a better player than Wright.

Ryan Howard without a doubt.
